If you need a song to make you relax, this is the tune. I don't know why, but everytime I play it, it just relaxes me. I love the opening vocals on it, she's so calm in the song and enticing.
I can't believe We Belong Together blocked this from #1, and then when We Belong Together finally dropped to #4, this was still stuck at #2 because Gold Digger leapt over it. Just one week for this song would've been nice, #2 for 6 weeks is too much.

I think I prefer this song to the one by Taylor Swift.

I liked it a lot, when it was a single, but it's a little stale and boring now.

Mediocre. She has so many better songs than this.

I've always hated this song and it's terrible when performed live.

I didn't like it then and I still don't. The production was so blah compared to so much of that album. It was a huge hit for her, so clearly it was the right choice for a single, but there were other songs I would have preferred.

I heard this in a store and I was reminded it's a bop! The production bounces but is definitely too monotonous, especially since the chorus is repeated so much, but man Mariah creates a lot of catchy melodies for this one.

This was instantly my favorite song from the album back then & I was so glad that it became a smash hit single. Now, I definitely go back to the R&B ballads more on TEOM, but at the time this was perfection.

This song was ok. It certainly is catchy, but not interesting at all. I wish they had pushed So Lonely harder during that era. That was a certified bop!

I loved this song when the album came out. The vibe of the song reminded me of the remix of "Ignition" by R.Kelly. And the song is pretty catchy. However I was initially disappointed it became a single, but they made the right choice retrospectively..

You only have to listen to the instrumental to realize what a bore this song is. I think I like the video better than the song itself. LMAO a decade later I still have the same thoughts about this song. That being said, for some inexplicable reason, I've been playing it a lot lately. 😶 A lot of Mariah fans say it's somehow transformed into a bop live (Mariah adores this song and it's rarely missing from her setlists) but I can't attest to that; I have yet to see her her live, unfortunately. I've always loved this remix, I feel like it adds a missing musicality to the song:

This song is a mellow bop, I don't mind the beat, and it is catchy in parts. Has some fun adlibs at the end.
I don't understand how massive it was though, cause it really is just there.

Considering the wave Mariah was on at the time, it of course rode that wave. That type of sound/vibe was also in at the time. It sounded good at the pool or in the car.

I do see how it climbed the charts. But for a Mariah song, I definitely rank it low in her list of bops. I could see it for Obsessed, and Touch My Body, but, SIO is not it for me.
