Droppers:
From #5: Child Of Mine/Mark Schultz
From #14: Untitled Hymn/Chris Rice
From #18: Pray/Darlene Zschech
Of the two above droppers, only one makes sense, the Darlene Zschech one, since that one has been out since last fall. I'm not sure how long the Chris Rice song has been out, but since it's been climbing for the past few weeks, I assume it's relatively new. But the drop of Mark Schultz from number five is just messed up. How could that song all of a sudden fall off the face of the earth when the Newsboys song, which has been out for more than a half a year actually re-enters the countdown? Needless to say, this rules out the concept of any sort of recurrent rule.
We have a monster debut this week, "Glory Defined" by a new band who goes by the name Building 429. The song comes in all the way up at number six. But that doesn't mean much. Remember last month, when "Leaving 99" came roaring onto the chart all the way up at number seven? It's had the most erratic chart movement since then, dropping down to #18, back up to number eleven and now, it's on its way down again, dropping one place to number twelve. Something tells me that Building 429 song is going to experience the same type of yo-yo chart run.
So, after listening to 20: The Countdown Magazine and taking careful notes for about a month, I've come to the conclusion that the Christian Radio Weekly chart, which 20: TCM goes by, has a very psycho chart, with many wishy-washy chart runs (Gavin, anyone?) It does make things interesting, though. Still, methinks that 20: TCM should switch to using the R&R Christian A/C chart, which is a lot more consistent.
