Anyone who says her voice isn't suited for Christmas music is crazy. This is gorgeous.

I love that she still makes such a big splash when she comes out with something new (even with something as boring as MKIA ;)) I, for one, didn't think she should make an entire Christmas album--- but I find myself revisiting that idea after listening to this bluesy, easy-listening style. It's my favorite genre Kelly's ever done (like WDYT, all of her Aretha performances on Idol and otherwise, BBE, TTWLI), and I've always wanted her to experiment more with it.

This is sooo good. Not that this was needed to prove that Kelly can slay Christmas music, but I like how this is a reminder for the general public/casual fans of how amazing and versatile of a vocalist she is.

I'm not typically a Kelly fan, but this is gorgeous. The arrangement and her understated vocal are a prefect fit. I love the the stronger presence of her natural vocal tone; I feel like that is buried in the production of a lot of her pop music.
Any artist who can deliver a great vocal on a classic without ruining it by showing off with vocal runs and melisma is good to me. I usually love that kind of vocal style, but Christmas music is best with classic arrangements and simple vocals to me. And thank goodness she is looking naturally beautiful this era, instead of being painfully airbrushed beyond recognition.
Great job by Kelly and it was a great choice to release this for the holiday season. ;)

Ugh... really? She's like hitting really weird notes all throughout it.... it almost makes her sound pitchy..... the ending is great though - I'll continue to voice my opinion that she needs big-voiced x-mas songs, she has a greater command of her voice when she's having to reach for bigger notes. Amy Grant, Martina BcBride, I'll even go as far as to say Barbara Streisand - those are Christmas voices. I get it, Kelly is vocally blessed; but, no, she can't do it all.

She's gotta do a whole Christmas album.
I really want to hear a studio-quality recording of the version of Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree she did in the preshows.

What a beautiful rendition. ♥ p.s.: the world is full of tone deaf people. Sadly it's their loss that they can never appreciate a really stellar and pitch perfect performance, such as this one.

iTunes: 36. I'll Be Home for Christmas - Kelly ClarksonWednesday, December 07, 2011 3:31 PMfrom Jason Halbert (Kelly's musical director) HQ singles cover (1500x1500) i1.sndcdn.com/artworks-000014960837-wbaaw1-original.jpg?eaa2527Lots of excellent reviews coming in. Kelly Clarkson releases Christmas single: Listen hereBy Rand Duren/Editor rduren@dallanews.com 1:27 PM on Tue., Dec. 6, 2011 | Permalink Can you believe it has been more than 10 years since Kelly Clarkson won American Idol? Ever since that time she has been one of my favorite female voices. That voice has allowed her to set a standard for reality competition singers and has helped her sell millions of albums worldwide. Just a few weeks ago, while listening to her new album, Stronger, I thought: "Wouldn't it be great to have some Christmas music from Kelly?" And, well, to my surprise and excitement Kelly released her version of "I'll be home for Christmas" today. Grab your snuggie and a hot chocolate and cuddle by the fireplace while Kelly brings Christmas to your home! popcultureblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/12/kelly-clarkson-releases-christ.html Kelly Clarkson Debuts 'I'll Be Home For Christmas'By Kelly Schremph , Hollywood.com Staff | Tuesday, December 06, 2011 Add to Mixx! Add to Yahoo! Buzz There's no doubt about it -- the Christmas season is in full swing, which means several celebrity singers are coming out with remakes to the traditional holiday classics. This is a great way for artists to expand on their creativity by attempting to put a different spin on the original songs we know and love. By now you've all heard Justin Bieber's many Christmas-y contributions for the season, including "Mistletoe" and "All I Want For Christmas Is You." But while these pop songs contain a certain level of charm, they can't hold a candle to Kelly Clarkson's recent Christmas release, "I'll Be Home For Christmas." This particular song makes her vocals really shine and stand out, further showcasing what a strong and powerful singer she is. And although I'm not a big fan of Christmas song remakes (come on, the classics are always the best), I have to give Clarkson credit for not damaging a beautiful song. She didn't change up the melody so much that it's unrecognizable, but it still holds a unique sound that's all her own. So even though nothing can top the originals, this song is definitely worth a listen. You know, just to help you get further immersed in the Christmas spirit. www.hollywood.com/news/Kelly_Clarkson_Debuts_Ill_Be_Home_For_Christmas/10315389 New Song: Kelly Clarkson, 'I'll Be Home For Christmas'Posted 12/6/11 12:57 pm ET by Jenna Hally Rubenstein in Celebrity, Music If there's anyone who can dethrone Justin Bieber as the king of all things holiday, it's Kelly Clarkson! Recently, Kelly's been the poster child for strong women (as well as the star of an incredible "VH1 Unplugged," which you can and SHOULD watch here), but today, we're treated to a much softer side of the "You Love Me" singer as she puts her own pop spin on the seasonal classic "I'll Be Home For Christmas." On the wings of a jazzy piano melody, the song lilts along as Kelly's vocals take center stage. As opposed to her normally booming pipes, in "I'll Be Home For Christmas" Kelly shows off some of her formal training and swaps pop-tinged riffs for classical vibrato. She croons: "Christmas Eve will find you/Where the love light gleams/I'll be home for Christmas/If only in my dreams." Just as you think this Christmas song cannot get any more Christmas-y, a jazz trumpet plays a haunting melody that conjures images of happy families sitting warm by the fire drinking eggnog, roasting chestnuts, and setting out a plate of cookies for St. Nick's midnight visit. (Clearly, I've watched "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" 1,000 too many times). Cliched Christmas scenes aside, Kelly Clarkson's new tune is a holiday insta-classic and will undoubtedly be played more than 78 million times between now and Dec. 25. And honestly, I might blast this jam this in the summer, too -- it's just that good. buzzworthy.mtv.com/2011/12/06/kelly-clarkson-ill-be-home-for-chistmas/ Kelly Clarkson "I'll Be Home For Christmas" (NEW MUSIC)Posted 5 hours 52 min ago by GlobalGrind Staff Every pop star seems to be in the Christmas sprit this year. The latest one to join in the joy this season is Kelly Clarkson. The Ex-American Idol winner just dropped “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” her remake to Bing Crosby’s classic ode to Christmas. While singers like Justin Bieber have released more poppy sounding and up-beat musical anthems when remaking Christmas songs, Kelly’s first step in the Christmas vortex this year is subdued and jazzy sounding, which matches the tone of the 1943 original. Guess Who These Chubby Celebs Are! (PHOTOS) While Crosby’s version was dominated by melodramatic strings, Kelly uses a faint piano and heavy horns to create the Christmas magic. Her voice sounds strong on this and we think if Mr. Crosby was still around, he would be proud. “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” is the first single off of her iTunes exclusive EP, which will be available to download on December 27th. globalgrind.com/music/kelly-clarkson-ill-be-home-christmas-new-music First Listen: Kelly Clarkson “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”If you buy one Christmas song this holiday season it better be Kelly Clarkson’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.” The song appears as a bonus track on the singer’s upcoming 8-song iTunes Sessions album, which hits the digital retailer on December 27th, but (thankfully!) you don’t have to wait to purchase the single. As expected, Ms. Clarkson throws down some seriously impressive vocals on the blues-inspired track. Talk about playing to your strengths — Clarkson demonstrates sheer power and control against a jazzy horn solo, which she allows to shine just long enough before kicking in the song’s finale. LEGENDARY. Listen to Kelly Clarkson’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” below and be sure to purchase it at iTunes. And while your at it, pick up her new album Stronger. Remember, the track will appear on her upcoming 8-song iTunes session, which hits December 27th. Just in time for that… post-Christmas shopping rush. www.theroundtableonline.com/2011/12/first-listen-kelly-clarkson-ill-be-home-for-christmas/

I love having another recorded Kelly Christmas song. I would love if she put out a full Christmas album next year. I have to say, I do not like that single cover though.

I'm also not a huge Kelly fan (I like her, don't get me wrong) but I love this. I hope she makes a Christmas album because I would definitely buy it. I love the jazzy production in Kelly's version of this song.

So i'm getting the feeling that this didn't see much action today, on the supposed adds date?

So i'm getting the feeling that this didn't see much action today, on the supposed adds date? Just one AC add, but that's not too bizarre considering not many HAC stations have switched over to Christmas music yet. I would expect it to continue picking up a few adds here and there throughout the next month.

Something odd happened with this song, it might have been being treated as a recurrent song up until today for some reason.
It has vaulted into the top 15 on the AC chart though:
