I was going through the old SN thread because I couldn't remember when we started finding out things about that album. And I came across this post:
LOL!

How much do you guys think the new album is going to sell in its first week? I know it's early and we haven't heard the single, but based on buzz, following up SN, etc, etc.
I'd say 600k is a lock.

Yeah, I think a lot of it will depend on the first single. But then I said the same thing before "Mine" was released and I really don't think it had any affect on SN's sales.
Somewhere between Fearless and SN. IDK, 800k-ish? That seems like a lot but she's always been an albums artist.

I think 700k is guaranteed regardless of whether the first single is a hit or not. She'll only go up from there.

Yeah I think she'll sell between 750K and 1 million in the first week. I really hope they release the right first single that can be played on multi formats.

Glad she's finally working with some other songwriters, I think this is the best move for her and her music. Stripped down music is what Taylor does best. ("Last Kiss", "Tim McGraw", even "Safe and Sound") Agree. I enjoy her softer, more intimate songs a lot more. They suit her voice the most too.

Hopefully we get a strong lead single for Taylor,I thnking around 750K-800K for this album's release week then again anything can happen with the lead single so it could open stronger. Also having the right promotion this next era can help also. There are Many more shows that Taylor can promote her single on nowdays such The Voice and The X Factor USA.

Sorry Billy, but your boy is making it awfully hard to like him...
-----
John Mayer says that he was "really humiliated" by Taylor Swift's song "Dear John," which the country-pop star allegedly wrote about him. "It made me feel terrible," Mayer says in the new issue of Rolling Stone, on newsstands Friday. "Because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do."
Swift's song, which appeared on her best-selling 2010 album Speak Now, was released shortly after Mayer went on a two-year hiatus following his controversial interviews with Rolling Stone and Playboy. "Dear John, I see it all, now it was wrong / Don't you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?" Swift sings on the tune, a staple of her live set.
Swift and Mayer were romantically linked before the song's release, and in an interview conducted shortly after, the singer indicated that the song's subject would be apparent. "There are things that were little nuances of the relationship, little hints," said Swift. "Everyone will know, so I don't really have to send out emails on this one."
Mayer now tells Rolling Stone that he learned about Swift's feelings directly from her song. "I never got an e-mail. I never got a phone call," he says. "I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I'd already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?" When asked about the song's line, "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?" Mayer says, "I don't want to go into that."
Mayer also takes issue with "Dear John" as a musician. "I will say as a songwriter that I think it's kind of cheap songwriting," he says. "I know she's the biggest thing in the world, and I'm not trying to sink anybody's ship, but I think it's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait till he gets a load of this!' That's bulls**t."
-----
The worst part is when he says it made him feel "horrible," you think at first he means because of how he treated her, but then he goes on to explain that no, it's because he didn't "deserve it" rme.

I'm surprised that it took him close to two years to comment.
This line is interesting: When asked about the song's line, "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?" Mayer says, "I don't want to go into that." Clearly he's not telling the full story.

It just proves how much of a Douche John Mayer really is. It makes him feel horrible. What a stupid thing to say.

I really think this record will be Taylor's most acclaimed one, to be honest. From what I've been hearing, she's been broadening her scope and working with different artists. I expect a lot of songs in the vein of Safe and Sound - different from anything we've ever heard from her before. Also, a lot more mature. Ps: I don't mean in the same style of Safe and Sound, what I mean is different from anything she has ever done.

Just read the article about John Mayer's comments, and it made me chuckle as to how stupid he's managed to make himself look. He only did this because of the fact that he has some limelight on him from a new album, and the fact that he said she was "abusing her talents" made me twist my head to the side. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of artists write songs about personal experiences; Taylor was just more vocal than normal with Dear John. The "cheap songwriting" comment was where I started chuckling.
Sorry -- had to put my two cents into this. I'm anxious to hear new music from her this fall/winter, if that's when she's still pegged to be releasing a new album.

Great now we know why Mark Foster and Taylor were meeting in LA for. That's awesome that they wrote a song together.

When I hear the new BoB/Taylor song, I get more and more upset that she didn't save that melody/chorus for her own song.

We should be two months from a lead single at this point. I doubt the title is revealed too far in advance, though, because they won't want another leaked lead single like "Mine."

Those were way too big. I removed them and made them just links instead. Nice pictures, though.

Did Taylor wrote the chorus of 'Both of Us'? I thought she didn't after i read this: No, she didn't. I saw a tweet after BOU went top 5 on iTunes from someone in the music industry talking about how crazy it was because he remembered listening to Ammar play the song for him on his ukelele last year. I've seen that quote before and I'm still confused by it. I think B.O.B probably just meant that she wrote her own version of the verses. Not that she changed any of the lines in the actual song. She's not credited as a co-writer on BMI. Not sure about on the album itself.

I'm glad she looks somewhat edgy on the set of this video. I'm getting tired of this vintage/40's look she's been sporting for the past 3 years. I'm not saying she needs to sex it up, because I know she won't, but hopefully with her best friend Selena looking like this lately It will inspire her to start dressing more like a young adult woman rather than a 60 year old one, or at least a hipster forever trapped in the 40s. I loved her look for a while, but come on, we need a LITTLE bit more of edge.
