Jerrod Niemann is finishing up album, Hopes to have next single (from the new album) out in the spring. tasteofcountry.com/jerrod-niemann-2012-album/So for fans of "Old School New Again" or "Bakersfield", you won't be happy to see this.

^I saw that article a couple weeks ago, but even before that I wasn't figuring on a 4th single anyway. His singles all did pretty well but much like Easton Corbin and Josh Thompson, it's tough for a newcomer to keep stringing along top 5 or top 10 hits (I know Josh hasn't made the top 10 yet), and the pattern was that their 3rd singles were all still hits, but not as big as the first two, and the albums weren't selling as much anymore. Also, newer artists tend to take longer going up the charts, so it's no surprise to me that Jerrod and others will have moved on after 3 singles. It's probably in his best interest, too, to come back with another album and keep plugging away. As long as he puts out a good single, I think he'll be around to stay, since his first album seems to have established him well enough. And in any case, "Bakersfield" is one of my most-played songs on last.fm I would've loved to hear it on the radio, but I'm ok with it remaining an album gem and I look forward to what Jerrod will bring us on his next album.

I just don't get how Easton has gone this long without a single! He could have easily had a 4th single takes 6-7 months to climb by now, with time to spare! So many great songs were left to choose from off that album, especially "This Far from Memphis" and "A Lot to Learn about Livin." The latter could have been a great Summer smash I believe. When artists as new as Easton go nearly a year between singles, its easy for the casual listener to forget who they are with the influx of other new artist that come thru the year. Easton is pretty much going to have to start all over again now. You'd think he was on Curb and not Mercury!

I definitely agree there was more material to release off of Easton's debut, and I am fairly certain the intent was for him to have new music out already. However, he was ill over the summer/fall (he canceled a TON of shows, further delaying my chance to see him) and was unable to sing/record/etc. And while you can argue that they could haven released something in the interim, it's possible that they were just waiting to see if he got better, and by the time everybody realized he wasn't going to, it would have been odd to release something off the debut.
He's fine now, and touring again, and has been very, very active on Twitter, so I would guess we'll hear something new from him in early 2012. Hope so, anyway. :)

I also asked Randy's dad if Scotty/Lauren being signed to Mercury did the song in, and he said yes. He also said that it hurt Easton Corbin too.Rowdawg posted this in the Randy Montana "1,000 Faces" thread this past summer. I think that Mercury putting a lot of their efforts into launching Scotty & Lauren's careers probably hurt Easton's 3rd single, "I Can't Love You Back", and may have taken their focus off of him enough that they didn't feel they could put enough of an effort into pushing a 4th single. And I know Josh Turner is on MCA, but I have a theory--and keep in mind I can't prove this--that his long wait between "I Wouldn't Be A Man" and his new single going forward in January could've also partially been affected by Scotty in particular. Before anyone jumps on me, let me first say that I'm not saying Scotty and Josh are "too similar", but I do think that a lot of people might compare Scotty to Josh, given their history singing together and similar voices. Maybe to a lot of us here they aren't that similar, but I think they might be viewed as very similar to the casual radio listener. I'm not saying it's Scotty's fault either--these are just things that can happen, or could happen, I should say, since I have no way of proving that it did happen at all. I just thought, with MCA also a Universal label, that maybe they held back on the Josh Turner front a bit as well so that Scotty could get a little bit of time to "start" up his career, if you will. Now that Scotty is doing well, they probably feel like they can go forward with Josh (he might not be an A-list star, but they didn't run the risk of having people forget about him because he's well-enough established) and I'm sure they'll focus on Easton Corbin again in hopes that his 2nd album does well. And while I'm at it, I'll hope for Randy Montana to get something out there again, and also for Billy Currington to get back to scoring bigger hits. In any case, I'm sure Universal will have a busy 2012--I do think a new Easton single will be coming soon, plus Universal bought out EMI so we'll have to see what happens this year with Capitol Nashville (it was part of EMI, but now EMI doesn't exist--it's part of Universal). Still no news on Carrie's first single from the fourth album? Something's got to be coming very soon. The BCU a few weeks back hinted that Arista was beginning to make preparations to launch a new single "soon". And for more concrete evidence that things are in motion, Carrie blogged on the 17th on her fan club website and said that she was done recording the album--all that was left was recording one background vocal. They also have narrowed the choice of lead single down to just 2 [great] songs. They've done the photo shoot for the single cover and she says she's close to having the album title. Maybe you knew all that but I'm sure not everyone here did. Other than that blog, she and the label have been quiet, while her awesome fans like Typo and those at the fan club keep track on new song titles that are being registered online every now and then. A Christmas surprise might be possible, but if not, I'm expecting to hear something in early January.

It sounds like Alan Jackson already has a video done for his next single. And it seems likely to be a song called "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore" (thanks to BleedRed @ CCT for the find). www.alanjackson.com/forum/index.php?topic=1629.0

Jamie Lynn Spears is releasing a new country single (premiering on E! News tonight - heard it here first ). How well do you think it's going to do? I'm iffy about it but her voice isn't bad at all.

Interesting. I can't wait to hear it, because I loved her voice on the theme song of Zoey 101 (and of course I am also a huge fan of her big sister). As for hit potential, I doubt it. There's really no open door at country radio right now for new female artists it seems, unfortunately.

According to the 12/28 issue of Country Aircheck Weekly, Easton Corbin and Phil Vassar will have new singles out in January. A person at Phil's label said it's some of the best music he's recorded.

Really looking forward to both of these. It's been too long for Easton, and hopefully Sound Of A Million Dreams got Phil out of his creative rut.

Vassar's problem is he is trying to be too creative.. stick with the classic stuff that got you here: "In a Real Love" "Just Another Day in Paradise" "Carlene" etc..
VERY VERY excited for Easton's single and album.

My radio station just played "Fly Over States" a few minutes ago, and they're not the kind to play non-singles or album tracks.

It has been charting in the top 60 for the last two weeks. Maybe your radio station assumed it was the next single, not saying that they are wrong, but I just wouldn't assume that FOS is 100% the next single.

Easton Corbin just posted today online a photo of him "finishing the album" and said a new single is coming soon! Dying for that baby to pop up!

The first single from Lionel's duets album will be "Endless Love," with Shania Twain. Not sure of a release date, yet.

^I'm sure it is. I saw that yesterday but didn't post anything about it, because I couldn't find anything just yet saying it was the new "single"...everything I found said "Check out Phil's new song!" But I'm pretty sure it is the new single...we just need some official confirmation.

I would say that as well...one of my model friends filmed a music video for See You When I See You-so I assumed that would be the next single SYWISY could still be the single, I guess, but "Fly Over States" got another 3 adds this week, and only about half the panel has reported since today is a holiday (the rest of the stations will no doubt report their adds tomorrow). So it's very possible that FOS got more than 3 adds this past week. I'd be surprised if they don't roll with it...it seems to be the song that radio wants. Also, I noticed one station added the song "One Mississippi" by Brett Eldredge, so I'd say that has a good chance of becoming his next single. It's a pretty good song, but "Signs" is the song his label NEEDS to release. I'm hoping for that as the new single...but it might not be. Hopefully it will still come out at some point, though.

Now thats awesome news! Hopefully this will at least surpass "Today is Your Day" on the chart. I didn't want to bump up an ancient thread, so I thought I'd post this here. "Today Is Your Day" finally made the top 50 at AC radio today. I wonder if it'll have greater success there; that is, if it gets pushed a bit.
