HITS is off for the week, but here's BB's article for now. No idea if HITS will post their usual Thursday prediction or not. Info for this week may be limited.. Adele's '21' Aiming for 14th Week at No. 1, LMFAO Headed For First Top 10 Album If it seems like there is at least one Adele-themed story per day on Billboard's site -- you're right. It's hard to avoid writing about the diva, considering her "21" album is the top selling release of 2011 and is poised to return to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 next week. It's projected that "21" will skip 2-1 on the weekly Billboard 200, marking the album's 14th non-consecutive frame atop the list. The last album to spend more weeks at No. 1 was the "Titanic" soundtrack, which racked 16 weeks in the penthouse in 1998. The current No. 1, Michael Buble's "Christmas," will likely fall straight out of the top 10. That's not unusual, as holiday albums drop off dramatically in sales once Christmas has passed. It's too early to forecast exactly how many copies "21" will sell in the tracking week that ends on Sunday, Jan. 1, but it could likely move around 100,000. In other news, LMFAO could capture its first top 10 album as "Sorry for Party Rocking" may jump into the top 10 in its 28th week on the tally. On this week's chart, it rose 24-16 with 74,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan -- a gain of 85%. "Sorry" debuted and peaked at No. 12 on the chart dated July 9 while LMFAO's first album, "Party Rock," topped out at No. 33 in its premiere frame on July 25, 1999. The duo is currently celebrating "Sorry's" second No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single this week -- "Sexy and I Know It" bumped Rihanna's "We Found Love" from the top slot. Link: www.billboard.com/news#/column/chartbeat/adele-s-21-aiming-for-14th-week-at-no-1-1005760152.storyThe week after Christmas is always unpredictable. It's usually about whoever drops the least.

It wouldn't be a Billboard article without at least one glaring error.

I figured this week wouldn't be quite as dramatic of sales drops (for non-Christmas albums anyway) since the tracking week includes the first few days after Christmas which still usually have pretty healthy sales with gift cards, heavy shopping traffic for after-Christmas sales etc. Things usually go very quiet after this week though obviously

I'm thrilled that 21 will hold the record for weeks at #1 by a female album, and that it will probably pass Fearless in sales by the post-Grammy week.

LMFAO, Florence + the Machine on Track for Billboard 200 Top 10The Billboard charts are getting extra "Sexy" this week. Electronic/pop/rap duo LMFAO just scored its second No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Sexy and I Know It" and now the act is heading for its first top 10 album. Industry prognosticators project that the pair's "Sorry for Party Rocking" album will zoom into the top 10 on next week's Billboard 200 chart -- a first for the set and group. Sources say "Sorry" might sell anywhere between 50,000 to 70,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Jan. 2. On this past week's tally, it rose 24-16 with 74,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan -- a gain of 85%. "Sorry" debuted and peaked at No. 12 on the chart dated July 9 while their first album, "Party Rock," topped out at No. 33 in 2009. "Sorry" is one of a number of albums that are being promoted in the iTunes Store for a $6.99 sale price. Others that are discounted include Lady Antebellum's "Own the Night," Florence + the Machine's "Ceremonials," Adele's "19," Michael Jackson's "Number Ones" and Foster the People's "Torches." Florence's set is also poised to hit the top 10 -- for the first time since its debut at No. 6 on Nov. 19, 2011. On SoundScan's Building chart below -- a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (ending Sunday) as reported by six major merchants, Lady Antebellum, LMFAO and Florence + the Machine are situated at Nos. 4, 5 and 7, respectively. Adele's "21" is found at No. 1 on the Building tally -- and should return to No. 1 for a 14th non-consecutive week on the Billboard 200. Sources suggest the album will move over 150,000 copies by week's end. Elsewhere on SoundScan's Building chart, Drake's "Take Care" is No. 2, Young Jeezy's "T M: 103 Hustlerz Ambition" is No. 3 and Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto" is No. 6. The Black Keys' "El Camino" is No. 8, followed by Rihanna's "Talk That Talk" and Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively. Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart Rank LW BB 200 Artist Title 1 2 Adele "21" 2 5 Drake "Take Care" 3 3 Young Jeezy "TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition" 4 6 Lady Antebellum "Own the Night" 5 16 LMFAO "Sorry for Party Rocking" 6 12 Coldplay "Mylo Xyloto" 7 20 Florence + the Machine "Ceremonials" 8 9 The Black Keys "El Camino" 9 7 Rihanna "Talk That Talk" 10 23 Lil Wayne "Tha Carter IV" The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales. Link: www.billboard.com/#/news/lmfao-florence-the-machine-on-track-for-1005770952.story

Sources suggest the album will move over 150,000 copies by week's end. Amazing. I'm guessing its going to be shifting 100k+ copies a week throughout January (due to SFTTR rising) and rack up some more weeks at #1. Then as sales start to fall, the grammys will be coming up! Everything has worked out so well for her so far, cannot wait to see what 2012 has in store!

Any band name that's a singular entity would be referred to as "it," unless the name is plural. Even then, though, one could say it" to refer to the bad, the Rolling Stones. But, they also would be fine.
If referring to members of LMFAO, it would be "they."

They're being grammatically correct.
Rap, hip-hop, and sometimes alternative acts tend to bounce right back up after Christmas. It's a symptom of kids making returns and using gift cards to buy the albums they actually want as opposed to their parents buying them the more "family-friendly" ones.
150,000 for #1 in the post-Christmas week must be one of the best post-Christmas totals, isn't it? I feel like the past few years sales for the #1 have immediately fallen below 100k, or is my memory wrong?

No, SuBo was well over 100k back in '09. Back in 2000/01, the #1 the week after Christmas did 200k+

So TTT is dropping in positions too? Thought it'd climb into top 5...
Huge smash album for Florence without matching singles success! It might outsell Lungs in the long run, also El Camino and Take Care might outsell Brothers and Thank Me Later. Great sophomore eras all over (of course Black Keys have been around longer but this is their second proper hit album.)

Amazing sales for Florence! I'm really happy for her because Ceremonials is an amazing album, even better than Lungs IMO, and it's nice to see an act you wouldn't typically think would find big success in the US selling so well.
And it goes without saying that Adele is just unstoppable. Over 150k the week after Christmas? Truly phenomenal. I could see ~100k every week until the Grammys, then perhaps 200-300k after the Grammys, meaning the album could be at 7 million by the end of February. Just crazy. I still think it will be quite a battle, but if any album could reach diamond in these times of low album sales, it's 21.
