There's also an inferior version getting around by "Walk Off The Earth". What is THAT about?? And don't tell me that there's a chance this version will become accepted here over Gotye's??? That version is at 71 on the itunes chart, Gotye's version is currently at 45. In Canada that version is #1 on iTunes!!! So unfair, a random shitty band covers a brilliant song which is becoming a sleeper hit and ends up being a bigger hit than the original. People shouldn't be able to cover songs while the original is still gaining in popularity. |

After a two-week respite, Rihanna's "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, returns to the Billboard Hot 100 summit (2-1) for a ninth total week in charge.
The song, which already represents Rihanna's longest residence at No. 1 on the Hot 100, matches Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" in early 2010 for the longest time tallied atop the Hot 100 for any song since the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" racked 14 weeks on top in summer 2009.
On Radio Songs, "Love" rules for an eighth week (152 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS), granting Rihanna her longest reign on the list as a lead act, besting the seven-week domination of her "What's My Name?," featuring Drake, early last year. She also ties her longest stranglehold atop the chart overall, having spent eight weeks at No. 1 on Radio Songs as a guest on T.I.'s "Live Your Life" in 2008-09 and Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" in 2010.
On Digital Songs, "Love" descends 2-4 with 185,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
With its return to No. 1 on the Hot 100, "Love" dethrones LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It" after two weeks in the penthouse. "Sexy" slips 1-2 on Digital Songs (212,000, down 49%) and 3-5 on Radio Songs (98 million, down 1%).
The duo's previous leader, "Party Rock Anthem," featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock, meanwhile, continues its inhabitance of the Hot 100's top 10, falling 6-9 in its 29th week in the top tier. Only two other songs have stayed in the top 10 longer: LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live" (32 weeks, 1997-98) and Santana's "Smooth," featuring Rob Thomas (30, 1999-2000).
Bruno Mars' "It Will Rain" lifts a notch back to its No. 3 Hot 100 peak to-date, holding at No. 2 on Radio Songs (127 million, up 13%) while sliding 5-10 on Digital Songs (154,000, down 45%).
At No. 4 on the Hot 100, Adele scores a third top five from her album "21," as "Set Fire to the Rain" boasts top Airplay Gainer honors, surging from No. 8 on the strength of a 35% bump to 73 million in audience. On Digital Songs, the track advances 6-3 (203,000, down 24%).
"Fire" follows previous Hot 100 top five hits "Rolling in the Deep," which spent seven weeks at No. 1 and became Billboard's top title of 2011, and "Someone Like You," which led for five frames. "21" likewise became Billboard's top album, and Adele the No. 1 artist, of last year.
Adele additionally closes out the Hot 100's top 10 this week, as "Someone" descends 9-10.
Flo Rida rounds out the Hot 100's top five, as "Good Feeling" is stationary at No. 5, rising 5-4 on Radio Songs and 7-5 on Digital Songs.
Katy Perry's push for an unprecedented sixth Hot 100 No. 1 from her album "Teenage Dream" now faces a hurdle, as "The One That Got Away" falls to No. 6 after two weeks at a No. 3 highpoint. The song rises 4-3 on Radio Songs (110 million, up 12%) but tumbles 3-9 on Digital Songs (154,000, down 50%). "Dream" and Michael Jackson's "Bad" (1987-88) remain the only albums to yield five Hot 100 No. 1s each in the chart's 53-year history.
Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Ni**as in Paris" stays at No. 7 on the Hot 100, holding at the same rank on Radio Songs (7-7) and Digital Songs (8-7).
As previously reported, Jason Mraz blasts onto the Hot 100 at No. 8 with "I Won't Give Up," courtesy of a No. 1 debut on Digital Songs. The song starts with 229,000 downloads sold without the aid so far of radio or a concentrated promotional push. According to Atlantic Records, however, a video for the song is set to be filmed this month and the label will begin promoting the track to adult pop and adult alternative radio Feb. 23.
"Won't" introduces Mraz's as-yet-untitled fourth studio album, due May 8.

Interesting to note, (and correct me if I'm wrong on this) this is the first time ever a song has gone back to #1 after already spending so many weeks at #1. Breaking the record of Nelly/ Kelly's Dilemma which went back to #1 after having already spent 7 weeks there.
Also, I've noticed, of all the songs to go 10+ weeks at #1 on the Hot 100, only two had an interruption in their run at #1: Dilemma and We Belong Together. Both were interrupted by an American Idol coronation song. Every other 10+ weeker did all their weeks in a row. Will Rihanna join this list next week? :o

If SFTTR hits #1 on the Hot 100 during a week where "21" is #1 on the BB200, will she be the first artist to top both charts simultaneously with 3 different songs from 1 album? I realize that is a kind of overly specific "record" but it was mentioned when SLY and 21 were #1 at the same time for the double-feat.

Nothing like striking while the iron is... Cold? The song is HOT right now, and yet his label is waiting more than a month to even promote (minimally might I add) this to any radio formats? Are there any other labels this stupid?

I think The Beatles did it in 1963 BUT their 3 singles were released within a few weeks of each other. Big difference. How Adele will have done it is infinitely harder - it's over a year since she released RITD! |

Why not send it to mainstream pop right away? It might even get a second week atop Digital Songs! It would be a shame for the song's peak position to be damaged by radio and digital sales not lining up right.. |

This is its ninth week on top. That's the longest run at #1 by any single since Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" had nine weeks on top in early 2010. "We Found Love" also tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. This brings Rihanna's total of 3-million-sellers to eight, which is more than any other artist in digital history. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are in second place with six each. All three women have been in the lead position on six 3-million-sellers. Rihanna's count also includes featured roles on Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie" and T.I.'s "Live Your Life." If you combine solo and group hits, Fergie and will.i.am also have six 3-million-sellers. They have had four with Black Eyed Peas. In addition, Fergie and will.i.am have each had two on their own (including one, "Fergalicious," that they recorded together). "We Found Love" reached the 3 million mark in just 16 weeks, faster than any song since "E.T." by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg blitzed to the 3 million mark in just 12 weeks last spring. Incidentally, this is the longest run at #1 for a collabo since "Low" by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain had 10 weeks on top in early 2008. It's the longest run at #1 for a boy-girl collabo (hey, we leave no stone unturned) since "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent featuring Olivia had nine weeks on top in early 2005. Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up" enters the Hot 100 at #8. It's his second top 10 hit, following his 2008 smash "I'm Yours." That song, which peaked at #6 in September 2008, holds two key records. It has spent more weeks on the Hot 100 (76) than any other song in the chart's nearly 54-year history. And it has sold more digital copies (5,936,000) than any song that fell short of the #1 spot. Seven songs in digital history have sold more copies than "I'm Yours," but they all topped the Hot 100. "I Won't Give Up" is only Mraz's third top 40 hit, which is surprising given his high profile. His first was "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)" in 2003, which reached #15. "I Won't Give Up" is from Mraz's upcoming fourth studio album. His last two studio albums opened in the top five. Mr. A-Z debuted and peaked at #5 in July 2005. We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. debuted and peaked at #3 in May 2008. Adele lands her third top five hit on the Hot 100 in less than a year as "Set Fire To The Rain" jumps from #8 to #4 in its 19th week. Will it follow "Rolling In The Deep" and "Someone Like You" to #1? Stay tuned. Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" holds at #5 in its 15th week, after peaking at #4 a few weeks ago. The song jumps to #1 in the U.K. this week. It's Mr. Rida's third #1 there as a lead artist, following "Low" and "Club Can't Handle Me" (featuring David Guetta). He was also featured on Alexandra Burke's #1 hit "Bad Boys." Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" drops from #3 to #6 in its 13th week. Unless it turns around (the charts are harder to predict than ever before), it will not give Perry a record-breaking sixth #1 hit from Teenage Dream. As you know, Perry tied Jackson's record in August, when "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" reached #1. Shameless Plug: There has been some backlash to Perry tying Jackson's record. Most of it strikes me as unfair. After all, the Jackson album that held the record wasn't the ground-breaking Off The Wall or the earth-shaking Thriller, but Bad, an album that, for all its success, was widely faulted for playing it too safe; for putting commercial success ahead of artistic growth. But it got me thinking: Are Perry's singles from Teenage Dream in the same league as Jackson's singles from Bad? I pulled out my albums and played the singles, in order, Jackson first, then Perry. I scored each round. That resulted in a Chart Watch Extra that we posted yesterday. If you missed it, here's a link. Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 songs. 1. "Young, Wild & Free" by Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa featuring Bruno Mars jumps from #14 to #11 in its 13th week. It's on the verge of returning to the top 10, where it debuted in October. Digital sales rank: #8 (160K)... J. Cole's "Work Out" jumps from #17 to #15 in its 19th week. The song tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week…Jessie J's "Domino" jumps from #21 to #17 in its 13th week. This is its highest ranking to date. Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup" drops from #15 to #20 in its 11th week. The song becomes Keith's first million-selling digital hit this week. That surprised me, but many of Keith's biggest hits came just before digital sales really took off about five years ago. Here are Keith's next four biggest digital sellers, and their years of release: 2002's "Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)" (899K), 2005's "As Good As I Once Was" (860K), 2003's "Beer For My Horses" (with Willie Nelson, 804K) and 2003's "I Love This Bar" (780K). "The Motto" by Drake featuring Lil Wayne jumps from #23 to #19 in its eighth week…Gavin DeGraw's "Not Over You" jumps from #24 to #21 in its 22nd week. The song tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week…Tyga's "Rack City" vaults from #40 to #23 in its seventh week. "International Love" by Pitbull featuring Chris Brown jumps from #33 to #24 in its 10th week. This is one of those records that I pegged as a sure-fire #1 hit as soon as I heard it. Others have included "Nothin' On You" by B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars, "Give Me Everything" by Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer and "Coming Home" by Diddy-Dirty Money featuring Skyler Grey. Faithful chart followers will know that "Coming Home" peaked at #11. Well, I didn't say it always works…Brown has a second song that's moving up the chart. "Strip" (featuring Kevin McCall) leaps from #85 to #64 in its fourth week. "Turn Me On" by David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj vaults from #51 to #25 in its sixth week. Guetta's previous hit, "Without You" (featuring Usher), tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week…Breathe Carolina's "Blackout" jumps from #46 to #41 in its 10th week. "Ass Back Home" by Gym Class Heroes featuring Neon Hitch vaults from #82 to #57 in its fourth week…Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" re-enters the chart at #58, a new high for the song. The song, the follow-up to the former top 10 hit "Mr. Know It All," had previously climbed as high as #64…Jake Owen's "Alone With You" jumps from #74 to #60 in its fifth week. "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" by will.i.am featuring Mick Jagger and Jennifer Lopez vaults from #90 to #62 in its fourth week. Jagger has worked with a wide range of artists on his Hot 100 hits. John Lennon sang a backing vocal on the Rolling Stones' "We Love You" in 1967. Jagger was featured on Peter Tosh's 1978 chart hit "(You Got To Walk And) Don't Look Back." Jagger and David Bowie formed a collabo of some distinction on 1985's top 10 hit "Dancing In The Street." Incidentally, will.i.am is obviously fond of acronyms. The Black Eyed Peas' 2009 album was titled The E.N.D., which stood for Energy Never Dies. The Black Keys' "Lonely Boy" jumps from #79 to #69 in its ninth week.
