I can defiantly see where you can get that this is a filler song, but I have been waiting for Carrie to do a song like this her whole career. It is just so different from anything she has ever done.

I broke down and listened to the demo of 'Leave Love Alone'. As it is, if the melody or lyrics are kept exactly the same, even Carrie's amazing vocals could never salvage that track as both the verses and choruses are just so repetitive and goes nowhere, not to mention no good bridge. In other words, I hope it is left off the upcoming album.
'Some Hearts' is the closest Carrie has come to a great album from beginning to finish, IMO. Her last two records had too many skippers/fillers, especially 'Play On', which for me consisted of at least half filler material and remains and the biggest album disappointment of her career. I am hopeful after reading Carrie's comments about the upcoming record to date, that it will be solid from start to finish.....

I actually like the demo. It's defenitely something we haven't heard from her before, the only thing is that the lyrics could've been better. Just wondering because it doesn't really have any filler or skippers for me.

Admittedly, she does kill that one live though. In addition, I skip 'Get Out of This Town', 'The More Boys I Meet', and 'Twisted'. I know that 'Crazy Dreams' may not be popular, but it is one of my favourite tracks from the record.

The demo doesn't do anything at all for me. I hope it's left off the album.

What makes us so sure that it's coming on the album? According to this link, it's on Gordie Sampson's credits list for an upcoming Carrie release.

Carrie was at the Drake concert in Nashville last night. Picture with a fan.I know that 'Crazy Dreams' may not be popular, but it is one of my favourite tracks from the record. Crazy Dreams is one of my all-time favorite Carrie standards.

Yes, the lyrics to "Leave Love Alone" are repetitive. But so are the lyrics to IKYW, and we know what kind of fan favorite that song has become. Carrie's vocals take it to a whole new level, and they probably will for LLA as well.

Wow, I wasn't expecting Leave Love Alone to be on her album. I had Hillary's demo for months and never though of her singing it... Well, it has some nice feel on it... We'll have to way until we hear the full production.
Listening to it now after some time. It's catchy.

That goes for everyone myself included.

this is probably my bias talking, because ikyw is like in my top 5 carrie songs ever, and i dont think that will ever change regardless of what carrie releases in the future. but i dont think ikyw is repetitive in a bad sense. the "i know you" lyrics is clever word play more than just mindless repetition. plus the end of the chorus gives that lyrics a cool twist by adding "won't".
i wouldnt mind "repetitive" lyrics if it isnt mindless repetition, or just lazy songwriting in general. imo, leave love alone borders on lazy songwriting, and thats why the lyrics are repetitive. ikyw couldnt be any farther from lazy songwriting, and its "repetitive" lyrics is to drive a point. and its clever play of the "i know you" vs the "i know you wont" lyrics is the song's strongest point.

I know that the Carrie fans consider Play On her worst album, but it's my favorite. The singles (other than "Cowboy" and "Undo It") weren't good choices. I don't care for "Cowboy Casanova" or "Undo It," but they made great singles. "Temporary Home" is a great album track, but I didn't feel like it was a good single. Sure it made number one, but I don't remember the last time I heard it on the radio or saw the video. We've all discussed "Mama's Song" enough. It's a pretty song with a beautiful video. I love "What Can I Say," "Quitter," and "Someday When I Stop Loving You." I think that "Quitter" would have been a good single. It's fun, feel good, and it's an uptempo that isn't a boy basher. I also love "Look at Me," but Carrie doesn't seem to like it, so I knew that it would have never been a single.
On a future looking outlook, I loved the "Good Girl" clip. It was stuck in my head a good chunk of the day on Tuesday.

I look at her albums like this:
Some Hearts was the most cohesive album.
Carnival Ride was an album (almost completely) full of potential singles tailor-made for Country Radio. The bad thing (for me) from this album was its loud production. Imagine some of those songs if they were stripped down: wow.
Play On truly showed off Carrie's vocals as something other than a belter and I thought, was the best produced album out of the three. Where song-for-song it wasn't the best album of the three and lacked a cohesive-ness, it did bring us some fan-favorites: "Cowboy Casanova", "What Can I Say", and "Someday When I Stop Loving You" (Many seem to really like "Unapologize" too...)

I don't know if there was a IKYW demo floating around before CR came out (if there was, I never knew it existed), but I think if I had stumbled upon IKYW lyrics on paper, or even the demo with someone else's vocals, I would feel that the song shouldn't have been included in the CR tbh. Heck, even with Carrie singing it, it took many live versions to make me love the song, tbqh. Not a big fan of the album version. I think there are many "singer's songs" out there that tend to be really repetitive and simplistic in lyrics. I'll personally wait to hear the final Carrie's version of "Leave Love Alone" before deciding if it works for the new album. A personal lesson learned from doubting Carrie in the past :)

Personally, I still think that CR is the greatest album of the three. It gives off great versatility. I know that the Carrie fans consider Play On her worst album, but it's my favorite. It was stuck in my head a good chunk of the day on Tuesday. It's nice to see an explained opinion of something isn't usually ever depicted in the thread. I haven't really come across people that think that PO is the best album, so I'm glad I got to read your outlook on it, Billy.

As regards 'Leave Love Alone', I love the instrumentation reminds me of the folk songs of Maritime provinces in Canada and also a similarity to an older song, 'Love is a Rose' by LR. Love the instrumentation. The simplicity of the lyrics and repetition I believe is intentional and for me it works. Some of Neil Diamonds songs are short on lyrics but lovely melody. It may never be a single, but I'm looking forward to Carrie's rendition and hope that she softens the 'twang' that I hear on the demo.

Play On is personally my favorite album of the three. I love all three but song for song I love Play On the most. My favorite Carrie songs (Wasted, JAD) are not on PO but I still love almost every song on the album.
I agree also that vocally Carrie traversed new territory on Play On and showed growth as a vocalist in interpretation, restraint, utilizing her gorgeous head voice, working with her tone on songs like Mama's Song and TH, etc. Maybe that is why PO is my favorite although I am not suggesting that Carrie's vocals on her prior two albums are anything short of gorgeous.

I adore SH Because it was the first country album I ever bought and it's extremely cohesive. Both CR and PO had to grow on me, but aside from the standout cuts on both her first and second albums, I really love the ballads and most of the mids on PO because they are the most love-relationship driven. Aside from Just A Dream (which is gorgeous, but sad) and I Told You So (which is too stripped down for me), I don't really feel Carrie has released a love ballad as a single, yet. I really hope she does with this album.

Glad to see Play On getting some love. I listened to it completely on a whim the other day, and it kills me how underrated it is. Someday When I Stop Loving You and What Can I Say are some of my favorite Carrie ballads ever, not to mention great uptempo tracks like CC, Songs Like This, and Unapologize (I even took a liking to Undo It after awhile). Like everyone else said, she showed quite a bit of vocal growth, as well. I feel that if the singles were done differently, it would have sold much better than what it did... maybe even 3x Platinum.
