Just saw the Emmy promo, Carrie will be performing. Elton John will be singing also. I overheard the commercial last night too when my mom was watching TV. Was going to post something but couldn't find anything in a Google search, so I thought I was hearing things. So glad it's true! I can't wait!

any thought on what she'll be performing? Memorial tribute w/SYA? Love SYA but I'm hoping she's doing something else ,at least a diffrent song.

I'm thinking either she's debuting the new single, or she's performing something to do with TSOM. I just have a hard time with the latter option because she's been out and about for a while, I doubt she's rehearsed enough. We'll see!

I'm thinking either she's debuting the new single, or she's performing something to do with TSOM. These were also what I thought, though they don't make much sense - the Emmys aren't the type of show to have musicians come and perform current singles or debut their new one, and The Sound Of Music is going to be on NBC while the Emmys are airing on CBS, and I don't think CBS would take time out of their broadcast to essentially promote another network's program. This performance is quite puzzling, and that isn't a complaint. I'm more than happy to see her perform on television again, I just can't for the life of me figure out what she'll be performing.

Which then leads me to the third thought that it could be some sort of tribute, probably regarding the Navy field massacre... Edit: From the Emmy's official site: "Our traditional In Memoriam segment will be presented in a unique new format that will give added importance to an already much anticipated segment of the Emmy show". ... This is probably where Carrie comes in, I think.

65th Emmy Awards to Honor 50th Anniversary of 1963 Television MilestonesSix-time Emmy nominee Don Cheadle will present a moving tribute to television's role in the assassination coverage of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 and then connect that event to the performance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show merely 80 days later on February 9, 1964.
Following Cheadle's presentation, six-time Grammy® Award winning artist Carrie Underwood will honor the music of the era with a special performance.

The poster for The Sound of Music has been released: There's also a rumor that Carrie will be performing at the Emmys on Sunday, although I've seen no confirmation from any official sources. Oh, gosh...that reminds me of the poster for The 40-Year-Old Virgin. It's cute, though.

I feel like there is something music-wise coming that will hit radio that we are just not aware of yet (maybe a big duet or something), otherwise I don't see the logic in ending the era considering how long we can assume it will take before Album 5 takes the world by storm.

Man it all went by so fast. :o I can't believe the Blown Away era started in February 2012 with Good Girl and now ended with only four singles. There were plenty more great tracks. I'm happy that the four singles were extremely strong though. It just flew by. I want more Carrie!

"Do You Think About Me" will go down as Carrie's biggest missed opportunity on radio. Such a shame!

I agree, that comment from Carrie sounds like she has something else planned. It doesn't make any logical sense to keep her off the radio for a year+. Album #5 won't be coming out until fall of next year at the earliest. I sure hope they have at least something planned for radio for the next year.

Well that's just sad. Leaving songs better than just about anything on the radio unreleased. Guess she should write a song about "moonlight, tailgates and daisy dukes" ;)

Very disappointed to hear that the Blown Away album era is over. There were still at least two more singles they could have milked off it. I still consider Blown Away to be her best album.

I love all four of the singles released and they all deserved to be released. But I'm kinda devastated that neither "Good in Goodbye" nor "Wine After Whiskey" are going to see the light of day.

NO !!!
Why can't they release the masterpiece WAW ???!!!
The BA era went way too fast.
Speaking of 'exciting things too come', i remember that someone said the duet with STEVEN TYLER would get a country version. Is that right? Can we expect it to be released to country radio?

Why does Carrie almost never get more than 4 singles an album? Miranda's album came out before Carrie's and still has singles at radio! I just don't get it.

I actually agree to end the album here. I just don't see any other strong radio songs on the album. I'd rather get smash new material than releasing something that performs mediocre on the charts.

I HIGHLY disagree. "Wine After Whiskey" was a country mega-hit waiting to happen, and so was "Do You Think About Me".

What "smash new material" are you referring to? Carrie is in rehearsals for the CMAs and especially Sound of Music. She won't have any new music for a long time. That's why I don't get the lack of a 5th single. At all. At best she will have a lead single drop next...March? Miranda has a 5th single out now even though she's recording new material. Carrie won't be recording for awhile, yet has no new single.

Carrie isn't going to even start writing the next album until January or February, so depending on how long the writing process takes we could be waiting into 2015 for the next album.

"Do You Think About Me" and "Wine After Whiskey" both would have been easy #1s. Never thought they'd end after "See You Again", really thought we'd get one more. Something music wise has got to be coming to radio, it just doesn't make sense otherwise. It doesn't cost a label that much to promote a song at radio right?

Carrie is a big enough star that she can afford taking risks. In fact, I wish more of the bigger stars would opt for some somewhat riskier releases, because that's how the format continues to change and evolve. Carrie has helped in that aspect with releases such as "Blown Away" and "Two Black Cadillacs", because sonically they pushed the envelope a bit. But I felt like she could come back with a really nice traditional song like "Wine After Whiskey", as the genre is sorely lacking in that sound. It would be a little bit riskier than your typical obvious radio song, but she's Carrie Underwood, so there's no way radio wouldn't have played that song.
I'm incredibly disappointed that they didn't release WAW. I'm not a traditionalist or a purist by any means but I do miss some of the old school country sounds on today's country radio, and Carrie is the perfect person to release a more traditional-leaning song. She obviously releases plenty of other material, and so that's why I think she would be perfect to sneak in a more traditional type of song every now and then. I don't know their reasons for not releasing a 5th single, but they had multiple options. I'm merely stating my preference for WAW. Radio would play it. And it could've had a shot at getting some love at the award shows next year.
I know not everyone is in favor of a greatest hits CD (or some sort of compilation), but I'm starting to think one could happen. Carrie was absent from the airwaves for quite some time between "Mama's Song" and "Good Girl" (although "Remind Me" did fill part of that gap). But I don't think she wants to put her fans through that again, and so within just the past few days I've started to think that a greatest hits/compilation CD might be in the works, and might include 2-3 new songs. She wouldn't have to write the songs, because there were plenty of tunes written for Blown Away that didn't make the final cut. She could even dig farther back than the BA era if she wanted to.
I don't usually like greatest hits CD's either but in this case I wouldn't oppose one, but only if Carrie did record 2-3 new songs for it. That way there wouldn't be such a huge gap again, because as it stands now, it seems like the gap between BA and album #5 will be even longer than the gap between PO and BA. I agree that new music from the next studio album seems like it could be 9-10 months away, if not more. And so I would be ok with such a project if we got a new song/single.

Full quote from The Country Vibe: Carrie Underwood celebrated the #1 success of her song "See You Again" with a party in Nashville yesterday afternoon, and she said that song marks the end of the Blown Away chapter for her, but there would be no shortage of things happening this fall to keep her busy. "I have The Sound of Music, which I will be recording for that, and the Willie Nelson duet happening, and even some surprises along the way," she teased. She's definitely got something up her sleeve.

Yeah, it seems a "Greatest Hits" compilation could be in the works. Why else would they stop only at four singles? If they plan for a first quarter release, the single would/could be released soon after TSOM, therefore allowing Carrie to promote it, and the album. Then, while that single is climbing, she can start work on the new album and have a single ready in time for mid/late 2014. If this comes to be, I would have preferred if they waited one more album, but I do understand the reason for doing it during what will likely be Carrie's longest lull since her career began.
I too am upset at WAW not seeing the light of day. Like "I Told You So", it would have been a wonderful close to the era, and somewhat of a statement toward the country music community. I truly think it would have made a HUGE splash and would have easily won her many awards over the next year. I should have known seeing as how she only performed it live like twice, ever... But still, once again a true gem is being left behind. Such a shame....

Make a greatest hits album. Call it "Oklahoma Wind". Have it be released as the first single. Perfect segway from the "Blown Away" era. Slay all.

I'm not sold on the idea of a greatest hits album just yet, but if it involves releasing "Oklahoma Wind" I'd be all for it.
