Can't wait to see this video!
As for the "backlash" she is recieving. Hope she holds strong because she is standing on the right side of history here. It really wasn't that long ago that marrying someone of a different race was illegal in this country. Could you imagine the twitterverse back then? I am a christian, but their is extremeist in every religion and ours have been louder than normal lately and it is very sad to me. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were more concerned with the two people taking wedding vows actually meaning what they say than who they are. jmo............rant over :)

Carrie's comments also can do a lot for gay singer/songwriter Chely Wright. And that shouldn't be ignored, either.

I wonder where artists like Taylor, Miranda, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, etc. Stand on this issue. Just asking.

I wonder where artists like Taylor, Miranda, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, etc. Stand on this issue. Just asking. I would assume Taylor is pretty open minded. She and Carrie share a lot of fans, many of whom are gay. Just like Reba and Dolly... Taylor is also very young, and not heavily religious. All the others you listed, I have no clue...

I work in Nashville in the music industry and today is the first day that this story is really getting a ton of chatter around the eating establishments, on the mid-day newscasts, radio etc. It's also the first day I've felt like the bad vibe has outweighed the good vibe in terms of reaction around here.

WBYZ 94.5 took calls from listeners regarding Carrie's comments. Don't listen if you don't want to rage. Seriously, how can that guy even be employed? Anyway, on to the positive... @wildaboutmusic: I'm always blown away to know & sometimes even get to work with @carrieunderwood. But I've never been prouder than THIS week. + Here's a really nice 'thank you' from country radio programmer Jaye Albright: The wonderful people of country music and radio businesses have, in general, been far more supportive of me than I expected in the 19 years since I started a personal gender transition which culminated in a 1995 transsexual surgery that had no negative impact on what has been a great career in a very satisfying job.Garth Brooks released "We Shall Be Free" and performed at an AIDS benefit at about the same time and I drew tremendous support from that act from a courageous star.
Chely Wright, I hear, feels that the business could have been more supportive of her decision to come out in a public way as Lesbian. That's sad to hear, given her fabulous radio track record that 99 out of 100 hopefuls who come to Nashville have to be quite envious about, in spite of some ups and downs along the way. It exciting to see her finally coming to grips with it all creatively in a new film, out this month.
I've learned that we have to take our sustenance from where it comes and be grateful for the good things along the way, and I'll bet they have as well.
That's why, Country Radio and Nashville Music Business, I want you to be extra nice to Carrie Underwood right now.
I don't mean that you need to say a word about her pro/con on the air.
Part of making a self-affirming decision such as I made is understanding that as I resolved my own personal confusion it no doubt created confusion for others who were unprepared to deal with or accept it. Those folks have every right to their feelings too, of course, and country music radio is about reflecting real life and making people feel better.
All I ask is this. Play a little extra Carrie this week.
No one else will notice, perhaps, but I am betting she will know and get the message of support the same way I have over the years from Garth, Chely and now her.
That's what friends are for.

[/blockquote] [/quote] The answer to how he can be employed is that he is in the bible belt in Ga...no excuse but hey they still fly the confederate flag down here and there is still a difference in how blacks are treated...so hopefully you will understand why he is employed here and why the comments from callers are what they are...very sad!!

This was pretty amusing all the way through, but I lost it when the guy towards the end claimed to be a "former homosexual." former? if you say so...

You have to be careful not to generalize for online comments or radio feedback. Particularly with the internet, it gives power to the anonymous. We don't know how many of those who leave the awful comments were ever Carrie fans or even country fans. Another site that strong opposes gay marriage could link to a site that has the article which would drive people there who otherwise barely know who Carrie Underwood is. Of course, some of her fans who strongly disagree with her position might have turned their back on her but it's difficult to assess the magnitude of that. So it's too early to even refer to this as "backlash". Everything will be fine. If the issue has legs or gets too big, I'm sure other artists would come to her defense which I think could even do more for the cause and would make this early drama worth it. To me, I was most impressed by the words Carrie chose to use in lending her support. She made it personal and brought home the point that Christianity and homosexuality don't have to be mutually exclusive rather than come across as lecturing or pushing an agenda. I think that will resonate with those who are on the fence about the issue.

^ That's one of the things I love most about Carrie. She always expresses her opinions and beliefs in a personal, classy and sincere way. She has never been preachy or judgmental of other people. She really does walk the walk. <3

The song will go to radio long before the adds date, I'm sure, but does this mean we'll be waiting until mid-July or later to get the music video?

I think that with the July add-date, they're trying to get it peak around the CMAs week, maybe? or maybe 4 months is too much and Blown Away will peak earlier?!

I guess if you're against gay marriage and saw Carrie's statement, while viewing that HGTA video, you just might be slightly confused about her beliefs. I think you can be religious and still believe ^^in evolution, that the Earth is way over 6000 years old and yes, ^^in gay marriage. How about that. I'm not a religious person, but I am spiritual. I believe ^^in what I just posted. Funny how that works.

Well, there is obviously some room for interpretation when it comes to the Bible and its stance on homosexuality, but to me that's not even the point. Some people could be confused, and that's fine. But that doesn't excuse/explain statements of hate, protest, etc.

Carrie gained over 30,000 new Twitter followers since her gay marriage stance was revealed. Miley Cyrus tweeted in support of Carrie, and in support of her participating in the NOH8 Campaign (famous equal rights movement that tons of celebrities are a part of). NOH8 Campaign's official Twitter tweeted the article and mentioned Carrie, and then later on retweeted Miley Cyrus' tweet about Carrie joining in on the campaign. Kacey Musgraves also tweeted in support of Carrie, as did Bomshel, Chely Wright (who also wrote on FB), Peter Frampton, David Wild, and then Tony Thomas' confidence for Carrie's future. Amazing feedback, and the media is just now picking up on it. GLAAD and Human Rights Advocate websites have also picked up on it and have sent major thanks to Carrie. Oh, and GG crossed 1 million in sales this week. Another Platinum single for Carrie, and it's still in the Top 40 on the iTunes all-genre songs chart!

Kudos to Carrie for standing up for what she believes in. I'm sure she's receiving a lot of postive feedback right now but the country music industry is pretty conservative. Maybe things have changed but I remember they completely turned their back on K.D. Lang and then more recently that other chick who's name I can remember.
Of course Carrie isn't gay soo......

At the end of the day, Carrie will come out of this situation looking good, and on the right side of history.

Good for Carrie for speaking out in such a classy, respectful way. There is way too much hate in the world, and I respect anyone who doesn't stand for that. All people deserve to be loved and respected for who they are.
Thank you, Carrie!!!
I've always had so much respect for her as an artist and person because she seems like such a caring open-minded woman. She always seems so cognizant of the influence she has and I love that she uses it to send messages of positivity and acceptance.
