radio is SIGNIFICANTLY less relevant than ever before...mp3 libraries, YouTube, Spotify, Shazam, commercials, movie soundtracks, etc...there are so many outlets to listen to music these days & with people driving less during this virus outbreak & radio’s primary impact in cars, radio’s importance will likely continue to shrink Jazz, vinyl, CDs, AM...they are all well past their prime...they still exist but are marginal...as FM radio will become increasingly marginal I really don't listen to radio anymore. I still sometimes listen to Rock 105.3. They are mainstream rock and they still have hair Metal Wednesdays (I think?). 91x became all corporate, so I lost interest. (they won't play "Sex Type Thing" three times in a row anymore) :( Now I listen to Max105.7. Used to play 70-80's hits all the time, but the American operators fell behind on their rent so the Mexican owner cut them off. www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2018/dec/14/mexicans-cut-max-1057/ Now they changed their format to 80's-2010's but they mostly playing blocs of alternative rock 80'-90's bands like OMD, New Order and Dead Or Alive, and get ready for it....... 80's hair/glam metal blocs from bands like Whitesnake/ Ozzy as well as sandwich blocs which could include one song from Skid Row/Y&T/Dokken/Krokus ...ect... Corporate radio can die for all I care as long as I have FM 105.7 Also if you wanna visit one of the last huge vinyl graveyards stop by my pad.

You made that really hard by putting at least one travesty in the mix. Almost impossible to choose houses with my top charting songs. It came to #5,6,and 14 for me. I pick #5 for Alter Bridge, Kenny Hoopla and the Ded song which is pretty fierce. "Strangers is horrible but at least it doesn't feature a cameo. if #5 becomes quarantined I'll move to #6.

I feel like House #6 has the best lineup of songs. Each other house has a song or two that isn’t good or too many that I haven’t heard, and that really brings some houses down. The one song I hadn’t heard in House #6, Back To Me is alright and doesn’t bring the house down in any way.

While I understand that several active rock bands lean right (most notable Kid Rock, FFDP, Ted Nugent, All That Remains, and according to macattack, A7X), one band I feel is taking it too far and that is Trapt, who are blocking several users who disagree with their right-leaning views. Notably, the frontman (who runs their Twitter), has had Twitter beefs with From Ashes to New, multiple I Prevail members, a Trivium band member, Zach Myers of Shinedown, and Sumerian Records, who are best known for having artists such as Asking Alexandria, Through Fire and Sleeping with Sirens on their roster. He also has repeatedly mocked Bernie Sanders and his supporters. Thoughts on the issue? You can check their Twitter feed here: twitter.com/TRAPTOFFICIAL
And in other news, Puddle of Mudd actually covers Nirvana!

I can’t tell which is more hilarious; the fact that the Trapt twitter account frequently delves into right-leaning politics and argues with other artists (most recently Ice-T) or Wes Scantlin’s vocals on that cover. On another topic, anyone know a source where I can find Billboard rock (AAA, alt and active) year end charts pre-2006? Billboard doesn’t seem to want to list any year end charts from before then for some reason. I know at least some exist because that’s what people use partially for rock rankdowns.

Daryl the Beryl You don't need to take my word for it with A7X's right-leaning views, just hear it from the horse's mouth here. This is about as open as they've ever been about it, though.

The Trapt rants are pretty hilarious in their idiocy. But since they also saying that they have a new album coming out soon, maybe this is a good way to promote their stuff. I do occasionally get the feeling after something blows up that "Hmm, they have had some pretty good songs on their albums, time to revisit them"

Meanwhile after another political post, a promotion is tacked on the end "First single for our new album “Shadow Work,” is called “Make It Out Alive” and hits next month with another song and pre order! Can’t wait to play these new songs for you all!!"

Chris Brown certainly meant it when he sang "headstrong to take on anyone", didn't he?
If "Make It Out Alive" gets a high position on Hot Rock, though, he and the rest of the band will be laughing all the way to the bank. I doubt that will occur, but this has been a crazy-ass year so far, anything can happen.

Yesterday's Release Day Friday wasn't anywhere as big as they have been in weeks past as many artists have been delaying their albums. The biggest name on this list is likely Fiona Apple. Alternative veterans Soul Asylum also had new stuff drop among other names that you may recognize.
If there was anything else that I might have forgotten, please comment it below.

No, but they do have a song called, "If You Don't Support Donald Trump and Support Bernie Sanders, We'll Block You on Twitter". Ok, they don't, but that is their attitude on Twitter now, and as I mentioned in my post on the previous page, a few rock bands have already called them out on the issue. Sure enough, there's no such thing as bad publicity, but at the rate they're (or rather, Chris Taylor Brown) handling Twitter now, I can't see them scoring another huge hit.

So, what do you guys think is going to be THE alt hit of the year? Basically the song that crosses over to pop. Will there be one?
2019 didn’t have much in terms of that. I guess that one Panic! song and those Billie Eilish songs count, but really the only song that started on alt and then went over to pop was Trampoline.
