This is a bit off-topic, but I figured you all might have some advice on what to do here.
Ok so, I've been listening to music for roughly nineteen years and I'm guesstimating that over the years I have bought or downloaded around 800 albums and made about 175 mixes. Whatever I download, I end up burning to a CD cause I guess I still kick it old school. Anyway, it's gotten to the point where I have three full drawers of CD holders. Pretty much an entire drawer set full.
I've always thought of transferring everything to a computer, portable storage device, or iPod or such. However, that would be incredibly time consuming, possibly expensive to buy a device to hold that all, and would take up a ton of computer space if went that route.
I'm assuming some of you have similar incredibly big music collections as well, so does anyone have any specific method of where you store all of your music?

I store my music exactly the way you suggested doing. It took me a day to rip all my 100 odd CDs on my computer, so I'd imagine it would take you well over a week. It's up to you. Maybe select your 300 favorite albums from your collection to burn on your computer. Then get an iPod Classic to put all that good stuff on. It's a bit expensive, but it's worth it.

An iPod Classic is the way to go. I was lucky enough to start when all I had was about 20 burnt CDs and a few bought ones. Now I'm over 7500 songs.

Thanks guys for the great advice. An iPod Classic certainly seems like the best thing to do as all of my music would still only take up about 1/3 of it. I'd probably be set for life on that thing.

RHCP has released the first of nine 7" singles containing each two leftovers of the "I'm With You" sessions. The songs, "Strange Man" and "Long Progression", are here:
Once again, they leave great songs off the albums. I'm stoked for what's coming next.

This seems like a good thread to put this. I was messing around with MixCraft last night for the first time in a long time and that got me in a musical mood, so today I wrote the first lyrics I've written in a long time and I sang them. Please be kind. It's a capella but I might end up doing something with them in the future. For now I just wanted to share. soundcloud.com/starseed3231/the-end-shines-so-bright

I don't know why, but I was getting a Taproot vibe from that first song you posted. I thought you penned some really cool lyrics there aswell. Are you envisaging that song as being a ballad or a mid-tempo?

Are you envisaging that song as being a ballad or a mid-tempo? Well now that you mention it, I guess mid-tempo. I dunno. I mean, I envision "The End" and "World Around You" both being slow-paced in the verses but having a hard-hitting chorus. I think "World Around You" might lean more toward ballad; I gotta rework it though cause now I'm feeling it needs a prechorus. And of course "The Pinnacle" is just fast-paced all the way. It'll make more sense once I make music to go with the words. Thank you for your comments. I appreciate your feedback.

This might seem strange, but I was getting a vibe more along the lines of Andy Grammar. Your voice is pretty good. Have you considered joining or starting a band?

Okay, so no more absurd threads like the Pink one, so I'll post here and we can discuss about it.
Maroon 5 just entered the Top 50 on AAA with "One More Night." Thoughts? Oh, and it's the same station that played "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" enough to make it Top 50 (KCTZ - Minneapolis).

He was talking to me about it a bit. They're definitely writing new music for it. It potentially seemed like they weren't done promoting the current record. He was saying that they've so far been pegged as an active rock band based on the singles, but they feel that other songs on the record showcase more crossover potential to alternative, pop, country, etc.

I don't remember hearing any of that on the album. They shouldn't be shy to be pegged as an active rock band, they should embrace it. That way when they do something outside of their depth then they'll be noticed all the more.

I think what he means is that most of the record isn't as '00s post-grunge/hard rock as "Medicate". The other songs have more of a 90s alt-rock vibe to them, but they feel like "Medicate" pegged them as more of a Pop Evil/Adelitas Way type band when they're naturally more of a Foo Fighters type band if that makes sense.

Billboard's Rock Songs chart has changed its methodology for this week, starting to rank songs based not only on airplay, but on sales and streaming. As a result, Mumford & Sons' whole album is on the chart, Phillip Phillips' "Home" jumps to #3 from #42, and Train's "50 Ways to Say Goodbye" debuts at #4. Not a nice move, in my opinion. Monday's Chart Highlights shows a Rock Airplay chart which seems to be what the old Rock Songs was, does anyone know where I can get to see it?

Bleh, Billboard messed that one up. Now we'll constantly get pop/rock groups charting on a "rock" chart.

I wish they did not change Rock Songs chart. I preferred it the way it was before.

Me too. I hope disassociative includes the Rock Airplay chart when he updates the Alternative/Mainstream Rock thread.

It's time to give KITS some credit. Right now "Madness" is the only song that has over 62 spins. Unfortunately, it's at the cost of ancient songs gaining huge spins. You can't win them all, I guess.

On my day off from the studio, I finally got around to doing something I've been meaning to for almost a year now, which is listen to Gotye's Making Mirrors in its entirety (up until now, I had only heard 5 songs from the album). Let's just say he if ends up a one hit wonder in America, that says a lot more about us than it does about him. Stellar album. And I still stand by the fact that "Eyes Wide Open" should have done a lot better i the U.S. than it did.

^ You only just heard that album? I agree, it's very outstanding. He is a very good producer, let alone a musician and songwriter.

Anyone heard anything about the Crash Kings follow-up? I think they announced that it was mastered like a year ago. Their debut was solid.

I haven't heard anything as far the album goes, but going 4 years without releasing anything is a dangerous game to play in the modern world of radio. I think Fair to Midland suffered from taking too long to release their second album.
