Pretty slow day for 'LOT.' Hopefully we get a good one tomorrow :) That's because UAC is playing Whitney's songs like crazy, like they should! I suspect LOT will recover in a few days. Can anyone post the airplay for Whitney's songs, please? Thanks!

Whitney Houston's 'How Will I Know' Hit No. 1 on This Date in 1986 February 15, 2012 By Gary Trust, New York As Whitney Houston returns to the Billboard 200's top 10 with Whitney: The Greatest Hits, which re-enters the chart at No. 6 with 64,000 copies sold in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan (in the tracking week that ended Feb. 12, thus reflecting only one full day of sales after her passing), today (Feb. 15) marks a memorable milestone in the late legend's career. On this date 26 years ago, Houston ascended to the Billboard Hot 100 summit with her second No. 1, "How Will I Know."

i'm pretty surprised Kelly stays on for a 3rd week. Cool for her. American Idol loves it when she's #1. They should have her sing that song on the show soon.

If Madonna misses the Top 10 it will highlight how stupid the Friday releases are, it could have easily gone Top 10 with a Monday digital release.

The Top 3 next week is going to be insane, something like: 1. Part of Me 2. Set Fire to the Rain 3. Rolling in the Deep

How that's insane, except RITD?
Which is probably not going to sell enough rest of the week to be top 3.

I don't think RITD will be Top 3. It's airplay is around 30 mil, and it well start to fall down on iTunes towards the end of the week. I think Kelly will be #3.

cesarams, BDS' spins-based chart are Monday-Sunday; audience-based charts are Wednesday-Tuesday. Thanks. That's 'cause I always keep trying to know about it. And I always think why BDS numbers are lower than Madiabase.

Mediabase's Quick-Cut page probably includes data from more stations than BDS- especially for country radio.
I added Whitney's 7-day-rolling airplay info a couple posts up. We should see several of her singles appear on the recurrent charts.

If their goal was a top ten, the day of the week it was released may have hurt Madonna. But, they put an insane amount of effort in otherwise.
I would agree that the song is simply not good enough. I'd say it's even weaker than "American Life" was as a lead single (although certainly more "radio-friendly" than AL).

I wonder where 'American Life' would have landed were the singles market a bit stronger in 2003. If I recall, it was also played every hour on the hour initially by KIIS.

^I don't think AL would've done much better than it did. They released a commercial single, which gave it a leg up over a lot of songs, and that still barely allowed it to crack the top 40. In fact it may have even done worse if released in a market like today.

^It is more radio-friendly than "American Life"- and just as Madonna-centric. Her best tracks are universal- this one's pretty much a playful ode to the wannabes and all, and that she's kinda demanding their fans to give their love to her- may not go over well for some (aside from those who just may not like it in general). "American Life" peaked at No. 61 on Hot 100 Airplay; when it jumped to No. 37 on the Hot 100, it had scanned 11,500 or so. It actually did have digital sales of 4K or so that came from Madonna's web site (that helped propel it to its No. 90 entry a couple of weeks prior). EDIT: Shout out to our friends north of the U.S. border: GMAYL jumps to No. 1 on the Canadian Hot 100.

^Warner Bros. didn't care- it was her last album with the label, a compilation (after she's had some previously) and the track itself- well, to me- was a little flatter than GMAYL- but still fine for fun, dancing, that kind of thing.

I think Billboard is waiting for Interscope to transfer $100k into their back account before they publish the Hot 100!

I'll bet a "Million Dollar Bill" that Billboard is delaying the Hot 100 to decide whether or not to let catalog singles re-enter the Hot 100 due to the impressive sales of LWALY!
I hope they don't allow it.

I hope they don't allow it. If they're going to do that, they might as well just scrap the Hot 100 altogether and just have Hot Digital Songs be their main chart.
