I thought Roman is suppose to be mainly rap? According to her recent interview, she said the album is very diverse. I figured she would go to this route with a pop song. It would have been in her best interest if she wanted a hit from her album because she wouldn't have gotten it with Roman rapping and talking crazy stuff.
Stick to fun songs like this Nicki.
Good job.
On first listened, I didn't like it. But I do now! Definitely sounds like a fun club song to party to.

I don't understand what you guys want from Nicki. You bash her when she's too out there and then you bash her for trying to fit in I hate when people say an artist has sold out. ----------------------------------------------------- Earlier in her career, she DID say eventually, she wanted to do Pop. What's wrong with expanding your brand, if it already proved successful?(Super Bass, Turn Me On,Where Them Girls At?) It's different for her though, no more of the promo singles tho.

I hate when people say an artist has sold out. What was Super Bass, Fly, Gimme all your Luvin? SPRING BREAK/SUMMER ANTHEM :'( Many hip hop fans, impressed by her brilliant verses on mixtapes and "Monster" were quite dissappointed when her album turned out to lean very heavily on the pop side. I think most accepted that she was trying to appeal to more of the mainstream audience but that she would eventually come back to her roots once she was established. The first single off her second album staying firmly in the pop arena just confirms that she wants to continue doing music that will sell and make her money. No harm in that but it's considered to be selling out to a lot of people.

She has lost it.
This may be a hit but she is not going to sell albums without the support of her urban fanbase.

I think she has something hot for Urban. They are probably just releasing the Pop first. That is weird though considering she has Turn Me On for CHR listeners to tide over. I would have gone with something hard for Urban first and then release this when Turn Me On died out.

'Super Bass' wasn't made for the intention of being a single though. It was a bonus track on Pink Friday that blew up from word of mouth. This release was planned and executed by her and the label. It probably is difficult at this point to find a song to appeal to all audiences and not lose a certain fanbase that helped propel you to stardom.

Besides Super Bass, I've never seen anything but very mixed reviews for all her releases. This should be a hit.

I like this! I despise the phrase "sell out" and don't at all agree with accusing an artist of doing it just because the song is pop. I can understand just not liking the song, but I hope it's not for that reason.
If people refuse to like her more Urban stuff just because she also does pop, that's really ridiculous IMO. Stupid. Etc.

It's not bad at all. And I agree with everyone saying that you all are confused on what you want from her. I dig it.

Ok I don't care if Nicki does Pop I can appreciate a song of any genre. When "Super Bass" came out I knew that was purely Nicki, but on this she sounds like some random Ke$ha-wannabe pop chick and "Turn Me On" sounds like typical Guetta not Nicki that's the problem.
She is now pandering it's like she's turning into the female version of Flo-Rida. "Pink Friday" was a very balanced album. That's what she needs to find balance.
Oh and she needs to only let Roman out for a few tracks here and there because most people don't like him (especially now after that tired attention seeking fiasco of a Grammy performance).

It's fairly generic, but I think it'll be a fast rise, fast fall kind-of hit.
Also, the chart geek in me wants to point out that should this make the Pop chart (which it will), it'll be the first top-40 hit with "starship" in the title since "You Are My Starship" by Norman Connors. It hit #38 on R&R (#27 on the Hot 100) back in 1976.

This is bad!
I totally see why people think Nicki is selling out. My opinion isn't based on that at all though. If you're going to release Pop music, at least make it good. This sounds very generic.

This is a LOT OF FUN! I think this will be a huge Spring hit. Yeah, it's a song that could've been given to many other current female starts, but isn't that the case with the majority of songs on pop radio out there anyway.... I'm really enjoying this. I think it's the generic fun pop dance song but with Nicki's touch.

Love this! Nicki was made for pop/dance music. I prefer it over her rapping.

...a culmination of Katy/Luke/Guetta, but I do enjoy this much more than Superbass, which I've never liked. Not sure what's going on with that breakdown though...? Bizarre.
May have to accept that we're not gonna get anything Monster-esque from her for the time being, but she's young, is seeing success with pop-orientated material and is on the latest Madonna single, so why not give it a bash?

It's actually a nice party song! Better than "Stupid Hoe" or "Roman In Moscow" by a long shot.

I hate when people say an artist has sold out. What was Super Bass, Fly, Gimme all your Luvin? SPRING BREAK/SUMMER ANTHEM :'( It's their way of acknowledging that it is a hit without praising it because they are not fans of the artist and/or of the direction the artist is going in.

This is pretty much another rehash of every Dr. Luke sounding song released by Britney/Katy/Kesha/Jessie J for the past 2-3 years. However, no one is tired of that sound yet so this will probably be MASSIVE.
