This served as the lead single from I Look To You in 2009. I didn't like this at all at the time. I thought it was dated, that Whitney's voice wasn't in proper shape to be singing songs like this, and I've never been a huge fan of R. Kelly's inspirational songs anyway. My opinion completely changed since her death though. The song has taken on a whole new meaning and is so poignant now. It's difficult for me to even listen to it at the moment, but I definitely appreciate it. The video is beautiful too. Everything about it just seems so fitting as the lead single from her final album.
"I Look To You" peaked at #70 on the Hot 100, #16 on the R&B chart, and #22 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

I loved this song at the time regardless what everybody thought about the vocals. This hit #1 on the gospel chart too?

Ah, thanks. I recalled seeing it on the gospel charts when I was monitoring the song. Thought it did a little better than that. The video was very beautifully shot and made me appreciate the song a lot more.

I love it. It took a whole new meaning when Kim Burrell performed it at the BET Celebration of Gospel with Whitney for me. It's a beautiful ballad, R. Kelly did a good job with the lyrics on this one.

I liked this one, but always preferred 'I Didn't Know My Own Strength.'

I liked this as well. It would have done better had Arista actually stuck to one or the other and not released both at the same time (Million Dollar Bill being the other). it did result in split decisions, my AC station skipped this one and played MDB.

I had liked it. It was a decent song, but my fave single from that era would absolutely have to be "Million Dollar Bill".

^Same. Arista should have made MDB a big hit and then released this.

I like it, I like it a lot. It had to grow on me though. I remember my very first listen, I was left thinking "...that's it?" Between that and IDKMOS (those two were the first two songs that had leaked from the project) I was bracing myself for a very subpar comeback from Whitney.
It is a very fitting lead single off her final album.
