Sum of weekly totals for some albums whose sales from Christian outlets are not added to their reported totals: BRITT NICOLE - GOLD - 11696 (19512) Thank you for this information! GO BRITT NICOLE. Gold is the best album of the year, so far, for me. It's perfect pop. I wish people would hear her, she can sing and her songs are wonderful.

I think Roger Friedman does a great job in summarizing the current state of Madonna's career in his latest article. UPDATE: Madonna "MDNA" Sells 19K Copies in Third Week“MDNA” sold 19,250 copies in its third week of release, and fell to number 16, according to hitsdailydouble.com. Previously: Madonna vs. Lionel Richie: It’s the tale of two major stars from the 1980s. Later today, when all the numbers are in, Madonna’s “MDNA” album will likely have fallen out of the top 15. Sources predict “MDNA” sold around 20,000 copies last week, more than 50% lower than its second week and miles away from its debut three weeks ago with a controversial 359,000 copies. Of course, that first week is colored by Madonna selling 185,000 copies of the CD that were “bundled” with concert tickets. The numbers were inflated. In the second week, the reality set in. The sales drop is all the more profound considering that amazon.com was selling two versions of “MDNA” — one digital, one physical — for just $5. Even that move didn’t boost sales. Richie, on the other hand, debuted with 200,000 in sales but lost his chance at number 1 with the Madonna sales promotion. Last week, Nicki Minaj grabbed number 1 from Lionel with a quick hit. But now this week, Lionel’s “Tuskegee” will finally get the top spot, with 125,000 copies. No one deserves it more. And a good thing, too, since news reports suggest that Lionel owes the IRS some back tax money. But Lionel’s number 1 is hard earned. He’s done a ton of publicity, culminating in a TV special last week on CBS. With his country music co-stars, Richie hit the CBS sweet spot of older viewers, He clearly knows who his audience is, and is happy to play to them. Madonna, however, is lot in the woods–selling a perfume named for a 20 year old documentary, and trying to act the age of her teen daughter’s pals. But who is Madonna at age 54? The audience doesn’t know, and she doesn’t seem to, either.www.forbes.com/sites/rogerfriedman/2012/04/17/madonna-mdna-steep-chart-drop-continues/I think Madonna will be just fine after this. She still is fantastic. ;) Maroon5, who arguably had one of the biggest songs of the past 12 months, has just barely crossed the million mark with their album. Beyonce, who is one of the biggest music stars in the world basically, she too had trouble passing a million. Kelly Clarkson, a massive hit and another decent hit and she's at 740k. Lots and lots of other examples, i could go on and on. Madonna is nearing gold after 3 weeks and 30 freaking years of selling records and everyone screams flop. I only wish she were held to the same standards of other artists. I agree, she will be fine and is fantastic!!!

Artists with deep catalogs such as Madonna quickly find that touring is where the money is at. All kinds of stars from yesteryear have highly successful tours but no current pop hits and are unlikely to get any in the future. Madonna falls into this category

Blue Nosed..thanks for pointing that out. Britney had what...3 top ten singles and hasn't passed 1 million, right.
Who is the next big diva with an album coming out...Mariah?

I think Madonna's last 2 albums have mostly served as excuses to have more tours.
She's more into putting on a show at this point I think -- she seems more interested even in the videos than in the music itself (GMAYL and GGW were both far better as music videos than as songs on their own).
Still enjoy her but I can't say she's had her heart in it the past several years.

I think Britney could pass a million again if she is signed to x factor. Even if she isnt i think shed pass it with a quarter four release, and a similar singles performance to FF.

With Hard Candy, I'd have to agree, but MDNA is a fantastic album Madonna put a lot of work into, and lyrically, it's far superior to HC and on par with Confessions. A million albums is hard to sell anymore. And Chartfreak, I think Mariah will have some initial interest in her first single and if it's da bomb, she may have a good era, but I still honestly can't see her selling platinum either, unless it's a 4th qtr release. AND...... Madonna will likely end up with 550-600k in sales unless something unforseen happens and that is with no radio hits. No, I don't count GMAYL as a radio hit. So, if you factor in everything, a gold album really isn't so bad! :)

Whether one likes the music or not has absolutely nothing to do with the artist's intentions. Also, since when is the tour a separate entity from the music? Madonna is going to perform these songs nearly 100 times this year and you say her heart is not in it? But some 13 years ago when she jumped from ROL to film a movie instead of performing the songs live, her heart was still in it because you thought the music was good? It doesn't make sense but I realize I'm not going to make this theory die, yet I keep trying.

No matter how long its been going on this still blows my mind:
2 ADELE 21 91,683 -40 153,268 8,735,330
8.7 million? And she just cross 8.8 this week. When will she stop? I just can't believe we are witnessing this in this day and age. Its remarkable to say the least.

Does anybody know how much Skillet's Awake actually sold? It should be already past 900,000, but I wanna know a better estimate. I've been consistently tracking since October and it's been averaging about 10% of its sales not getting added to its total each week, so you could extrapolate that it's at least over 800,000. But while that percentage has been pretty consistent it could have been largely different in the past so take that with a big grain of salt. I don't have any more official data.

It doesn't make sense but I realize I'm not going to make this theory die, yet I keep trying. I think her heart being in it making the music better makes perfect sense. I feel like her heart is not in it because it doesn't really seem like she has much to say anymore... I mean, it's hard to say something new at this point in anyone's career. If she was super excited about the music, don't you think she'd put a bit more effort into promoting it, going on talk shows, performing on TV, etc.? She puts a ton of energy into her tours now -- that's where her priorities are now. If anyone REALLY thinks MDNA or Hard Candy is better than Confessions, Music, Ray of Light, True Blue, Like a Prayer, etc., then I'd be shocked -- she set her own bar so high it's pretty hard to keep at it. Just even the producers she's choosing... William Orbit, Mirwais, and Stuart Price were not power names, but then the last couple albums it's been Pharell, Timbaland, Benny Benassi... well established producers. Solveig was an interesting choice but he is even more well known. I have adored Madonna for years but I'm not a stan -- willing to call it as it is if she's not pushing the music to be as interesting and groundbreaking as it could be.
