What was with those super high numbers back in 2005? More stations or sth? Mariah had a classic album that year.

I think that's just someone's personal fanlist. Like some of those signatures here with posters' top 5 singles.

It's going to be a long time before anybody even comes close to touching WBT's audience impressions. When you factor in the quality of the record, the massive comeback Mariah was having, and the fact that it appealed to at least six different radio formats, the odds of something like that happening again are slim, at least until radio is as universal again like it was from 2005-2007.

Those airplay stats numbers are from Mediabase, which had/have significantly higher numbers than BDS.
With the current radio trend, it's unlikely that we'll see another track top 200m in BDS numbers. As multi-format as Gotye's track is, it "only" has 138 million in BDS audience. Lack of urban play hinders its peak potential.

BTW, heard One Thing on radio today. Sounds like another hit for One Direction.

KATY PERRY - Wide Awake: 41.124 (+ 4.232) Could radio just give up on Katy and give her a rest... This is so sub-par song it almost ruins the whole era.

STIUTK's BDS audience from Top 40 radio (week ending 5/27) was 73.267m. It had a -71 in spins for that chart, so it may not gain much (if at all) for the new pop chart (period that ended yesterday).
