Its just part of MB's mysterious points system that you need the nuclear code to figure out.

On today's Mediabase chart BA has more spins and AI's than the song above it by Easton C. Why did BA not pass this song ? Any chart gurus able to explain this? Thanks in advance. Happens all the time on Mediabase. Which is one of the big reasons I find Mediabase to be inferior to Billboard. Of course, if Mediabase started ranking songs by audience like Billboard does, that would make their chart a lot better in my eyes. It makes sense to me, to have songs with more total listeners ahead of songs with fewer listeners, rather than basing your chart off a weird points system that no one fully understands (I don't even think the Mediabase people themselves understand it all). And then of course there's the history and prestige of the Billboard charts...I could go on and on but I'll stop there. I appreciate Mediabase for their daily updates, but I'll never understand how their chart works and I've accepted that. To my knowledge, the country format is the only one that has a points system...otherwise, MB uses spins to rank other genres. Not sure why country is so special that we get the mysterious "points" system.

#12 on Billboard this week. Will it crack the Top 10 by next week, or do you think it'll have to wait an extra week or two outside? (That question is directed towards any of you chart trackers that could provide an answer )

(That question is directed towards any of you chart trackers that could provide an answer ) Unless something really suprising happens, she'll move into the top 10 next week. The Band Perry will go recurrent and she'll jump over the Zac Brown Band. She even has a chance at #9, depending on how much AI Love And Theft lose. #10 is more likely, though.

I'm pretty confident she'll hit the top 10 a week from now. Love & Theft will probably get 1 more week on, but The Band Perry should leave and I think Carrie is first in line to take their spot. Well, technically, the ZBB is first in line, currently at #11...but "The Wind" has really stalled out and its lead was only about 160k on "Blown Away" on tonight's Billboard chart.
So I expect Carrie to jump ahead of them this week, and gain a spot from The Band Perry leaving. Right now, a 12-10 move certainly looks likely but we'll see what the week brings.

As of today it would appear Carrie would jump the ZBB and move into the top 10 next week but it would not surprise me to see her slow down and them pick up next week. It's just too hard to predict anymore and I notice the callout scores for BA are not much better than the ZBB's song. Not even sure that matters but I guess I'm expecting BA to slow up some based on GG's run when it reached the top 10.

I actually think the research looks pretty good on this one. On the Bullseye chart, she's a bit lower down but the "dislike" and "strongly dislike" numbers are very, very small and she has a rather high "total passion" number. Seems the only thing holding it back there, in terms of its overall rating, is just a high number of people rating their feelings of it as 'neutral'. This one should continue to grow on the more conservative listeners, just like "Good Girl" did. I don't envision this one slowing up like GG did, especially because this one is selling a lot more and seems to have a lot more hype, despite GG being the lead single. "Blown Away" has had a steady and solid run up the chart so far, while the ZBB has been moving slowly for weeks now. I really like both songs, but I think "The Wind" is gonna get "Blown Away" here! Sorry, couldn't resist

Sorry, couldn't resist I like both songs as well, and I hope you are correct, I don't really want to see BA start stalling like GG did once it hits the top 10. I was looking at one of those charts tonight and it looked as if BA was in the 30's at the end almost of one of those charts. Either Bullseye or radiofeedback.

^It is lower down on the Bullseye one (only at #32) but I think its huge sales success would counter some of that. And usually, songs lower down have higher dislike numbers, but BA really doesn't.
I don't even think the 2 callout charts that Billboard publishes are the best ones. Radio has plenty of other ways to gather research and they can break it down by demographic, survey type, M-scores, etc. I just don't really have the same feeling about BA as I did about GG (and that was that GG was just kinda struggling to 'get over the hump'. I feel like BA is gonna keep up its steady gains.)

I'll go with a 12-9 prediction. Jhomes hadn't yet seen the Tuesday numbers when she posted the above, but Love & Theft lost more than 200 spins overnight. I think even if they lose 1000 spins for the week, they'll probably go recurrent and if they lose 1200, they'll certainly go recurrent. Carrie herself should be the song whose spins total knocks L&T off the chart and secures the 12-9 move. Although if this moved 12-10 instead, that wouldn't represent any sort of problem -- this is moving like a future #1 despite the crowded chart full of radio superstars. She's on her way.

She'll be no worse than #10 at Mediabase come Sunday afternoon with three tunes (Gloriana/The Band Perry/Love & Theft) off to recurrentville, and if she passes the faltering tune by the ZBB, #9 is all hers.

When I first heard BA, my first impression was, great song but it might have trouble with country radio. Man, was I wrong. It'll join GG at the top in no time. That's 2 for 2 in the BA era so far. Jmo

I felt the same way, especially after what the astonishing tidibt I read on this board earlier this year regarding the chart peak of 'Independence Day' turned out to be.
I was so stunned that it incomprehensibly couldn't crack the top ten, let alone spend a month or more at #1.
I expect this to hit #1 sometime after Halloween.

I hear this on radio all the time now and I can't get enough of it. Definitely one of her strongest radio singles, especially given her most recent releases (I can't believe I still hear Undo It every now and then).

I think they realized that the album has a good shot at returning to the top 10. The predictions for the bottom half of the top 10 are close.

BA #1 on itunes all genre. To settle any potential confusion, BA = the album. BA, the single, is up to #13 on the all genre chart. Hopefully it can crack the Top 10 with this sale.

I want to be surprised by how well this song is selling on iTunes, but I just can't. It's such a great song that has everything aligning for it right now. This is probably my favorite Carrie single so far. Like indulge said above, I can't get enough of this song. Some criticize the Coldplay/U2 like "bigness" but I think it works well here. I would like to hear an acoustic version eventually though, but I am a sucker for acoustic music.

She does get her top 10 this week, moving 12-10*, but Easton Corbin passes her, which I definitely didn't see coming last week at this time. Chances are, she'll pass him back at some point, but I definitely didn't see his 29 week old single coming alive like this.

I heard it on the station for the first time yesterday here, I blasted it so loud! Its my favorite Carrie song, ever! I know the stations here have been playing for awhile, but i don't listen too often. I prefer my CDs of artists who they won't play anymore. Carrie is an exception tho.

Any predictions on where this will move after this week?
This song has stabilized just outside of the Top 10 of the all-genre iTunes chart, and BA (the album) looks to be heading for its seventh week at #1 on the Country Albums chart, seeing as it's been in the Top 5 of the iTunes all-genre album chart for a few days now (thanks to the $6.99 deal).

She's probably looking at another week at #10. But it doesn't matter. Her gains are great. It's just that, last week, you had a couple of artists dropping off the chart (TBP and L&T) and in weeks before we usually had 1 or 2 droppers, but this week, there just isn't anybody. Blake's falling fast, but he was 11 million ahead of Carrie yet. He may lose 7 million or so, but it'll take one more week yet before he drops off and Carrie gains that spot. The only artist within range is Easton Corbin, who actually passed Carrie on Billboard last week (he jumped 14-9, compared to BA's 12-10 jump), but he was only about 400k ahead and Carrie has outgained him by a bit on Mediabase so far this week.
So there's a chance she could re-pass Easton. Otherwise, she'll hold at #10. The following week, she'll pass Blake for sure, and soon after I think guys like Keith Urban and Josh Turner may be within range, as they'll be peaking soon. LBT has peaked and will start to come down in the coming days. Jason, Jana, and Hunter are all gonna peak ahead of Carrie though, so by the time she catches them, they'll be on their way down. And other than Easton, the only other guy in range might be Dustin Lynch, but he may also be able to stay ahead for a while, or even peak ahead, as he's really picking up steam. He was 4.5 million ahead on the 9/15 BB chart, so Carrie won't catch him any time soon, if at all.
I always say things in too many words. Carrie's in a good spot right now, and it'll basically be her and Easton moving up together. ZBB looks to be done, Tim isn't a threat at all with the way he's moving, and the next top 5-or-better candidates are gonna be Miranda Lambert, Lee Brice...and probably throw in Jake Owen and Luke Bryan, with the way Jake has picked up the pace lately, and Luke has just been red hot jumping 25-19 last week. I'd say all of them will be in the group that peaks just after Carrie does, though, and right now I see no reason to believe that Carrie won't hit #1. I think she'll probably need another 7-8 weeks before she hits #1, though.
