Fantastic for Frank Ocean, hopefully now labels will stop being afraid of putting money into out LGBT artists.
it remains to be seen if this album will have long term success of course it made big news and hence the first week sales. But in hiphop and rnb anytime someone has come out has led to a instant failure there is alot of stigma to this
Who has come out in that genre, as an example of someone failing after coming out?

I think it's also a case of talent. If you are a widely recognized and talented artist making mostly pop-flavoured music everyone can relate to (Nicki Minaj, Frank Ocean, Queen Latifah) it's not a big deal, because you have the following. Now, if someone random gangsta rapper opens up about his/her sexuality it's a different story.
And obviously it's easier for female rappers.
I'd say there's 30k extra in Frank's sales because of coming out as bisexual but the effects in big picture remains to be seen. Shouldn't hurt him, that's for sure.
I am talking about Tevin campbell and there r several other examples too
I had never heard of Tevin Campbell before. According to Wikipedia his last album was in 1999, he never had a top ten album, and his last top 40 album or single was in 1994 -- five years before he "came out" in 1999 by getting arrested for soliciting sex. Is your best example someone whose career was already languishing and who came out via an arrest 13 years ago?
I think the notion that coming out is a career killer has been based on fear and very little actual evidence.
I cannot think of any other 'out' examples so I'm not going to weigh in on that idea one way or the other here, but Tevin's Wiki page is weird to me b/c I could have sworn I recalled him coming out in 1996, which is when his popularity really dropped off. That said, I may be mixing up an official 'coming out' with an Anderson Cooper like 'out' (i.e. not keeping it secret anymore but also not rushing to shout it from every rooftop). It would likely be next to impossible to find any kind of article on it from that time, if he did in fact officially come out, partly because there was no buzz around him anymore and partly b/c I could easily see urban media choosing not to talk about it.
