TOP 50: NOVEMBER 18, 2012."This Kiss" moves up from #2 to #1, giving Carly her first #1 hit! "Call Me Maybe" and "Good Time" both came close, peaking at #3 and #2 and spending 37 and 18 weeks on the chart respectively. Right behind her this week is Ellie Goulding, debuting straight in at #2 with "Anything Could Happen". It's the highest debut since "Call My Name" entered at #1 in July, though "Skinny Love" and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" also debuted at #2 since then. It's also Ellie's second top ten hit, following "Lights" which actually made #8. Also scoring a new top ten hit this week is Delta with "Wish You Were Here" up to #6, her third top ten hit in my chart's history after "Sitting On Top Of The World" (#1 for 2 weeks) and that flop second single "Dancing With A Broken Heart" (#10). Several huge hits are lost this week. The five week #1 "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" falls off the chart from #40 after just 19 weeks on, but it's a very tough period for past hits at the moment, as evident with only one 20+ weeker on the chart at the moment (Delta's "Sitting" with 29 weeks), compared to 15 on the chart four months ago. TOP 50: DECEMBER 2, 2012.New #1 for a third week in a row, and this time it's a full-on #1 debut, from Of Monsters And Men with "Little Talks". It's the 65th #1 hit and 17th #1 debut, the last of those being Cheryl's "Call My Name" in July. It's also the first chart hit for Of Monsters And Men and the first #1 for a rock band (using that term loosely) since Foster The People with "Pumped Up Kicks" in August 2011. Additionally in alternative crossover territory, "Ho Hey" jumps seven to a new peak at #9, scoring the first top ten hit for The Lumineers, and Guy Sebastian's "Battle Scars" (not an alternative crossover, of course) also enters the top 10, becoming his first top ten hit too. Lower down the chart, the current Australia #1 "Thrift Shop" is up to #20. Surprisingly, that's only the third time in the last six months that the current #1 here has been in my top 20, the previous two occasions being with "Whistle" at #13 on 7/1, and "Gangnam Style" at #18 on 9/30. (Of course, many of these #1's went on to make the top 20 at later occasions.) "Tornado" from Little Big Town also cracks the top 20, following the lead of their #7 hit "Pontoon". This is it: #50 = 1 point #49 = 1 + 2 points #48 = 1 + 2 + 3 points #47 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 points etc. My formula is a variation of that, which I designed myself to better suit my chart. Firstly, I start from the fifteenth level. So; #50 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 points #49 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 + 16 points #48 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 + 16 + 17 points etc. And secondly, I subtract 120 points from all those totals. #50 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 - 120 = 15 points #49 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 + 16 - 120 = 31 points #48 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 + 16 + 17 - 120 = 48 points etc. And that is it. I've put together an Excel formula, which is Points = ((51-( [pos]-14))/2)*((51-( [pos]-14))+1)-105. And now, the certification tresholds. My original system was: 2,000 = Bronze 4,000 = Gold 8,000 = Platinum 16,000 = 2x Platinum etc. But now I've simplified that to: 10,000 = Platinum 20,000 = 2x Platinum 30,000 = 3x Platinum 40,000 = 4x Platinum etc. And that's it, really. Now, the numbers?
