Leaving its mark in the Hot AC top 10 :)
Anyway, I posted this theory I had in UMG but that was short lived, so I'll post it again. Let me know what you guys think.
I think "White Flag" should have been tied in with the summer biggest movie, "Pirates of the Caribbean." If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. The movie and the song came out around the same time. POTC lacks the teme song most summer blockbusters have. Dido's song really relates to the movie, both in the fact that the storyline of the song is parallel to the love storyling of the movie, where the new couple faces a lot of obstacles they have to get over to make it.. Then there's the whole "I won't go down with this ship" line that totally seems like it was specifically written for the movie. LOL... I'm serious though. I really think that if the two were tied in, "White Flag" would be a bigget hit.

That's like asking to become a novelty artist.

That's like asking to become a novelty artist. She already is one though. I think lyrically it fits perfectly with the movie, but I can't imagine the sound of that song alongside that movie.

One of my top 10 of 2003... I just want it to get more spins than "Thank You" this year!

My theory is that the song is rather dull and quite undeserving of its Hot AC airplay.
Thank You is still as refreshing as ever, however.

This song is as good as "Here with me", which I think it's her best song from her debut album (I didn't like "Thank you" so much).
But this song have wonderful lyrics... the best lyrics by Dido

One of my top 10 of 2003... I just want it to get more spins than "Thank You" this year! If you mean total radio spins, that will be impossible because Thankyou was a #1 on AC and Hot AC radio and also peaked at #3 on pop (yes, I know, shocking). I really doubt White Flag will ever be as big as Thankyou...

I meant I want it to get more spins on Hot AC this year than Thank You(which is currently #46 on the Mediabase Hot AC Top 50 of 2003 so far!) :o

I'm still trying to get into this, but it's not quite making a breakthrough with me.
"Here With Me" was her best song by far.

I didn't like this song much, but I don't think Dido is a novelty artist. She's had a couple of excellent hits: Here With Me and Thankyou (overplayed though it was). I really like her track Feels Like Fire, easily the best song on Santana's latest collection of (mostly) fluff.
FLF has a hint of irony to it, at least if you know the history of Dido's namesake.

That's like asking to become a novelty artist. Not really.... people ranging from Aerosmith to Alanis Morissette to Puff Daddy recorded hit songs for summer blockbuster movies. It didn't hurt any of them in the long run.

This song is starting to gain some steam again. No doubt because of the great performance of the album so far.
+209 at Hot AC +122 at AC +97 at Pop (which isn't that big but we thought it peaked over a month or two ago)
