How high does everyone think this one will do? I think it's more HOT AC-friendly than I was expecting.
My prediction: # 7

Absolutely.
Considering that "I'm Like A Bird" was very much CHR/Pop sounding and performed quite well on Hot AC, this should perform even better on Hot AC then its predecessor singles.
Nelly Furtado has had a moderately long break, yet she's been around, including having the #1 Latin duet with Juanes ("Fotographia") and I think she'll return fresh off this one with a Top 10 performance on CHR/Pop and most likely a peak between 5-10 on Hot AC.
My Prediction: #8
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I love this song, I think it will go to #6. It kind of sounds like "Send Me on My Way" by Rusted Root at points.

I don't like this song but it will no doubt be a big Hot AC hit. I'll go out on a limb and say #6.

Anyone see the really bad review in Billboard? They rarely trash songs, but they really dissed this one. In the end, they called it a "lemon of a song". I personally think it's not all that bad! The last song I remember Billboard really ripping on that became successful was "Get The Party Started" by Pink.

NELLY FURTADO Powerless Producer(s): Track & Field, Nelly Furtado Writer(s): N. Furtado, G. Eaton, B. West Publisher(s): various Genre: POP Label/Catalog Number: DreamWorks 14231 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: October 18, 2003
Nelly Furtado's breakthrough, "I'm Like a Bird," was an individual and striking song—so much so that the Canadian songstress came from behind to win a Grammy Award for the performance. The launch single from her follow-up album is again a standout—but for all the wrong reasons. Foremost, Furtado's vocal quality is cold, harsh and mighty whiney—just downright unpleasant. But the singer/songwriter is also challenging her pop culture allure with a song that sounds like it was produced for a country hoedown, complete with a misplaced plucky banjo mixed with drum loops and a meandering tempo that ends up nowhere. Low on hooks and lower on appeal, "Powerless (Say What You Want)" is a fruitless effort and a real lemon of a song.—CT

That review is way off.
ILAB = unpleasant and "mighty whiney"
Powerless = individual and striking song
Did they get the 2 songs mixed up?

I do agree that the vocals are better on this but I agree with all these points:

sounds like it was produced for a country hoedown That's the part I really disagree with. There's nothing Country sounding about the song. It's influences are world music, not country. And Nelly is big into her Portugeuse roots.... I give her mad props for trying to incorporate her heritage into a popular song, without being preachy about it and while letting it still sound like a Pop song.

My turn to disagree again. How come MB20 had a #1 song for 19 straight weeks with Unwell? That song had a Banjo in it. At the beginning and throughout the song.
I think music tends to bore me, if I always just hear the same old instruments. If bands would use other means of noise, it would be cool. Piano, Harmonica, Banjo, Bongos, Taborine, Moroca's, etc... just something besides the same old 4 instruments.

i think the song will do farely well because it is not like any thing else out right now. you have to admire nelly for that whether you like the song or not. i personally love it and think the review is way off. i predict a peak at #5

Well the bullet's not too large, but not too small either. I just saw it at #20. I think she can eventually peak at #7-#9 thereabouts.

Things are not looking good for my cousin!!! :(:(
Her bullet keeps getting smaller and smaller on Hot AC and on pop. I just heard the song yesterday on my pop station, and I think it is a song that needs to grow on me. I instantly liked "Turn Off The Light", but "Powerless" is going to have to grow on me.
