May 7, 2004Train recently went into a recording studio in Los Angeles with famed rock producer Don Gilmore to record a song for the upcoming Spiderman 2 movie to be released this July. The band will return to LA on May 10th to film a video, which will feature performance footage mixed with clips from the movie. Look for the movie, video and soundtrack CD along with television performances of the song , titled "Ordinary," to begin in July. [/i] There will be two singles released simultaneously from the soundtrack, the other by Dashboard Confessional. pulsemusic.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=alternative&action=display&thread=1083694976

From the "aptly titled songs" department... Ouch! I was waiting to hear the song and I had a feeling I'd say exactly that.

So I guess the originally intended single release of "My Private Nation" will be cancelled.
"My Private Nation" would have made a great third single from the album, but indeed this should get Train more mainstrea presence.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Wow! I LOVE this! This is probably my favorite Train single ever! They were formulaic for so long and they finally put out something that's a little different. I have a feeling this will be a much bigger hit than "Vindicated".

I think it's kind of funny, seeing Train is singing an "ordinary" song, but knowing in interviews and articles, how they think they're an "extraordinary" band.

Train is a great band, I hope to hear Ordinary soon. Vindicated is a disaster.

This song rocks more and doesn't fit Adult Contemporary, which won't have a problem continuing to play their older songs.

This song is really good, but am I the only one who thinks the chorus always sounds like it is cutoff, it seems like he should hold out the note longer, I guess I'm used to that in several other songs. Predictions - Hot AC: #2 Pop: #15

This song is so good! I was expecting another formulaic generic song but they really surprised me! This song reminds me why they were good to begin with

Wow! Talk about the irony here!
This is far from ordinary! This is the most original Train single yet! I love it!
When I first listened and heard the beginning I figured it'd be another piano ballad, then the hard rock metronome comes in!
Actually, I have to say this may be perhaps too unordinary! It took me a few listens to figure out where the hook was, and still it isn't exactly a standout hook!
So I have to say this probably won't be a big hit! I actually feel perhaps Train released this just so they can be redeemed. So many original fans were turned off by their latest album and said they didn't like the direction they were taking, and now so many love this song.
So I'd say it was particularly a wise move to release this, but don't expect anything big from this!
Hot AC: #11 Triple A: #16 (This doesn't exactly sound fit for the format. I think it'll run like the last two Barenaked Ladies singles have there)
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I'm not really a fan of this. I'll gladly take it over Calling All Angels/When I Look to the Sky. It's different, but that alone doesn't make it good. However, it's a step in the right direction. If they keep on going this way then they might have credibility again.

These guys came to my college either at the end of March or start of April and I was suprised at the music that they played. Despite the crappyness of the majority of their third album, I really felt like these guys were good rockers after seeing them live. Their selection of covers and older material was very good and rocked kind of like this track. They did "Hard To Handle," "Raspberry Beret," as well as Van Halen & Led Zep songs. Plus they played some of their pre-major label songs that were more rock than what they are known for.
I would argue that this song is more along the lines of what the band as a whole is about than "Calling All Angels."

this is different, and once july rolls around with the movie coming out, this could see its way to becoming a popular summer hit.

This is the fourth greatest gainer at Hot AC but it's not exactly exploding. Maybe it's a little hard for Hot AC? I doubt it. I'm a little confused though. Maybe it's too hard for what they expect from Train.

i agree, i was expecting this to follow the same pattern as the Counting Crows, just exploding all over the stale Hot AC Format.

This is better than "Calling All Angels" and "When I Look to the Sky" but still nothing too great. Maybe it will have to grow on me.

However, I'll be surprised if its not a big hit on AAA/Hot AC. I don't think it will do well on pop. The song is definitely better than their past several singles, though.

I hate this song so much. It just doesn't sound like the typical Train song to me.
