Already top 50 59 48 GWEN STEFANI 4 In The Morning 146 88 58 0.476 I think this will be another top 10 on this format for Gwen, it is very Hot Ac friendly.

If this goes top 5, I think she's a core artist on this format for SURE.

This debuts on Billboard's Hot Ac hitpredictor with a 73.80. Thats huge, anything over 65 is considered to show "hit potential".

The bad thing is Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" made the top 40 before this and has a bigger bullet.

^Yea, but that is because Big Girls Don't Cry is BLOWING UP on pop, so its getting crossover support on Hot AC. 4 In The Morning is slowly rising on pop, so for right now, its Hot Ac play is based completely off its own Hot Ac merits.

I LOVE this song now that it's grown on me. I think it deserves to make it to #1 here.
Anyone else thinks this sounds like those female ballads from the late 90s?

I so agree, it almost sounds like it could be a Paula Abdul or TLC ballad. It sounds like the big pop ballad on a 90's big r and b/dance album.

Don't think this song will go Top 10 - on Hot AC or CHR/Pop - but it could hang around for a long time b/c it's pretty low key (as long as stations don't overplay it)

Sorry - thought of something else - the concept of this song has really already been used TWICE - by Matchbox 20 and Anna Nalick - except she's staying up till 4 a. m. instead of 3 a. m.

I'm predicting a slow climb and a peak in the Top 20 on Hot AC, but also with a slow decline, and some action on the recurrent chart

Gwen Stefani is the Madonna of the 2000s IMO.
Don't believe me? Give "4 in the Morning" another listen, and hear how much it sounds like one of Madonna's ballads. "Rich Girl" was almost a cover of "Material Girl", and "Cool" sounded nearly identical to Madonna's 1980s pop hits.

Sorry to disagree man - can't see any Gwen songs that sound like any of Madonna's songs except maybe for "Cool" - Gwen LOOKS like Madonna, and is cranking out hits just like she did in the 80s - I'm sure Madonna is one of her idols "Rich Girl" and "Material Girl" ??? Can't think of any Gwen songs that sound like "Crazy For You" or "Live To Tell" - did Madonna have any other big ballads in the 80s?

I see the correlation you are making.

28 27 GWEN STEFANI 4 In The Morning 717 678 39 2.831
This looks like this might be hitting a bit of a wall. With a couple of songs dropping to recurrent status within the next week or two, this should hit the top 25. But after that it's going to need help. Hopefully this regains momentum soon. This is too good of a song to bomb out like this!

Stefani has become an established solo singer at both pop and Hot AC, so I really can't understand why this song isn't performing as well as it should.

Can't think of any Gwen songs that sound like "Crazy For You" or "Live To Tell" - did Madonna have any other big ballads in the 80s? That's partly what I meant - Gwen has Madonna's look and near-mass appeal that Madonna had 2 decades ago. Think about it - Madonna appealed to younger girls, but her music was mature enough for many adults to like as well. Gwen pretty much has the same audience(s). I think Madonna was a little sluttier in her time, though. Singing voices are different, but the type of songs are much the same. Also, you asked about Madonna's other ballads. Ironically, Madonna's biggest hit came in the '90s with a ballad - "Take a Bow". It was #1 for 7 weeks.

Ironically, Madonna's biggest hit came in the '90s with a ballad - "Take a Bow". It was #1 for 7 weeks. Unfortunately, it's really hard to compare hits from after mediabase was used vs. when R&R used station playlists (R&R switched over about '94, Billboard about '91 I think) - Anyway, I'm sure "Crazy For You" was bigger than "Take A Bow" (judging from the number of plays it still gets on AC and even Hot AC) - it's just that in the 80s R&R relied on station playlists, which dropped their songs off their playlists weeks or even months before they actually stopped playing them BTW, I'm pretty sure "I'll Remember" was bigger than "Take A Bow" also if you use reverse point system, b/c it spent so long in the Top 40

This is back to +83 so i dunno, i don't think its done on this format...and Gwen's next single is not very Hot Ac friendly, so this might have a pretty long run.

Well, with this being the last Hot AC song for awhile, this may do well yet. With several songs expected to be moved to recurrent status the next few weeks, this song should have a chance for the top 20 and beyond.

IMO this song will be around for a LONG TIME!!! (it's one of those subtle hits IMO that needs to creep up the chart until it hits the Top 10, and I think a lot of stations will have this in recurrent)

It's top 20! :)
26 20 GWEN STEFANI 4 In The Morning 2006 Interscope 877 795 82 3.671
My guess is that is could be #19 by this Sunday, so it would debut at #19 on the corresponding American Top 20 show.

That's great news! Let's hope this continues the momentum into the top 10. This song is reminiscent of "All Good Things (Come To An End)" by Nelly Furtado, which of course turned out to be a big time bust. But at least Gwen can make up for that tremendous blunder that the radio industry made by not playing Nelly! Not that there isn't some good music out at the current time, but at least it's nice to see a quality song like "4 In The Morning" make a run up the chart for a change.
