Didn't see a thread for this song, which is amazing considering that this is a top 15 hit, and has the potential to go top 10 at Hot AC.
Gavin is yet another lead singer of a band (Bush) who is trying a solo effort. This 1st single is excellent - very melodic with an emotional feel. For some reason this puts me in mind of Mat Kearney's "Nothing Left to Lose". Going even further back, there is a similarity in the melody to "Sentimental Lady" - a big hit ballad in the 1970s by Bob Welch.
Anyway, a great tune; and a change from the grungy '90s sound of Bush.

I think you might like what you hear.

Sorry to point this out, but you can completely sing the chorus of Chris Brown's "With You" along with the chorus of this song...

I tried, and I can't get the connection between Gavin's song and Chris Brown's. The melodies are different. It really has more in common with "Nothing Left to Lose". Also, what you can do is go to a site like YouTube and listed to "Love Remains the Same", and then just for the hell of it, listen to the classic ballad "Sentimental Lady" by Bob Welch. There are definitely some similarities in the arrangement.

Yeah when Gavin sings "I...never thought that I..." etc. at the beginnin of his chorus it reminds me of Chris Brown singin "Oh...I'm into you and oh..." etc. at the beginning of his chorus Haven't heard that other song ur talkin about by Bob Welch but have to check it out...

I can also see the similarities in it melodically with "With You" though... To me, this sounds like something that could work at CHR/Pop with some decent promotion.

About to go top 10 without hitting the pop chart at all. Interesting.

About to go top 10 without hitting the pop chart at all. Interesting. Yeah I think the last songs to do that were Before It's Too Late by the Goo Goo Dolls and Dreaming With A Broken Heart by John Mayer...before that maybe The Riddle by Five For Fighting...(just guessin...)

I can see the Goo Goo Dolls song not making it there, but "The Riddle" was a danged good song... definitely deserved some top 40 love!

Yeah I def. think Five For Fighting got "shafted" by CHR (100 Years and The Riddle) cause they both came out durin that Eminem-Nelly-50 Cent period when there was a huge split between Hot AC and CHR ...And I guess in '04 (or so) playin Lose Yourself followed by 100 Years just didn't "sound right"...although today, many CHRs play Lollipop followed by Say by John Mayer...maybe they were just afraid to do it back then...

Heard this and I hate to say that I'm underwhelmed. :( #8 on the R&R chart with +230 in spins. Not bad for such an "underwhelming" song. I think it's 1 of the best ballads to hit the Hot AC chart recently. Can't understand why it's not impacting regular AC by now. I suppose it's because the slow and ultra-conservative AC stations are reluctant to add something by a former lead-singer of a grunge-rock band. >:(

R&R reports this as #2 on Hot AC, and finally a top 30 hit at regular AC .
Should end up being a high-ranking hit on the end-of-the-year chart.

This is a big hit, but I have to admit it's starting to wear on me now, probably because TV is using it so much, it's always played on VH1 which I "listen" to when I work in the mornings from home, and radio is all over this. Thus, I am getting tired of it.
