Hey just noticed there was no thread for this yet...
IMO it's gonna be another case of odd timing, cause Won't Go Home Without You is still Top 5 HAC so most stations are gonna wait a while before adding this new one...meanwhile it's gettin a pretty nice initial boost at CHR, where WGHWY is long-gone
First time I listened to the new version I thought it was kinda unique to have Rihanna added to the track, but after a couple listens IMO it starts to sound just like the original, which is alright but not sure it's gonna be a major hit...
As of now, it's +78 to 124 plays on HAC

^I think the release was more aimed at pop radio, which is now "Maroon 5-free" in terms of a new single. Nevertheless, I could see this being a decent HAC hit as well, if not only for the fact that it is Maroon 5.

I think that was the intention of having Rihanna added to the track - to get more appeal at CHR because Maroon5 has pretty much stalled out at that format. "Won't Go Home" was a huge disappointment at CHR despite the fact that it sounded so close to "She Will Be Loved". Did rather well at Hot AC, which was no surprise - but I really expected it to be a huge #1 smash.
Back to "If I Never See Your Face" - it's not uncommon for "featuring" artists to be added to new releases from CDs that reached their sales peak (or maximum hype) months ago. Maroon5 did very well on their own over a year ago when "Makes Me Wonder" was the 1st single from It Won't Be Soon Before Long. But now that the 4th single from that CD has been released, the hype is gone, so they could use a little "outside help", if you will.

I see this as the reverse of trying to get Maroon 5 more airplay on CHR. I see this pairing as trying to attract more Hot AC stations to Rihanna. Many have avoided her like the plague as she only has had one top 20 hit here. But this one will be her second as of this Sunday, and hopefully others will eventually follow. All I can say is that whomever had the idea to pair these two acts up is a genius!

Well, it looks like this song is back on track for a long run. After the 4th of July weekend stalled it's momentum a bit, IINSYFA looks like this is poised for a nice jump within the next couple of weeks. There's got to be a few old songs that are ready to leave the chart!

Rihanna was a good add to the track, she really has blossomed as a performer, judging by the video. Still, Adam (is that his name?) always look bored and like he doesn't want to be there. It's rather annoying actually and makes me not want to see it again.

This should've been a hit. Seriously.

^Still has a +156 bullet (on BDS) at #18...so IMO still could be a HAC hit (maybe) - kinda think it's gonna burn out pretty quickly though

^Still has a +156 bullet (on BDS) at #18...so IMO still could be a HAC hit (maybe) - kinda think it's gonna burn out pretty quickly though I think it will still make it into the low teens, or just outside the top ten at the worst. And I think it will stick around awhile as only new Daughtry and Katy Perry are serious top ten threats at the moment. I still think this may be the reluctance of some Hot AC stations to play anything involving Rihanna, though some have stated that Maroon 5 burnout may have something to do with their tepid showing so far. But look how long Sara Bareilles took just to make it into the top ten with "Love Song". I still think this song is gaining momentum and just may be a big hit yet.
