It's looking to be the 2nd single off of Exile On Mainstream. This is one of my favorites from them, it reminds me of my favorite song, which is "Ever the Same" by Rob Thomas. I think this has a shot at #1, but I think "Won't Go Home Without You" will have a long reign at the top, blocking this. I used to think "Broken" would sit at #2, but now I guess I think that this will. But enough of my long-term predictions! What do you guys think about this song?

I've heard it once and thought it was my favorite song off of their new album (even though I don't really like their new stuff).

Yeah, I heard this on C100's battle where it won Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, I think, but lost to some guy. Blake Lewis or something?

Is this getting any radio play yet? I vaguely remember reading somewhere that this was already on some chart (like in the 100's) and I couldn't believe it. It will be a huge hit for them. It does remind me of Ever the Same cuz it sounds like Rob singing about his wife's illness again. But some peeps on Rob's board think it could be about his mother's death this past year. And most peeps are in agreement that this definitely sounds like a Rob Thomas song. Where as some of the other new stuff may have been influenced more by some other band member. I seem to like their rock stuff more than their ballads recently, but I do enjoy this now after multiple listens. And I have to say I just LOVE the new songs (but still hate the background vocals). I just can't get the CD out of my car CD player. I'm so glad I love it cuz it would be a bummer to hate the direction the band is going in.

I hope this is the next single. For me, this song and HFWC are the clear standouts on the album.

I actually love their new material more than I expected. ANY of their songs would be fine, but I actually like their more upbeat sounding songs better than this. This has hit potential, but I think it's too much of the similar sound from their previous material.

Is there an adds date yet? Or any other mention? I don't get why this is "looking" to be the next single.

I think this is looking to be the next single because the guys have said it was the next single. Good choice, too. Definitely sounds like more of a well-rounded song from the pen of Rob Thomas compared to some of the others.

This may sound crazy coming from a Matchbox Twenty/Rob Thomas fan, but I find the newer songs refreshing because they aren't necessarily well-rounded songs. I kind of get sick of the deep thoughtful, nearly depressing lyrics sometimes, and it's good to know and see that Matchbox Twenty is capable of rocking it out and having fun sometimes.
Having said that their first single is actually pretty deep, but I'm not sure it was intentional.

"These Hard Times" is better-sounding, and I think better-written than "How Far". This should have been their 1st release from their new CD.
I haven't seen this song added yet or given any significant spins on any Hot AC outlets so far. Are you sure this will be the 2nd single? ???

I don't know of anything definitive saying this will be the 2nd single, but downloads have been heavy for it, so it is the logical choice.

This has been getting regular play on C100. If it's not getting any significant airplay on US Hot AC, I should move this to the Canadian forum. lol

Well, Star 94.1 in San Diego just played it. I heard it before and liked it...but hearing it on the radio makes me like it even more for some reason.

This was played on my station today. It sounded good. I'll give it a top 10 peak on HotAC and Top 5 on AC. SS after 13 weeks...507,191. Not too bad at all considering it only debuted around 131,000. Pictures from the video shoot for THT look good.

This is very similar to "Ever The Same", and it's very good. I hope this is another hit for them.

Is there an official adds date yet for this? Also, anyone have the latest album sales number for Exile on Mainstream? Every place I shopped over Christmas seemed to be sold out so I was wondering if it sold well or was just understocked.

WK#13 - #59...25,809...507,191 This week it's at #71. My guess it sold around 12,000. I was at Walmart tonight and they were playing the video for HFWC. That was a nice treat!

WTMX Chicago just started playing this. And I agree, when I first heard this when the album leaked , it reminded me of Ever The Same.

For some reason the beginning reminds me of Fleetwood Mac. I think it's the guitars.

Does anyone know if this has officially gone for adds on Hot AC or CHR? I can't find any evidence that it has. It's at #61 on the rolling CHR/Pop chart.

^Just looked at the CHR chart though and this is doin nothin (except for Q100/ATL and KRBE/Houston I guess)...if it has gone for CHR adds, it's prob. not gonna break Top 40 there, and it'll be a HAC-only hit I guess
