Hey sorry if there's already a thread for this but can't find it anywhere...
Thinkin this is gonna become another Triple A staple (just like Soul Meets Body...not as exiciting I guess, but still pretty clever IMO)...but I guess they're just too "out there" for most Hot AC stations
A whole bunch of Alternative's are pickin this up too...

5/19 HOT AC Death Cab For Cutie "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" (Atlantic) Um....what? Yeah if Soul Meets Body wasn't "pop" enough for Hot AC, not sure how this song could even cut it out of the 30s (unless it's a Sarah McLachlan/Barenaked Ladies late 90s-type situation and HACs go back and play Soul Meets Body just like they did Possession and The Old Apartment) Triple A...different story though IMO - also surprised it's doin so well on Alternative - didn't think Soul Meets Body got that high on Alt., but wasn't followin the chart that closely then...

This CD debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200!! Had no clue they had that large a following...Death Cab For Cutie might turn out to be like the Grateful Dead of the 2000s (huge fan base, with tons of popular songs that just aren't geared for mainstream radio) - yeah that's a def. exaggeration though

I actually think that this song is perfect for Hot AC. It's mellow, but it's got a nice driving beat and bassline to it. It's just not very hooky.

^Yeah I think the prob. with Death Cab For Cutie on Hot AC is that their songs don't follow the typical pop song format, and stations don't wanna risk havin their listeners change the station when they hear a sound which is so unfamiliar to them...just guessin though

5/19 HOT AC Death Cab For Cutie "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" (Atlantic) Um....what? Well, FMQB has since fixed it: I agree with this not being very conventional, but it's one of those songs that's always ringing in your head. It could do decently if it's given half a chance.
