Yeah, well, supposedly this is a collaborative writing effort, so not sure how much of each band member is actually "in" the song. That said, read the Rolling Stone interview from a few years ago. Thomas has good reason to be ambivalent about some women.

Does anyone have a link for the HotAC mediabase chart? My link is taking me to the Pop chart. It's the same link on here for HotAC. That's also pulling up the Pop chart.

Paul had a Q & A on twitter last night. This song was a collaboration. It was one of the songs that Paul, Kyle, and Rob wrote. We could guess that per the first webisode as they are shown writing together.
Addtional songs on the album - 6 by Rob alone, a few (guessing 2)collaborations by all three, 1 by Kyle, 1 by Paul, 1 by Rob and Paul, and 1 by Paul & Kyle. Kyle will sing lead on a song called The Way. I'm going to guess that will be the one that he wrote. It seems that there's going to be a lot on this album that Rob just wasn't a part of. I hope the album sounds cohesive. There's a lot of cooks in the kitchen.
Still loving She's So Mean. Great bouncy first single to get them back out there again. Rob's vocals and the drumming are the highligts on this song to me...and the chorus - I love this chorus - straight out of the 80s.

It's at +207 today on 54 stations, I would not be surprised at all to see this debut in the Top 40 tomorrow with a bullet near 400. I'm going to go out on a limb and say this debuts at #20 with a bullet at near 1000 next week.

At +448 on spincrease... #37 on chart. Gained 150 some spins in one day, this could very well be at #30 tomorrow, for Monday's update there's no telling, but somewhere in the upper 20's as a debut sounds reasonable, pretty good.
Oh and I noticed its at like +230 on 30 stations on POP, now it will take the whole other half of cumulus stations to jump on board in a few months, but that's an excellent showing for them at that chart. This looks like it could be huge.

I'm digging this. It's a nice update of their sound, and doesn't sound TOO much like something that might've appeared on Rob's solo albums.

I think this is a better comeback song than "How Far We've Come" was by far.

Highest mover on Hot AC and not even a week in. This is going to be huge, would be really surprised if it didn't get #1 by August and stay there as album comes out.

I think this is a better comeback song than "How Far We've Come" was by far. I agree and I did really like HFWC. I will say that the new single isn't doing that great on itunes but I really don't know how that may show up there when you get the single instantly when you pre-order the album. Still hoping for really good things for this song this summer. I heard today that Pink will have a new song next month so we have new music from MB20, Pink, No Doubt, Green Day, One Republic, Mumford & Sons. Turning out to be a crowded HotAC field during the next few months along with good singles from John Mayer and Kelly Clarkson.

From Billboard's Chartbeat:
Greatest Gainer No. 27 "She's So Mean" matchbox twenty
matchbox twenty logs its first debut on Adult Pop Songs in more than four years, as "She's So Mean" blasts in at No. 27. That's the group's best bow since "Disease" started at No. 25 the week of Oct. 12, 2002. The new single introduces "North," matchbox twenty's first album of all-new material in 10 years, due Sept. 4.

Up to #24, Top 20 Audience, all in one week, +865. I haven't see anything come out the gate like that in a while.
Debuts on CHR Top 40 today too, +649

This is the kind of song the phrase "with a bullet" was invented for.

Will this song going top 10 tie/beat Goo Goo Dolls Hot AC record? Or is that record already broke? I just remember a year or so ago GGD had the most Top 10s on Hot ac.

MB20 are currently tied with GGD for the most top 10s on HAC with 12 (not counting their current hit). However, if you combine Rob Thomas' hits with MB20 and away from the group, he has 21.

Hit the Top 20 with 1450 spins and moving plus highest spin increases. It will be interesting to see what the next week brings.

Based on staying in the +500-+700 range (which I expect, it has to slow down a bit being only two weeks away, no promotion in USA, and album not out until September) it will be #15 almost without question in a weeks time, then #11. It will crack Top 10 once all of the July 4th mess is sorted out a few weeks into July. It should definitely be on track to take #1 in late August, in time for album release. Watching it on the pop chart is going to be real interesting. It's going to take three or four weeks to get out of the 30's, once it does, I expect it to move up rapidly, hell it's only on 20% of the format over there.

I've heard this now on two different HotAC stations in two different markets. I am still very confident this will be a big HotAC hit but I have to say that hearing it on the radio doesn't have the punch that listening to the song on youtube does (I still need to download it ). Anyway, the radio compression or something takes something out of the punch of the drums which I think is one of the best aspects of the song (and I listen to the radio in the car with a Bose system). The song has stabilized on itunes around 160-165. I'm not saying that's wonderful but outside radio there has been zero promo on TV. Promo has been all internet based. The band also doesn't plan on any live performances until Sept 3, The Today Show. So my thinking is that they want this to be a slow and steady ascent up the charts during July and August. They will have competition from new Pink, new The Script, new Green Day, new No Doubt, etc., etc. I hope the video is terrific. New single maybe in October-November. I guess that will depend on if this single is selling the album or not.

Pretty sure they are doing promo in Australia and Canada this month, in the US, there is zero. I don't think Pink, Script, Green Day, or No Doubt will cause any issues, it's just new music for an overhaul of a lot of old stuff that still remains on the charts.
Should move to #15 tomorrow.
Heard on the radio, sounded just fine.

Per Rob on twitter, they will shoot the video next week. Hopefully, it'll be out by the first week in August.

It's doing well considering the long haul to the CD release, but where the hell is Atlantic in promoting this single?

I've yet to hear it on the radio. Don't know what format it's playing on here in Cleveland. I've tried several stations but nothing yet. I like the song a lot.
