NOTES: - This week's Station of the Week: Hits 100 (a station in Aruba)
- Since red is taken for the week's Biggest Mover, I can't co-opt it for Simply Red at #1.
- From the "Ain't it Funny" files: Casey's story of George Michael having something of an "ugly duckling" look when it came to his trying to appeal to...women.
- Come to think of it - it seems like we've heard at least a variation of this story on another show.
- Both Casey and Larry Morgan have Top 3 countdowns in this one - Casey counts down the Top 3 tallest mountains for "Mountains", and Larry Morgan counts down the Top 3 highest-grossing films of 1986 for "Take My Breath Away" (whose movie is, unsurprisingly, #1).
- #1 on the Country chart: "Hearts Aren't Made to Break" by Lee Greenwood
- #1 on the Dance chart: "Sledgehammer"
- #1 on the Album chart: Control by Janet Jackson
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Who's Johnny"

"Into The Groove" did hit the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay chart and on Rick Dees' Weekly Top 40 (using Radio & Records), "Into The Groove" was in the last of its' two weeks at its' peak position of #6. - You couldn't have asked for better timing on the Lionel Richie story, where he was in the countdown as a producer, as a member of a group, and half of a duo (really a duet); it was told right in between the latter two songs being back to back.
- A few songs sounded kind of "off"..."Lady (You Bring Me Up)" sounded like it had a different re-mastering, "(There's) No Gettin' Over Me" had its sax sound barely audible in the background, and "Queen of Hearts" sounded like it was playing at a slower speed.
- This may be the one and only time we'll get such an occurrence, but with The Supremes as the third Archive this week, we've had nods to both versions of "You Keep Me Hangin' On" as #1 hits this year; Kim Wilde's remake, of course, was #1 just seven weeks ago back on 6-6-87.
- Incidentally, it's almost fitting that that happens the same week we get a Question Letter asking about records that hit the Top 40 twice as the same recording.
- No spoiler for the new #1 song this week, even for as big a de-throning as this one; Casey simply says "the two biggest hits in America coming right up!"
- But, with Casey's pronouncement of "there's a tear in Bette Davis' Eyes this week", "Who's Crying Now" makes an eerie instance of foreshadowing as that last extra.
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Double Dutch Bus"
- #1 on the Country chart: "Feels So Right"
- #1 on the Album chart: Long Distance Voyager by The Moody Blues
