Out of curiosity, have any affiliates confirmed whether or not they'll air the '80s Newcomers Special (which is really difficult here given that Premiere had to schedule two regular '80s countdowns)?

When I heard 9/13/80 last year, Premiere played the original 1970 version of "Lola"... the charted song was a LIVE version from their album "One For The Road," recorded at Providence, Rhode Island... it's not like Arista/Sony isn't making the latter available, is it?
EDIT: From another poster, I learned that (A) the played song was (again) the original, and (B) the observations of him and others are that Premiere can't or won't seriously search for the legitimate versions... this is something they've apparently endemically done with newly-charting versions of songs most of which are from live albums (tho I noticed that they did manage to find live remakes of (ISTR) Carole King and Joni Mitchell tunes...)

I just noticed in this post above that one of the opt-extras was credited to Johnny Cash. If you go back and note the title, you'd possibly remember the song as being by Johnny Nash, which the actual program played. dL

I just noticed in this post above that one of the opt-extras was credited to Johnny Cash. If you go back and note the title, you'd possibly remember the song as being by Johnny Nash, which the actual program played. dL Thanks for catching that. It's been corrected (after all, I might need that as a repost if Premiere ever airs that show again). Which brings me to next weekend. There are two '80s shows but just one '70s show this time which means once again my weekend preview will be a two-parter. As always, the '70s start first. "AT40: The '70s" this week presents 9/24/1977 which aired back in 2009 and in 2014. Here is an altered repost from 2014: Four songs debuted this week: "Help Is On It's Way" - Little River Band (#37) "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" - Crystal Gayle (#38) "She Did It" - Eric Carmen (#39) "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" - Alan Parsons Project (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Easy" - The Commodores (#17) "Just A Song Before I Go" - Crosby, Stills & Nash (#22) "Barracuda" - Heart (#25) "Hard Rock Cafe" - Carole King (#30) Biggest Mover: "You Light Up My Life" - Debby Boone (#35 to #21) Biggest Dropper: "Star Wars (Main Title)" - London Symphony Orchestra (#10 to #36) Original extras: "The Rubberband Man" - The Spinners "Love Will Keep Us Together" - Captain & Tennille "Play That Funky Music" - Wild Cherry "Play That Funky Music" stays in the show while "The Rubberband Man" and "Love Will Keep Us Together" will be optional extras. Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "The Rubberband Man" - The Spinners Hour #2: "Love Will Keep Us Together" - Captain & Tennille Hour #3: "Southern Nights" - Glen Campbell (NR) "Southern Nights" replaces "Baby What A Big Surprise" which was the Hour #3 op extra the last two times it aired in memory of Glen Campbell, who died a few weeks ago. The '80s preview is coming soon.
