The "B" show for this week is from 2/1/1986 which aired back in 2014. Here was my repost from back then: Three songs debuted this week: "These Dreams" - Heart (#37) "Russians" - Sting (#38) "Day By Day" - The Hooters (#39) Three songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Separate Lives" - Phil Collins & Marilyn Martin (#28) "Sex As A Weapon" - Pat Benatar (#33) "Broken Wings" - Mr. Mister (#36) Biggest Mover (tie): "Kyrie" - Mr. Mister (#21 to #13) "Living In America" - James Brown (#23 to #15) Biggest Dropper: "Tonight She Comes" - The Cars (#15 to #29) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Break My Stride" - Matthew Wilder "Missing You" - John Waite Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "The Super Bowl Shuffle" - Chicago Bears Shufflin' Crew (#56) Hour #2: "This Could Be The Night" - Loverboy (#48) Hour #3: "What You Need" - INXS (#60) Hour #4: "R.O.C.K. Here are this weekend's scheduled shows. "AT40: The '70s" this week presents 2/11/1978 which aired in 2008. Five songs debuted this week: "Night Fever" - The Bee Gees (#32) "Wonderful World" - Art Garfunkel, James Taylor & Paul Simon (#33) "Our Love" - Natalie Cole (#38) "Jack And Jill" - Raydio (#39) "Galaxy" - War (#40) Five songs fell off this week: "Slip Slidin' Away" - Paul Simon (#15) "Come Sail Away" - Styx (#18) "Here You Come Again" - Dolly Parton (#25) "You Light Up My Life" - Debby Boone (#32) "Easy To Love" - Leo Sayer (#36) Biggest Mover: "Lay Down Sally" - Eric Clapton (#28 to #18) Biggest Dropper: "Turn To Stone" - Electric Light Orchestra (#13 to #23) Original extras: "This Masquerade" - George Benson This song will be played as one of the optional extras. Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Sharing The Night Together" - Dr. Hook (NR) Hour #2: "If I Can't Have You" - Yvonne Elliman (#65) Hour #3: "This Masquerade" - George Benson (original AT40 extra) Of note: We saw the '80s pay tribute to Ray Sawyer last week so this week it's the '70s turn. "AT40: The '80s" this week presents 2/9/1985 which aired back in 2011. Here is an edited repost: Four songs debuted this week: "Keepin' The Faith" - Billy Joel (#37) "Ooh Ooh Song" - Pat Benatar (#38) "I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips" - Eric Carmen (#39) "High On You" - Survivor (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Born In The U.S.A." - Bruce Springsteen (#27) "Wild Boys" - Duran Duran (#29) "We Belong" - Pat Benatar (#31) "Do What You Do" - Jermaine Jackson (#32) Biggest Mover: "Too Late For Goodbyes" - Julian Lennon (#37 to #26) Biggest Dropper: "Jamie" - Ray Parker Jr. (#16 to #31) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Those Were The Days" - Mary Hopkin "The One That You Love" - Air Supply Premiere optional extras: "Material Girl" - Madonna (#43; highest debut) "Save A Prayer" - Duran Duran (#42) "Somebody" - Bryan Adams (#47) "Obsession" - Animotion (#67) It's worth mentioning "Just Another Night" replaces "Obsession" from the 2011 airing (Is it just me or does Premiere always seem to try to fix something that was never broken in the extras department?)

This President's Day weekend, there are TWO '70s shows and TWO '80s shows and that means I have to work on another two-part post. We'll start with the '70s shows first. The "A" show this week is from 2/17/1979 which aired back in 2014. Here is my repost from back then: Five songs debuted this week: "Sultans Of Swing" - Dire Straits (#33) "Stormy" - Santana (#36) "Song On The Radio" - Al Stewart (#38) "Forever In Blue Jeans" - Neil Diamond (#39) "You Make Me Feel Mighty Real" - Sylvester (#40) Five songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Don't Hold Back" - Chanson (#21) "Home And Dry" - Gerry Rafferty (#28) "Hold The Line" - Toto (#34) "Ooh Baby Baby" - Linda Ronstadt (#35) "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" - Barbra Streisand & Neil Diamond (#36) Biggest Mover: "Tragedy" - The Bee Gees (#29 to #19) Biggest Dropper: "New York Groove" - Ace Frehley (#13 to #35) Original extras: "Love Child" - Diana Ross & The Supremes "Got To Be There" - Michael Jackson "One Man Woman, One Woman Man" - Paul Anka with Odia Coates "Devil Woman" - Cliff Richard Long Distance Dedications: "California Nights" - Lesley Gore "Someday We'll Be Together" - Diana Ross & The Supremes Archive extras "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)" - The Looking Glass "Black & White" - Three Dog Night "Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me" - Mac Davis "Black & White" will be played as an optional extra this week. The other two Archive songs remain. Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "Superman" - John Williams (#100) Hour #2: "Black & White" - Three Dog Night (original AT40 Archive) Hour #3: "Heart Of Glass" - Blondie (#84; debuted) Hour #4: "Big Shot" - Billy Joel (#58) The "B" show this week is from 2/26/1972 which aired back in 2013. Here is an edited repost. Five songs debuted this week: "Jungle Fever" - The Chakachas (#35) "Softly Whispering I Love You" - The English Congregation (#37) "Mother And Child Reunion" - Paul Simon (#38) "Ring The Living Bell" - Melanie (#39) "You Want It You Got It" - The Detroit Emeralds (#40) Five songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)" - The New Seekers (#31) "Sugar Daddy" - The Jackson Five (#32) "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)" - The Hillside Singers (#36) "Together Let's Five Love" - The 5th Dimension (#37) "Levon" - Elton John (#38) Biggest Mover: "Everything I Own" - Bread (#28 to #10) Biggest Dropper: "Scorpio" - Dennis Coffey & The Detroit Guitar Band (#18 to #28) Original extras: "Duke Of Earl" - Gene Chandler "Duke Of Earl" was played as an optional extra last time out but actually stays in the show this time Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "Everyday People" - Sly & The Family Stone Hour #2: "A Horse With No Name" - America (#84; debuted) Hour #3: "Kind Of A Drag" - The Buckinghams Of Note: "Everyday People" and "Kind Of A Drag" replace both "Glory Bound" and "The Nickel Song" in their respective optional slots. "A Horse With No Name" replaces "Duke Of Earl" so Premiere went from two below Top 40 extras and an older song to two older songs and one below Top 40 extra. And this is for a "B" show. Really. '80s preview is coming up.

And now a preview of this weekend's '80s shows The "A" show this week is from 2/13/1988 which aired back in 2013. Here is my repost from back then: Four songs debuted this week: "Hysteria" - Def Leppard (#35) "Man In The Mirror" - Michael Jackson (#36) "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" - Michael Bolton (#37) "Rocket 2 U" - The Jets (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "So Emotional" - Whitney Houston (#30) "There's The Girl" - Heart (#36) "Fatih" - George Michael (#37) "Rhythm Of Love" - Yes (#40) Biggest Mover: "I Get Weak" - Belinda Carlisle (#27 to #18) Biggest Dropper: "Crazy" - Icehouse (#24 to #39) Original extras: "Cupid" - Sam Cooke Long Distance Dedications (only one this week): "Shine A Little Love" - Electric Light Orchestra Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "Spotlight" - Madonna (NR) Hour #2: "Hot Hot Hot" - Buster Poindexter & His Banshees Of Blue (#45) Hour #3: "Wishing Well" - Terence Trent D'Arby (#51) Hour #4: "Electric Blue" - Icehouse (#88; debuted) The "B" show is from 2/21/1981 which aired in 2014 and in 2016. Here is an edited repost: Three songs debuted this week: "Fade Away" - Bruce Springsteen (#33) "Precious To Me" - Phil Seymour (#38) "Don't Stand So Close To Me" - The Police (#39) Three songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "I Made It Through The Rain" - Barry Manilow (#29) "Time Is Time" - Andy Gibb (#31) "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da" - The Police (#37) Biggest Mover: "Rapture" - Blondie (#32 to #19) Biggest Dropper (tie): "It's My Turn" - Diana Ross (#18 to #29) "Seven Bridges Road" - The Eagles (#21 to #32) Original extras: "Shake, Rattle & Roll" - Bill Haley & His Comets This song was played in memory of Haley who had recently died. Note that it takes the place of what would have been the scheduled Archive extra in Hour #2 Long Distance Dedications: "Baby I'm-A Want You" - Bread "Woman In Love" - Barbra Streisand Archive extras: "Chapel Of Love" - The Dixie Cups "A World Without Love" - Peter & Gordon Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "Just Once" - Quincy Jones featuring James Ingram (NR) Hour #2: "Angel Of The Morning" - Juice Newton (#70; highest debut) Hour #3: "Somebody's Knockin'" - Terri Gibbs (#45) Hour #4: "I Love You" - Climax Blues Band (#80; debuted) Of note: "Just Once" replaces "Fantastic Voyage" as the Hour #1 extra from both 2014 and 2016 airings because in case you haven't heard, James Ingram died recently (and they had to use a "B" show for this instead of waiting for 1981 to be an "A" show. Ugh!!!!!).

Regarding 2/26/72... Of Note: "Everyday People" and "Kind Of A Drag" replace both "Glory Bound" and "The Nickel Song" in their respective optional slots. "A Horse With No Name" replaces "Duke Of Earl" so Premiere went from two below Top 40 extras and an older song to two older songs and one below Top 40 extra. And this is for a "B" show. Really. Thank Ken Martin from Magic 103.1 WTOJ in upstate New York, of course. dL

Now that Billboard weekly charts from all years are avalaliable I can compile what my charts might have looked like back then. "Walk This Way" would have been my #1 . "Living Thing" and "Hard Luck Woman" are two more of my favs.
