All right, this weekend there are TWO '70s shows and TWO '80s shows which means I'm back to making a two-part post for this recap. We start first with the '70s. Now to conclude this weekend's recap with the two '80s shows. The "A" show for this week is from 5/3/1980 which aired back in 2009. Five songs debuted this week: "Steal Away" - Robbie Dupree (#33) "Let Me Be The Clock" - Smokey Robinson (#37) "Wondering Where The Lions Are" - Bruce Cockburn (#38) "Let's Get Serious" - Jermaine Jackson (#39) "Starting Over Again" - Dolly Parton (#40) Five songs fell off this week: "How Do I Make You" - Linda Ronstadt (#30) "Him" - Rupert Holmes (#34) "The Second Time Around" - Shalamar (#35) "Set Me Free" - Utopia (#36) "Only A Lonely Heart Sees" - Felix Cavaliere (#37) Biggest Mover: "The Rose" - Bette Midler (#39 to #29) Biggest Dropper: "Off The Wall" - Michael Jackson (#16 to #30) Original extras: "Big Girls Don't Cry" - The Four Seasons Long Distance Dedications: "Babe" - Styx "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" - Gladys Knight & The Pips Archive extras: "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" - Rod Stewart "I Will Survive" - Gloria Gaynor "Tragedy" - The Bee Gees Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Theme From New York, New York" - Frank Sinatra (#76; debuted) Hour #2: "Against The Wind" - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band (#54; highest debut) Hour #3: "Coming Up (Live At Glasgow)" - Paul McCartney & Wings (#53) Hour #4: "Little Jeannie" - Elton John (#65; debuted) The "B" show this week is from 5/9/1987 which aired in 2013 and in 2015. Here is a slightly edited repost. Two songs debuted this week: "Fascinated" - Company B (#39) "Just To See Her" - Smokey Robinson (#40) Two songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Ship Of Fools (Save Me From Tomorrow)" - World Party (#28) "Come Go With Me" - Expose (#32) Biggest Mover: "Head To Toe" - Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam (#40 to #29) Biggest Dropper: "Midnight Blue" - Lou Gramm (#12 to #37) Original extras: "Don't You (Forget About Me)" - SImple Minds Long Distance Dedications: "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" - Chicago Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Only In My Dreams" - Debbie Gibson (#93; debuted) Hour #2: "Point Of No Return" - Expose (#68; highest debut) Hour #3: "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" - Whitney Houston (NR) Hour #4: "Heart And Soul" - T'Pau (#71) Of note: Premiere replaced the Hour #3 extra "Something So Strong" (which was in both the 2013 and 2015 versions) with "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" for some reason and I don't understand why unless somebody connected with the song died recently (of course, Whitney has been dead for some time so that can't be it).

Of note: Premiere replaced the Hour #3 extra "Something So Strong" (which was in both the 2013 and 2015 versions) with "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" for some reason and I don't understand why unless somebody connected with the song died recently (of course, Whitney has been dead for some time so that can't be it). "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" was not on the Hot 100 on 5/9/87, but entered the entire Hot 100 in the top 40 (#38) the following week. Premiere has lately been more willing than it used to be to play such future top 40 hits that weren't yet on the chart, but it has been doing this for several years. "Something So Strong", meanwhile, has an additional fact attached to it that Larry Morgan could have noted, that being that Crowded House leader Neil Finn has for the last year been in Fleetwood Mac--themselves in the 1987 countdown as well.

This weekend there are two '70s shows and one '80s show so I'm back to doing a two-part preview for this weekend.
Starting with the one '80s show first.
"AT40: The '80s" this week presents 5/18/1985 which aired in 2007 and 2008.
Three songs debuted this week: "Raspberry Beret" - Prince (#37; Hot 100 Debut) "Voices Carry" - 'Til Tuesday (#39) "Show Some Respect" - Tina Turner (#39)
Three songs fell off this week: "Rock And Roll Girls" - John Fogerty (#27) "One More Night" - Phil Collins (#29) "Along Comes A Woman" - Chicago (#34)
Biggest Mover: "Sussudio" - Phil Collins (#39 to #29) Biggest Dropper: "I'm On Fire" - Bruce Springsteen (#24 to #39)
Original extras: "Suspicious Minds" - Elvis Presley Note: This was the first of a short-lived feature called "AT40 Hall of Fame" which profiled a historical artist in the then-30-year Rock and Roll era. This feature would be shelved by Fall (Heck, "Two-For-One" on Seacrest's AT40 had a much longer run than that). It will be played as one of the optional extras.
Long Distance Dedications: "That Was Yesterday" - Foreigner (#22) "Everything She Wants" - Wham! (#4)
Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Find A Way" - Amy Grant (#85; debuted) Hour #2: "The Goonies R Good Enough" - Cyndi Lauper (#45; debuted) Hour #3: "Suspicious Minds" - Elvis Presley Hour #4: "A View To A Kill" - Duran Duran (#43; debuted)
'70s preview is coming soon

1971 is a Ken Martin re-re-master, so I'm guessing he offered up the Boone switch. I'll go ask him on the Fun&Games board.

I went to a well-known chain restaurant for lunch the other day... most of the music they play, you wouldn't recognize... but the last song they played before I left was "Lyin' Eyes."
Then I walked across the street to a convenience store... and "Lyin' Eyes" was playing there too.
