Before I start this weekend's preview, I want to say R.I.P. Bob Kingsley :( Anyway, there is one '70s show and two '80s shows so once again my weekend preview will be a two-parter (the Christmas specials can't come fast enough). I'll start with the one '70s show first. "AT40: The '70s" this week presents 10/25/1975 which aired back in 2015. Here is an edited repost. Three songs debuted this week: "Fly Robin Fly" - The Silver Convention (#32) "Eighteen With A Bullet" - Pete Wingfield (#36) "Letting Go" - Paul McCartney & Wings (#39) Three songs fell off this week: "Rhinestone Cowboy" - Glen Campbell (#27) "Run Joey Run" - David Geddes (#32) "Wasted Days And Wasted Nights" - Freddy Fender (#37) Biggest Mover: "Island Girl" - Elton John (#36 to #8) Biggest Dropper: "Rocky" - Austin Roberts (#15 to #40) Original extras: "Somethin' Stupid" - Frank & Nancy Sinatra This song will actually be played in the broadcast. Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Love Machine (Part 1)" - The Miracles (#90; debuted) Hour #2: "That's The Way (I Like It)" - KC & The Sunshine Band (#50; highest debut) Hour #3: "Let's Do It Again" - The Staple Singers (#68; debuted) Of note: "Let's Do It Again" replaces "Heat Wave" as the original Hour #3 extra (although "Heat Wave" was actually in the countdown that week, Casey played it's B-side "Love Is A Rose" instead). '80s preview coming soon.

Now to preview both of the '80s shows this week. The "A" show this week is from 10/30/1982 which already aired twice. Here is an edited repost from 2012. Five songs debuted this week: "It's Raining Again" - Supertramp (#31; Hot 100 Debut) "I.G.Y. (What A Beautiful World)" - Donald Fagen (#36) "I Need You" - Paul Carrack (#37) "The Look Of Love (Part 1)" - ABC (#39) "I'm So Excited" - The Pointer Sisters (#40) Five songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Abracadabra" - Steve Miller Band (#10) "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" - Chicago (#16) "Eye Of The Tiger" - Survivor (#18) "Big Fun" - Kool & The Gang (#21) "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" - The Gap Band (#31) Biggest Mover: "Truly" - Lionel Richie (#36 to #14) Biggest Dropper: "Jack And Diane" - John Cougar Mellencamp (#1 to #2) Hey, that's what happens when nearly every song was at it's highest position to date that week. :) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Through The Years" - Kenny Rogers "You Light Up My Life" - Debby Boone Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Dirty Laundry" - Don Henley (#73; debuted) Hour #2: "Situation" - Yaz (#85) Hour #3: "Africa" - Toto (#75; debuted) Hour #4: "Shadows Of The Night" - Pat Benatar (#44) Of note: "Dirty Laundry" replaced a story told by Casey originally from this show about Mason Williams. I can only assume the Mason Williams story has since been reconstructed into the broadcast. The "B" show this week is from 10/27/1984 which previously aired in 2016. Here is an edited repost: Six songs debuted this week: "Sea Of Love" - The Honeydrippers (#33) "Cool It Now" - New Edition (#34) "Teacher Teacher" - 38 Special (#36) "I Can't Drive 55" - Sammy Hagar (#37) "Walking On A Thin Line" - Huey Lewis & The News (#39) "Strut" - Sheena Easton (#40) Six songs fell off this week: "Cruel Summer" - Bananarama (#27) "What's Love Got To Do With It" - Tina Turner (#29) "Flesh For Fantasy" - Billy Idol (#32) "There Goes My Baby" - Donna Summer (#33) "If This Is It" Huey Lewis & The News (#35) "Go Insane" - Lindsey Buckingham (#39) Biggest Mover: "I Feel For You" - Chaka Khan (#24 to #15) Biggest Dropper: "The Warrior" - Scandal Featuring Patty Smyth (#25 to #38) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Sister Christian" - Night Ranger "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy" - Sammy Hagar Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "The Wild Boys" - Duran Duran (NR) Hour #2: "Hello Again" - The Cars (#60; debuted) Hour #3: "We Belong" - Pat Benatar (#45; highest debut) Hour #4: Halloween Horror Movie Montage Of note: Save for the Halloween montage, the first three op extras replaced recent hits "Thriller", "Ghostbusters" and "Somebody's Watching Me" from the 2016 airing (Premiere had a Halloween theme going last time).

FYI can anybody here confirm what '80s show WPNC is airing this weekend? I tried to record it but it wasn't working. Their website doesn't list the 80s show, only 70s. I wonder if it was dropped... dL

Their website doesn't list the 80s show, only 70s. I wonder if it was dropped... dL They air both they were just off the air as I tried to hear both they do them both on Saturdays with the 80's at 10AM Eastern & the 70's at 2PM Eastern with repeats at 12AM Eastern Tuesday for the 70's & 12AM Eastern Wednesday for the 80's they also air the extras & the first hour of the 4 hour 70's shows. Well, considering WPNC goes with either "A" or "B" when two-show options are available (always the later year for the '70s; '80s can go either way), you'd think they'd be aware when people are tuning in wondering which of the two options the station would air. Would be nice if they got a better stream but what can you do? BTW I wouldn't want to be WPNC this Saturday because this weekend there are TWO '70s shows and TWO '80s shows so for the last time this year (I got confirm the Christmas specials start next weekend), my preview will be a two-parter and I'll start with the '70s first. The "A" show this week is from 11/11/1978. Five songs debuted this week: "YMCA" - The Village People (#31) "How You Gonna See Me Now" - Alice Cooper (#35) "Hold The Line" - Toto (#37) "My Life" - Billy Joel (#39) "Like A Sunday In Salem (The Amos & Andy Song)" - Gene Cotton (#40) Five songs fell off this week: "Prisoner Of Your Love" - Player (#27) "Took The Last Train" - David Gates (#30) "Themes From The Wizard Of Oz" - Meco (#35) "Summer Nights" - John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John (#37) "She's Always A Woman" - Billy Joel (#39) Biggest Mover: "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" - Barbra Streisand & Neil Diamond (#31 to #16) Biggest Dropper: "Talking In Your Sleep" - Crystal Gayle (#18 to #36) Original extras: "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" - Marvin Gaye "Sloop John B" - The Beach Boys "Sloop John B" will be played as the optional extra in Hour #3 (I need to specify because...) while "Grapevine" will remain in the show. Long Distance Dedications: "The Right Thing To Do" - Carly Simon "Easy" - The Commodores Archive extras: "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" - Diana Ross "Cracklin' Rosie" - Neil Diamond "I'll Be There" - Jackson 5 Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "New York Groove" - Ace Frehley (#50) Hour #2: "Ooh Baby Baby" - Linda Ronstadt (#59; highest debut) Hour #3: "Sloop John B" - The Beach Boys (original AT40 extra) Hour #4: "Too Much Heaven" - The Bee Gees (NR) Yes, Premiere will place an original show extra as the op extra in Hour #3 but not Hour #1 (which most affiliates generally skip!). Premiere's logic for both AT40 (Classic Casey/Current Ryan) versions can be complicated. The "B" show for this week is from 10/30/1971 which previously aired in 2014. Here was my repost back then. Six songs debuted this week: "Have You Seen Her" - The Chi-Lites (#21) "Everybody's Everything" - Santana (#28) "Questions 67 & 68" - Chicago (#35) "Two Divided By Love" - The Grass Roots (#38) "One Tin Soldier (The Legend Of Billy Jack)" - Coven (#39) "Absolutely Right" - Five Man Electrical Band (#40) Six songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Stick Up" - The Honey Cone (#22) "Smiling Faces Sometimes" - The Undisputed Truth (#30) "I Woke Up In Love This Morning" - The Partridge Family (#31) "Rain Dance" - The Guess Who (#33) "The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind)" - The Dells (#39) "I'm Comin' Home" - Tommy James (#40) Biggest Mover: "Imagine" - John Lennon (#20 to #6) Biggest Dropper (tie): "So Far Away" - Carole King (#16 to #27) "Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)" - Kris Kristofferson (#26 to #37) Original extras: "Oh My Love" - John Lennon "96 Tears" - ? & The Mysterians Both of these songs will be played as the first two optional extras. The optional extra in Hour #3 is "Your Move" by Yes which was at #66 on the Hot 100 that week. '80s preview is coming up.

Now to conclude with the two '80s shows scheduled for this weekend. The "A" show for this week is from 11/7/1987 which aired back in 2010. Here is an edited repost. Five songs debuted this week: "Is This Love" - Whitesnake (#30) "Skeletons" - Stevie Wonder (#32) "Valerie" - Steve Winwood (#35) "So Emotional" - Whitney Houston (#38) "That's What Love Is All About" - Michael Bolton (#40) Five songs also fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Paper In Fire" - John Cougar Mellencamp (#26) "I Heard A Rumour" - Bananarama (#30) "Holiday" - The Other Ones (#32) "Didn't We Almost Have It All" - Whitney Houston (#35) "Betcha Say That" - Miami Sound Machine (#36) Biggest Mover: "Faith" - George Michael (#37 to #27) Biggest Dropper: "Who Will You Run To" - Heart (#23 to #39) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Wanted: Dead Or Alive" - Bon Jovi "Holding Out For A Hero" - Bonnie Tyler Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Rock And Roll All Nite" - Poison (NR) Hour #2: "I Live For Your Love" - Natalie Cole (#90; debuted) Hour #3: "Tell It To My Heart" - Taylor Dayne (#43) Hour #4: "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)" - Aerosmith (#41) Of note: For some reason, Premiere replaced the original Hour #1 extra ("Power Of Love" by Laura Branigan) with Poison's (presumed) "Rock And Roll All Nite" remake which isn't even listed in the corresponding Hot 100. Why couldn't they have added "Cherry Bomb" instead? But, hey, at least they switch extras for an "A" show (unlike last week when it was for a "B" show). Anyway, the "B" show for this week is from 11/7/1981 which already aired twice. Here is my repost from 2013. Seven songs debuted this week: "Trouble" - Lindsey Buckingham (#30) "Leather and Lace" - Stevie Nicks & Don Henley (#31) "Harden My Heart" - Quarterflash (#33) "No Reply At All" - Genesis (#36) "Take My Heart" - Kool & The Gang (#37) "The Sweetest Thing (I've Ever Known)" - Juice Newton (#39) "Don't Stop Believin'" - Journey (#40) Seven songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Who's Crying Now" - Journey (#25) "Alien" - Atlanta Rhythm Section (#29) "Urgent" - Foreigner (#32) "Hold On Tight" - ELO (#33) "He's a Liar" - The Bee Gees (#34) "In The Dark" - Billy Squier (#35) "You Saved My Soul" - Burton Cummings (#37) Biggest Mover: "Physical" - Olivia Newton-John (#23 to #14) Biggest Dropper: "Step By Step" - Eddie Rabbitt (#10 to #22) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "The One That You Love" - Air Supply "Every Time I Think of You" - The Babys Archive extras (all three are included): "Love Theme from 'Romeo & Juliet'" - Henry Mancini "In The Year 2525" - Zager & Evans "Honky Tonk Women" - The Rolling Stones Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "Hooked On Classics" - The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (#74) Hour #2: "Centerfold" - J. Geils Band (#70; debuted) Hour #3: "Under Pressure" - Queen & David Bowie (#80; debuted) Hour #4: "Cool Night" - Paul Davis (#83; debuted)

I'm guessing WPNC will go with 1978 (I'm wondering why it's 11/11 & not 11/4) since they like the 4 hour shows but I wouldn't mind if they went with 1970 because I usually hear the 4 hour shows on WSQL Thursdays (which I hope they play instead of Halloween music). Another possibility for 1970 is KFLM out of Australia as they sometimes play "B" shows when the "A" show is 4 hours. As for last weeks 10/27/84 show I'm going to make a 7 extra special using the hours 1-3 with extras from last weekend & add the Top 10 from the old iHeart Austin feed that played the Rockwell & Montage extras along with the Thriller extra I found on another site & for the other extra Ghostbusters I'm thinking of using the extra from the 10/31/87 show where Casey told a ghost story & played it as a Halloween extra.

Because 11/4/1978 was already played and 11/11 hasn't. Best I can come up with. And listening to WPNC's '80s re-air, they went with the "A" show of 1982. EDIT: Upon looking it up, 11/11/1978 was the only four-hour 1978 show Premiere hasn't aired in some form. 11/18/1978 and 12/2/1978 only aired in three-hour versions. I would expect Premiere to probably air one of these two shows in four-hour format next year.

Edit the WPNC replays are the 80's Tuesday at 12AM Eastern & the 70's Wednesday at 12AM Eastern. As for the Poison extra it was from the Less Than Zero soundtrack so maybe it's Hazy Shade Of Winter by the Bangles & they put the wrong song.

Poison's "...All Nite" was definitely a remake, but I don't remember it getting much mileage outside of rock radio. It was reportedly released as a single, but at a time when "I Won't Forget You" was also climbing the chart, as was the unrelated group Pretty Poison with "Catch Me, I'm Falling."

I remember their remake of "Your Momma Don't Dance" but I don't even remember this one. Columbia must've went with a 3 tier approach sending Poison's "Rock..." to rock stations, Bangles "Hazy..." to Top 40 & LL Cool J's "Goin' Back To Cali" to R&B stations with the other 2 surviving the movie's drop off after the first couple weeks.
