Darn, I was hoping to hear the Winchester Cathedral Extra. I have a mp3 I downloaded from the 2013 airing but it has no extras. Did they play it as an extra then or was it lost?

STATIONS OF THE WEEK: Both KOKZ "Iowa's Classic Hits" in Waterloo and KMCH "Mix 94.7" in Manchester, Iowa, played all three optional extras. Casey mentioned Kris Kristofferson's "Why Me"—he called it, "Why Me, Lord"—during this, its 35th week in the Billboard Hot 100, was in the midst of a record-long run in the Top 40 at 17 weeks and counting. Although it never reached any higher than #16 in the Top 40, its persistence eventually resulted in its infamously coming in at #2 on AT40's "The 40 Top Hits of 1973" countdown, second only to "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree"! Noting that five of the first six records—and 17 in all—were on their way down the Top 40 after peaking, it's curious how the hits during this time tended to retreat slowly, as opposed to dropping like a rock as they did only a few years later. Rather than changes in buying habits and/or airplay patterns behind this, I suspect it was evolving chart methodology and/or data collection techniques. Regardless of any chart oddities, this may have been my favorite time in pop music.

-- 38 David Naughton - Makin’ It (5)
from American Werewolf in London fame. Also the song is from 'Meatballs" soundtrack. 70's and 80's comedies were a lot more funny. Today's comedy seems almost cruel, but back in the day it was lighthearted and full of harmless Double entendre.

Here are this weekend's Classic Casey shows. "AT40: The '70s" this week is from 12/16/1972 which last aired in 2009. Here is an edited repost: Three songs debuted this week: "You're So Vain" - Carly Simon (#37) "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" - James Taylor (#38) "Angel" - Rod Stewart (#40) * = on "Angel", AT40 accidentally played the B-side which is "Lost Paraguayos". "Angel" spent one week in the Top 40 with the correct side never to be played. Three songs fell off the Top 40 this week: "Convention '72" - the Delegates (#28) "Rock 'n Roll Soul" - Grand Funk Railroad (#31) "Theme From 'The Men'" - Isaac Hayes (#38) Biggest Mover: "Been To Canaan" - Carole King (#40 to #31) Biggest Dropper: "I'd Love You To Love Me" - Lobo (#16 to #29) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Lost Paraguayos" - Rod Stewart (#40) Hour #2: "Rocky Mountain High" - John Denver (#53) Hour #3: "Crocodile Rock" - Elton John (#46) Of note: AT40 had restored "Angel" in the countdown (because Casey played the B-side "Lost Paraguayos" in what turned out to be its' lone AT40 appearance) which bumps the original B-side to op extra staus ("Dancing In The Moonlight", one of the original 1972 extras, was dropped to make room). "AT40: The '80s" this week presents 12/26/1987 which aired three times already. Here is an edited repost from 2011: Five songs debuted this week: "Say You Will" - Foreigner (#33) "Honestly" - Stryper (#36) "Everywhere" - Fleetwood Mac (#38) "What Have I Done To Deserve This" - The Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield (#39) "Push It" - Salt N Pepa (#40) Five songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "The One I Love" - R.E.M. (#25) "I Do You" - The Jets (#29) "Skeletons" - Stevie Wonder (#30) "I Think We're Alone Now" - Tiffany (#33) "Hourglass" - Squeeze (#38) Biggest Mover: "Could've Been" - Tiffany (#24 to #16) Biggest Dropper: "We'll Be Together" - Sting (#10 to #28) Original extras: "Small Town" - John Cougar Mellencamp Long Distance Dedications: "Through The Years" - Kenny Rogers "Seasons In The Sun" - Terry Jacks Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Can't Stay Away From You" - Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine (#45) Hour #2: "Just Like Heaven" - The Cure (#41) Hour #3: "I Found Someone" - Cher (#44) Hour #4: "Never Gonna Give You Up" - Rick Astley (#61)

Three shows are on tap for the first shows of 2020. As always, the 70's first.
The A show is from 1/8/72 (originally broadcast in 2010).
New to the top 40 that week:
"Make Me The Woman You Go Home To" - Gladys Knight & The Pips (#38) "That's The Way I Feel About Cha" - Bobby Womack & Peace (#37) "The Witch Queen Of New Orleans" - Redbone (#29) "Never Been To Spain" - Three Dog Night (#23)

The hour 1 and 3 extras ("Without You" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight") are the same as the last airing. Hour 2's extra from last time ("Precious And Few") has been replaced by a track from the #1 album in the country that week, which was Carole King's Music ("Brighter").
The B show is from 1/7/78 (originally aired in 2011).
Four debuts that week as well. They were: "Peg" - Steely Dan (#40) "(You're My) Soul And Inspiration" - Donny & Marie Osmond (#39) "What's Your Name" - Lynyrd Skynyrd (#38) "Emotion" - Samantha Sang (#37)
Dropping out were: "You Make Loving Fun" - Fleetwood Mac (#21) "Baby, What A Big Surprise" - Chicago (#25) "Heaven On The 7th Floor" - Paul Nicholas (#31) "Your Smiling Face" - James Taylor (#38)
The three extras from the 2011 airing (""Why Can't We Be Friends", "Always & Forever", and "Midnight Train To Georgia") are the same as last time.
The 80's show is up next.

Cool. I get another week off.
Next time, do the one show decade first before the two show one (or if both decades have two shows, do '70s first, then '80s)
