Dare I ask what might be the 80's show(s) next weekend Hopefully just 1 as I don't mind 1 of 1 & 2 of the other but finding 2 of both on the weekend takes a lot. I think we can guess the 70's show the week after is the 1st show for the 50th anniversary.

As such, Larry Morgan updated the song's intro and outro to reflect this. - Townsend Coleman must have been listening carefully to this particular countdown because when WGCL had him "sub" for Casey two weeks later (in place of the planned Disco special, which Casey promoted), he copied much of Casey's talkthroughs - #1 Soul LP: Bad Girls - #1 Country LP: The Gambler - #1 AC: Shadows In The Moonlight - #1 Soul: Ring My Bell - #1 Country: "Nobody Likes Sad Songs" - Ronnie Milsap - #1 Disco: Bad Girls LP

Now to close my preview with this weekend's '80s shows. The "A" show this week is from 6/28/1980 which is in its' fourth airing. Five songs debuted this week: "In America" - Charlie Daniels Band (#25) "Love The World Away" - Kenny Rogers (#34) "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" - The S.O.S. Band (#36) "Stand By Me" - Mickey Gilley (#37) "Ashes By Now" - Rodney Crowell (#39) Five songs fell off the Top 40 this week: "Sexy Eyes" - Dr. Hook (#23) "We Live For Love" - Pat Benatar (#27) "Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" - Manhattan Transfer (#30) "Ride Like The Wind" - Christopher Cross (#36) "We Were Meant To Be Lovers" - Photoglo (#37) Biggest Mover: "Magic" - Olivia Newton-John (#24 to #16) Biggest Dropper: "Hurts So Bad" - Linda Ronstadt (#19 to #26) Original extras: "On Broadway" - George Benson Long Distance Dedications: "It Keeps You Runnin'" - The Doobie Brothers "Thank You For Being A Friend" - Andrew Gold Archive extras (first show featuring the #1 songs from the 1960's): "Why" - Frankie Avalon "El Paso" - Marty Robbins "Running Bear" - Johnny Preston Of note: Premiere finally restored both "Why" and "Running Bear" to this show after being cut in its' previous three airings. But by adding two extras, Premiere has decided to delete one as the "On Broadway" extra will be played as one of this week's optional extras. And Premiere also changed up the optional extras format with no repeaters from the 2012 airing (at least for the first three hours). And none of these extras were below this week's Top 40 Hour #1: "The Glow Of Love" - Change (this over "Lover's Holiday"?!?) Hour #2: "Emotional Rescue" - The Rollong Stones Hour #3: "On Broadway" - George Benson (original AT40 extra) Hour #4: "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)" - Bonnie Pointer Premiere really wanted to honor Bonnie Pointer's memory in both their '70s and '80s shows (and this was her lone hit the entire decade - and it peaked at #40!) The "B" show this week is from 6/28/1986 which is also in its' fourth airing. Here is my repost from 2018. Four songs debuted this week: "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off" - Jermaine Stewart (#35) "Secret Separation" - The Fixx (#36) "You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song)" - Jeffrey Osborne (#39) "Hyperactive" - Robert Palmer (#40) Four songs fell off this week: "Rain On The Scarecrow" - John Cougar Mellencamp (#26) "Is It Love" - Mr. Mister (#28) "Be Good To Yourself" - Journey (#36) "Move Away" - Culture Club (#39) Biggest Mover: "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money)" - Pet Shop Boys (#33 to #23) Biggest Dropper: "Something About You" - Level 42 (#13 to #29) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "It's My Turn" - Diana Ross "Greatest Love Of All" - Whitney Houston (#22 this week) "You're A Friend Of Mine" - Clarence Clemons & Jackson Browne Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Rumbleseat" - John Cougar Mellencamp (#78; debuted) Hour #2: "Venus" - Bananarama (#89; debuted) Hour #3: "Sweet Freedom" - Michael McDonald (#56) Hour #4: "Papa Don't Preach" - Madonna (#42; highest debut)

Of the 6/28/80 optional extras, Change's "A Lover's Holiday" may have been heading to the top 40 (where it spent one week at #40), but "The Glow of Love" is arguably better known today, as it's been sampled and interpolated into several other songs, including Janet Jackson's #1 hit "All For You".
"Emotional Rescue" debuted on the Hot 100 at #33 the following week--when there was no regular AT40, but rather Casey hosted the "Book of Records" special which has never been played by Premiere, possibly because there's no 1980s music in it (only six months into the decade was probably a bit early for any major records to be set.) It has some 1970s songs but the majority is 1940s-60s music.

I like the 70's & 80's AT40 shows & wish that the Shadoe Stevens shows could be listened to also.

Nice that they put Why & Running Bear back in the show I was curious if the new PC era would keep Running Bear out. As for the Bonnie Pointer song it was on the Top 40 for 2 weeks in February & the 2/16/80 show is on the iHeart schedule twice where it airs twice within 2 days sometimes both of them being the same day.
