So they replace I Feel For You my favorite of the 9/8/84 extras I'd rather them replaced On The Dark Side not to mention Who Wears These Shoes was not one of Elton John's best songs.

^Probably because "Who Wears These Shoes" was the highest debut of the week and debuted the following week. Premiere played "I Feel For You" as an optional on the week of September 22, 1984, which aired in 2013.

I saw on the AT40 fan board that Hour 3 for 1974 was changed to "Jungle Boogie" & Hour 2 for 1986 was changed to "Victory" to honor Ronald "Khalis" Bell that passed away last week.

Here's some help with the 2nd extra from the mp3 of the last airing that question is in between #25 & #24 on the show so it sounds like they'll extend it to the whole song like they did earlier in the year. BTW the song is Smoke, Smoke, Smoke by Tex Williams so nothing like getting to hear a almost 75 year old song.

This weekend, we have one '80s show and two '70s shows so I'm back to doing two-part postings this week. We'll start with the one '80s show first. "AT40: The '80s" this week presents 10/5/1985 which aired back in 2015. Here is my repost from back then: Six songs debuted this week: "Lay Your Hands On Me" - Thompson Twins (#34) "You Are My Lady" - Freddie Jackson (#36) "Communication" - Power Station (#37) "Never" - Heart (#38) "Love Theme From St. Elmo's Fire" - David Foster (#39) "Boy In The Box" - Corey Hart (#40) Six songs fell off this week: "Freeway Of Love" - Aretha Franklin (#23) "Smokin' In The Boys Room" - Motley Crue (#26) "You're Only Human (Second Wind)" - Billy Joel (#27) "I Got You Babe" - UB40 with Chryssie Hynde (#32) "There Must Be An Angel" - The Eurythmics (#33) "Summer Of '69" - Bryan Adams (#35) Biggest Mover (tie): "Miami Vice Theme" - Jan Hammer (#22 to #13) "We Built This City" - Starship (#40 to #31) Biggest Dropper: "Invincible" - Pat Benatar (#21 to #35) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Time After Time" - Cyndi Lauper "You're Only Human (Second Wind)" - Billy Joel (fell out of Top 40 this week) Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "The Night Is Still Young" - Billy Joel (#65; debuted) Hour #2: "Separate Lives" - Phil Collins & Marilyn Martin (#45; highest debut) Hour #3: "Who's Zoomin' Who" - Aretha Franklin (#41) Hour #4: "One Of The Living" - Tina Turner (#52; debuted) My '70s preview is coming up.

Now to preview the two '70s shows this weekend. The "A" show is from 10/3/1970 which aired back in 2014. Here was my repost from back then: Four songs debuted this week: "We've Only Just Begun" - The Carpenters (#18) "Somebody's Been Sleeping In My Bed" - 100 Proof Aged In Soul (#37) "Do What You Wanna Do" - Five Flights Up (#39) "Stand By Your Man" - Candi Staton (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Solitary Man" - Neil Diamond (#28) "Peace Will Come (According To Plan)" - Melanie (#32) "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" - Stevie Wonder (#34) "Hand Me Down World" - Guess Who (#36) Biggest Mover: "Still Water (Love)" - The Four Tops (#39 to #20) Biggest Dropper: "In The Summertime" - Mungo Jerry (#15 to #35) Original extras: "Mr. Custer" - Larry Verne "Goin' Out Of My Head/Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" - The Lettermen "Young Love" - Sonny James "Easier Said Than Done" - The Essex Of note: "Mr. Custer" has been deleted from the show while the Lettermen medley remains; "Young Love" and "Easier Said Than Done" are the op extras in Hours #2 and #3 respectively. The Hour #1 op extra was the Beatles' "Yesterday". Not sure what show this came from but it's there. The "B" show for this week is from 9/27/1975 which has aired four times already. Here is my repost from 2011. Before I get to previewing this weekend's shows, I want to make a correction: 9/28/1974 was the last AT40 show in which they had affiliates identifying themselves. My bad. As for this weekend's shows, "AT40: The '70s" presents 9/27/1975. Four songs debuted this week: "I Got Stoned And I Missed It" - Jim Stafford (#37) "I Only Have Eyes For You" - Art Garfunkel (#38) "If I Ever Lose This Heaven" - Average White Band (#39) "Lyin' Eyes" - The Eagles (#40) Four songs fell off the Top 40 this week: "Third Rate Romance" - The Amazing Rhythm Aces (#14) "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" - James Taylor (#29) "Black Superman/Muhammad Ali" - Johnny Wakelin & The Kinshasa Band (#30) "Your Love" - Graham Central Station (#38) Biggest Mover: "Who Loves You" - The Four Seasons (#40 to #30) Biggest Dropper: "Solitaire" - The Carpenters (#17 to #36) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Rockin' All Over The World" - John Fogarty (#42) Hour #2: "Born To Run" - Bruce Springsteen (#58) Hour #3: "SOS" - Abba (#76)

Darn was hoping they'd put back in Mr. Custer. It's not like they don't play the Beatles enough that they use something not from the show instead of something actually in it.

Playing the 1975 show will have a special meaning with the recent departed Helen Reddy's "Ain't No Way To Treat A Lady" at #11.... Next week or so, substitute optional extras could be played in honor of both Helen Reddy and Mac Davis

This coming weekend we have TWO '70s shows and TWO '80s shows so once again my preview will be a two-parter. I'll start first with the '70s The "A" show for this week is from 10/7/1978 (first ever four-hour show). Here is my repost from 2012 Three songs debuted this week: "Took The Last Train" - David Gates (#38) "Ready To Take A Chance Again" - Barry Manilow (#39) "Sweet Life" - Paul Davis (#40) Three songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" - Chris Rea (#17) "Love Theme From 'Eyes Of Laura Mars' (Prisoner)" - Barbra Streisand (#21) "Got To Get You Into My Life" - Earth, Wind & Fire (#34) Biggest Mover: "How Much I Feel" - Ambrosia (#29 to #16) Biggest Dropper: "You And I" - Rick James (#13 to #31) Original extras: "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart" - Elton John & Kiki Dee "Dreams" - Fleetwood Mac "You Light Up My Life" - Debby Boone "('Til) I Kissed You" - The Everly Brothers The Everly Brothers extra will be played as an optional extra this week. The other three extras will remain in the show. Long Distance Dedications: "One Tin Soldier" - Coven "Sunshine On My Shoulders" - John Denver Archive extras "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" - B.J. Thomas "I Want You Back" - The Jackson Five "Venus" - Shocking Blue Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "I'm Every Woman" - Chaka Khan (#86; debuted) Hour #2: "Time Passages" - Al Stewart (#75) Hour #3: "Sharing The Night Together" - Dr. Hook (#48) Hour #4: "('Til) I Kissed You" - The Everly Brothers (original AT40 extra) The "B" show this week is from 10/7/1972. Here is my repost: Here are this weekend's AT40 shows: AT40: The '70s this week features 10/7/1972: Six songs debuted this week: "I Can See Clearly Now" - Johnny Nash (#33) "I Believe In Music" - Gallery (#35) "Midnight Rider" - Joe Cocker and the Chris Stainton Band (#36) "Geronimo's Cadillac" - Michael Martin Murphey (#37) "Loving You Just Crossed My Mind" - Sam Neely (#39) "I'll Be Around" - The Spinners (#40) Six songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Rock And Roll (Part 2)" - Gary Glitter (#30) "Pop That Thang" - Isley Brothers (#32) "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)" - Looking Glass (#33) "The Guitar Man" - Bread (#36) "Easy Livin'" - Uriah Heep (#39) "Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)" - The Hollies (#40) Biggest Mover: "Tight Rope" - Leon Russell (#26 to #16) Biggest Dropper: "Power Of Love" - Joe Simon (#11 to #32) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Summer Breeze" - Seals & Crofts (#59) Hour #2: "If You Don't Know Me By Now" - Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes (#61) Hour #3: "I Am Woman" - Helen Reddy (#46) As an aside, I received the cue sheet BEFORE the recent deaths of Helen Reddy and Mac Davis. At least Helen is already represented with "I Am Woman" but it's possible Premiere might bump one of the other op extras for "Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me". Of course with 1978 being featured (and the vast majority of '70s affiliates most likely opting for that year), good luck finding a '70s affiliate willing to air 1972 with the optional extras included. I'll preview the '80s soon.

Don't forget on KLFM it will start an hour earlier as they sat their clocks ahead an hour in Australia last Sunday.

I just saw a facebook post from KLFM & they are going with 1978 (I'm assuming just the last 3 hours) so a station playing 1972 might not be easy to find. Another negative it was just played as a A show last year. I have a copy but the station didn't play the extras so I was hoping KLFM or another that did would play it.

Just great about 1972. Really great.
No updates from that year but I can confirm Premiere has changed the optional extras for the 1978 show and the 1984 show for Eddie Van Halen (who just died).
For 1978, Premiere has replaced "Time Passages" in Hour #2 with "You Really Got Me". For 1984, Premiere has replaced "I Can't Drive 55" in Hour #4 with "Jump" (a bit of irony given that Sammy Hagar was once a part of Van Halen).

BTW best bets for 1984 this weekend are either WPNC (which can go either way) or KABQ. That's pretty much it.

Sometimes WRQQ (Saturday 7AM Eastern) goes with the later 80's show & plays extras. Also KZOY plays the B show Saturdays at 1PM Eastern but doesn't play the extras. Sadly, they picked I Can't Drive 55 the best of the 4 extras to change. It's also going to be fun to see if some stations don't get the updated extras. Just last Thursday KTSO replayed last years 10/3/87 B show & must've got the un-updated version as the first extra of Richard Marx's Should've Known Better was played instead of it being changed to Eddie Money's I Wanna Go Back.

I don't think WXXM plays the extras though as I'd like to hear them especially the Eddie Van Halen tribute in hour 4

In the 1980 show they could have, but apparently didn't, switch one of the extras out for a Van Halen song from that year--likely "And the Cradle Will Rock", which still gets significant airplay.

BTW best bets for 1984 this weekend are either WPNC (which can go either way) or KABQ. That's pretty much it. WXXM-FM Rewind 92.1 in Madison, WI, broadcasts 80's B show on Saturdays at 9 pm Eastern, and 70's B show on Sundays at 6 pm Eastern, respectively. rewind921.iheart.com/Guess that means they will play the 1972 show tomorrow
