At 5PM ET, WPNC aired the AT40 episode from May 5, 2001 and at 9PM ET, they re-aired the 2000 Y2K Special (I expect this will likely be a staple of any special holiday Casey programming).

All right, this weekend there is one '70s show and two '80s shows so once again my weekend preview will be a two-parter. I'll start with the '70s first. Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "Moody River" - Pat Boone (original AT40 Archive extra) Hour #2: "I'm Coming Out" - Diana Ross (#76) Hour #3: "You Shook Me All Night Long" - AC/DC (#80) Hour #4: "Whip It" - Devo (#60) Of note: With Premiere's moves on the optional extra front, "Moody River" and "I'm Coming Out" replace Genesis' "Turn It On Again" and the Kinks' live version of "Lola". Since neither made the Top 40, they won't be too missed. The "B" show this week is from 9/5/1987, which has previously aired twice. Here is another edited repost: Four songs debuted this week: "Casanova" - Levert (#34) "Let Me Be The One" - Expose (#36) "Never Let Me Down" - David Bowie (#39) "Fake" - Alexander O'Neal (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Jam Tonight" - Freddie Jackson (#32) "Shakedown" - Bob Seger (#34) "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" - Gloria Estefan & the Miami Sound Machine (#36) "Alone" - Heart (#40) Biggest Mover (tie): "Lost In Emotion" - Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam (#30 to #21) "Carrie" - Europe (#29 to #20) Biggest Dropper: "Back In The High Life Again" - Steve Winwood (#22 to #37) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" - Glenn Medeiros "Lean On Me" - Club Nouveau "Who's That Girl" - Madonna (#3 this week) Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Causing A Commotion" - Madonna (NR; debuted in Hot 100 following week) Hour #2: "Bad" - Michael Jackson (NR) Hour #3: "I've Been In Love Before" - Cutting Crew (#75; debuted) Hour #4: "Little Lies" - Fleetwood Mac (#47) Of note: Premiere has replaced Poison's "I Won't Forget You" as the Hour #2 optional extra from the 2013 and 2017 airings with "Bad". Again, Premiere changes the optional extras lineup for a "B" show and unlike most instances, it isn't because of a recent death especially since MICHAEL HAS BEEN DEAD SINCE 2009!!!!!!!

jdelachjr2002, "Bad" was two weeks away from débuting on the Hot 100 at #40. Reason enough for them. dL

Of note: Premiere has replaced Poison's "I Won't Forget You" as the Hour #2 optional extra from the 2013 and 2017 airings with "Bad". Again, Premiere changes the optional extras lineup for a "B" show and unlike most instances, it isn't because of a recent death especially since MICHAEL HAS BEEN DEAD SINCE 2009!!!!!!! If Premiere wants to switch up optionals in their own show, I don't see why that's a problem or why anyone would be upset about it. And besides, "Bad" was a much bigger hit than "I Won't Forget You." And if they don't play it this week, when's a better time? The following week is guest hosted.

"Sukiyaki" was both a Long Distance Dedication and an obituary for Kyu Sakamoto, who had recently died. So it in a sense was a "death dedication"--which in case anyone is wondering followed Whitney Houston's ballad "Saving All My Love For You", not an uptempo g--d--- number unlike a certain letter to a deceased family dog the preceding week.

“Halloween” was played as an optional in 2018 and Larry mentioned the new movie. There was a new intro this time around mentioning the latest “Halloween” movie which came out this month. I don’t remember what he said in 2014.

We have only one '70s show and one '80s show this weekend but because Premiere won't let us off easy, they also scheduled two specials for this weekend (apparently they think Halloween is a Federal holiday which it isn't). Still I will only be making one post for this weekend's preview. "AT40: The '70s" this week presents 10/30/1976. Here is an edited repost from 2012: Back to a single post (for this week at least) for my AT40 Preview this weekend. "AT40: The '70s" presents 10/30/1976. This show previously aired in 2007 and 2009. Five songs debut this week: "I Never Cry" - Alice Cooper (#34) "Nice 'n Naasty" - Salsoul Orchestra (#36) "Nights Are Forever Without You" - England Dan & John Ford Coley (#37) "Anything You Want" - John Valenti (#38) "Give It Up (Turn It Loose)" - Tyrone Davis (#40) Five songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Get The Funk Out Ma Face" - The Brothers Johnson (#34) "Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang" - Silver (#36) "With Your Love" - Jefferson Starship (#37) "Say You Love Me" - Fleetwood Mac (#38) "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart" - Elton John & Kiki Dee (#40) Biggest Mover: "Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)" - Rod Stewart (#35 to #22) Biggest Dropper (tie): "Lowdown" - Boz Scaggs (#4 to #25) "Still The One" - Orleans (#5 to #26) Original extras: "Frankenstein" - Edgar Winter Group "Monster Mash" - Bobby "Boris" Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers Both of these songs will be played as optional extras Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Monster Mash" - Bobby "Boris" Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers Hour #2: "Frankenstein" - Edgar Winter Group (original AT40 extra) Hour #3: "Car Wash" - Rose Royce (#82) "AT40: The '80s" this week presents 11/2/1985 which aired back in 2014. Here is my repost from back then: Three songs debuted this week: "Election Day" - Arcadia (#35) "Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves" - The Eurythmics & Aretha Franklin (#39) "Wrap Her Up" - Elton John (#40) Three songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Dress You Up" - Madonna (#28) "Four In The Morning (I Can't Take Anymore)" - Night Ranger (#32) "The Way You Do The Things You Do/My Girl" - Daryl Hall & John Oates with Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin (#33) Biggest Mover: "Broken Wings" - Mr. Mister (#27 to #20) Biggest Dropper: "Dancing In The Street" - Mick Jagger & David Bowie (#15 to #29) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" - Diana Ross "America" - Neil Diamond Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Home Sweet Home" - Motley Crue (#91) Hour #2: "Party All The Time" - Eddie Murphy (#43) Hour #3: "Burning Heart" - Survivor (#64; debuted) Hour #4: "Say You Say Me" - Lionel Richie (NR) Now for this weekend's specials: First, "AT40: The '80s" will wrap up their '80s Chronological #1 Hits special (August 1987 - October 1988). Optional extras are the same as the 2017 airing: Hour #1: "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" - The Pet Shop Boys & Dusty Springfield Hour #2: "Endless Summer Nights" - Richard Marx Hour #3: "The Devil Inside" - INXS Hour #4: "Shattered Dreams" - Johnny Hates Jazz Premiere is also offering a rebroadcast of AT10 from 10/30/2004 (Spotlight: Halloween). Honestly, what Classic AT40 affiliate is going to want to play this show?

Premiere is also offering a rebroadcast of AT10 from 10/30/2004 (Spotlight: Halloween). Honestly, what Classic AT40 affiliate is going to want to play this show? I see a moderate interest from affiliates that seasonally go all-Christmas. dL

No confirm yet on any Classic AT40 affiliates agreeing to pick up the 2004 AT10 Halloween show this weekend?
Just saw a Facebook post confirming WPNC will air it. Sunday at 4PM Eastern.
