Isn't this about the time when Premiere starts offering the Casey-hosted Christmas shows as B's? Or does that not begin until next week, later, or not at all this year?

I have heard from 2 different sources that there is no B show for the 1980s this week, and that a Christmas option is available. There likely was originally a B show scheduled and no Christmas, but something changed. I guess we'll see!

Here is my *theory* on what happened: Premiere originally planned on what was posted recently in this thread. Some station(s) downloaded the 1986 show. Premiere then changed their mind during the week last week, adding a Christmas option and removing the 1986 show. Most stations then had to play 1980. I want to say thanks, as always to jdelachjr2002 for posting this information each week!

Guessing the Special offerings last weekend (the 2004 AT10 Halloween episode and the conclusion of the Chronological #1 Hits of the '80s) were last-minute adds (I literally didn't know about either show being offered until the Sunday prior). It would then make sense for Premiere to start the Christmas offerings afterwards.

Here are the scheduled shows for this week. "AT40: The '70s" this week presents 12/10/1977 which aired in 2008 and 2009. Six songs debuted this week: "Just The Way You Are" - Billy Joel (#32) "Short People" - Randy Newman (#34) "Turn To Stone" - Electric Light Orchestra (#36) "Dance Dance Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah)" - Chic (#37) "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" - Santa Esmerelda (#38) "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" - Andy Gibb (#39) Six songs fell off this week: "Send In The Clowns" - Judy Collins (#19) "Nobody Does It Better" - Carly Simon (#26) "Help Is On Its Way" - Little River Band (#27) "I Feel Love" - Donna Summer (#28) "Dusic" - Dazz (#34) "Just Remember I Love You" - Firefall (#37) Biggest Mover: "You're In My Heart" - Rod Stewart (#30 to #19) Biggest Dropper: "We Just Disagree" - Dave Mason (#12 to #33) Original extras: "Rhiannon" - Fleetwood Mac "Long Train Runnin'" - The Doobie Brothers "I Can Help" - Billy Swan "Rhiannon" and (I think; explanation coming) "I Can Help" will be optional extras this week. "Long Train Runnin'" remains in the show. Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Rhiannon" - Fleetwood Mac (original AT40 extra) Hour #2: "Stayin' Alive" - The Bee Gees (#65; debuted) Hour #3: "I Can Help" - Billy Swan (original AT40 extra) Now for the explanation part: Premiere's cue sheet, for some reason, had Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" listed as the Hour #3 op extra but that was apparently from last week and since I haven't seen "I Can Help" anywhere else on the cue sheet, I can assume that it is still the Hour #3 op extra. Now "AT40: The '80s" this week presents 12/8/1984 which aired back in 2015. Here is a repost from back then: Five songs debuted this week: "The Boys Of Summer" - Don Henley (#42) "Easy Lover" - Philip Bailey & Phil Collins (#37) "The Belle Of St. Mark" - Sheila E. (#38) "Tender Years" - John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band (#39) "Loverboy" - Billy Ocean (#40) Five songs fell off this week: "Blue Jean" - David Bowie (#22) "Hard Habit To Break" - Chicago (#23) "The War Song" - Culture Club (#30) "Tears" - John Waite (#37) "I Can't Drive 55" - Sammy Hagar (#38) Biggest Mover: "Like A Virgin" - Madonna (#21 to #11) Biggest Dropper (tie): "Purple Rain" - Prince (#4 to #15) "Desert Moon" - Dennis DeYoung (#20 to #31) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Carry On Wayward Son" - Kansas "I Want To Hold Your Hand" - The Beatles Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Operator" - Midnight Star (#71) Hour #2: "Tenderness" - General Public (#63) Hour #3: "I Want To Know What Love Is" - Foreigner (#45; highest debut) Hour #4: "Neutron Dance" - The Pointer Sisters (#54)

Original extras: "Rhiannon" - Fleetwood Mac "Long Train Runnin'" - The Doobie Brothers "I Can Help" - Billy Swan "Rhiannon" and (I think; explanation coming) "I Can Help" will be optional extras this week. Okay. So Premiere is really playing "Free Bird" and not "I Can Help" as the Hour #3 optional extra (with Larry Morgan saying it's an extra from 1974 instead of 1977). Whoever is in charge of producing this show for Premiere has got to pay for this.

Whoever is in charge of producing this show for Premiere has got to pay for this. Toby James Petty is credited as producer of Premiere's 70s and 80s AT40s, though I don't know if this is personally his fault. Regardless, someone sure screwed up this time, the more so because "Free Bird" was listed on the cue sheets, and so it wasn't just somebody accidentally putting the wrong song in the file, and it hasn't been corrected despite having several days to do so. In any case there's no reason to use the same song two weeks in a row even if it had a different intro. There's even a more appropriate Lynyrd Skynyrd song they could have chosen for a December 1977 show, that being "What's Your Name", which was on the Hot 100 by then and eventually reached the top 20. As someone once said, "This is ponderous, man. F**king ponderous."

At least it's not the exact same extra we heard the last two weeks. Speaking of, I still have been unable to get an answer as to why "Free Bird" wound up getting played on the 12/10/1977 show. This better not happen again the next time Premiere airs it.

Update: I'm listening to the full Top 100 on WTOJ and it appears that "Escape" got replaced in Hour #4 of Part Two by the montage of #1 1979 hits.

Time to give this thread a friendly bump! Only one '80s show but two '70s shows so that means the return of two-part weekend previews. I'll start with the '80s first: "AT40: The '80s" this week presents 1/14/1984 which is in its' fourth airing. Here is an earlier repost: Three songs debuted this week: "Yah Mo B There" - Michael McDonald & James Ingram (#35) "Remember The Night" - The Motels (#38) "Send Me An Angel" - Real Life (#40) Three songs fell off the Top 40 this week: "Why Me?" - Irene Cara (#28) "Islands In The Stream" - Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton (#29) "In A Big Country" - Big Country (#35) Biggest Mover: "Let The Music Play" - Shannon (#38 to #26) Biggest Dropper: "Synchronicity II" - The Police (#19 to #37) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Best Of My Love" - The Eagles "Still They Ride" - Journey Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "New Moon On Monday" - Duran Duran (#58; debuted) Hour #2: "Nobody Told Me" - John Lennon (NR) Hour #3: "99 Luftballoons" - Nena (#42) Hour #4: "Jump" - Van Halen (#47; highest debut) Of note: This is the third time in the Larry Morgan voiceover era (started July 2009) that the Hour #2 op extra is different. In 2012, it was Huey Lewis & The News' "I Want A New Drug"; In 2017, Premiere aired a special Wham! medley in memory of the then recently passed George Michael. '70s preview is coming up.
