Charlie Daniel's - Uneasy Rider... Is there any more truth to that song than to the origins of Indian Reservation? Between his early jobs as a session musician and songwriter, Charlie produced albums for a group you may have heard of, The Youngbloods ("Come Together") While working on a live album for them, he went to a bar in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where the group was playing a three-day rock festival. The people around him, he observed, were all "long-haired hippie-type people" afraid to travel around the area for fear of getting their hair clipped and their life threatened. americansongwriter.com/behind-the-song-the-charlie-daniels-band-uneasy-rider/dL

That sounds like Turn the Page
Well you walk into a restaurant all strung out from the road And you feel the eyes upon you as you're shakin' off the cold You pretend it doesn't bother you but you just want to explode Most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can All the same old cliches, "Is it woman, is it man?" And you always seem outnumbered so you don't dare make a stand

Apparently these early 4hr shows had so much filler, they were still having to edit, who knew!? But WTOJ comes to the rescue with 10 minutes never before heard Sunday 9am EDT!

The 08-11-1979 show from WSQL was 3hours 20 minutes The Supersized show from WTOJ was 3 hours 20 minutes. The last station break was at 4:10 so the show was over 4 hours and 10 minutes long. But after deleting all of the commercials I ended up with 3 hours and 20 minutes. I added up all of the commercials and they totaled 50:52.

WWIS is cutting out way too much. It is useless. And a weekend with 4 shows. It means the rest have to go flawless. Sat am 7-10 is WPAC for the 70s B show; WPNC 12-3 for backup. Sun 5-9 WFMX for 80s B show, WLKN 3-7 for backup. I should be able to find another 80s A show around those.

... The "A" show for this week is from 8/16/1975. ... Surprisingly, although Premiere previously aired this show in 2014, this year's airing had some obvious differences, such as voiceover vs. song intro timings (some earlier, some later), stereo instead of monaural jingles, etc. Seems like someone (Ken Martin?) went to a lot of trouble to remaster the entire show since that 2014 broadcast.

I recorded the 1975 show off WPAC but I noticed that the Larry Morgan intros and postros or outros for the extras were distorted. The rest of the show sounded fine. The ones from WPNC were fine and I was able to replace them.

Enough stations, of course, have other specials banked, or can quickly grab them from Premiere by the weekend. We, though, won't get the details till Wednesday at the earliest.

... The "B" show will be from 8/30/1975 (Yes. Premiere is going with 1975 in back-to-back weeks!) ... Last week's was an "A" show; this week's, a "B". Maybe Premiere was trying to motivate affiliates to air the "A" show from 1970 which was recently remastered in stereo. Unfortunately, KOKZ went ahead and opted to air the "B" show from 1975. Somebody there really dislikes music from 1970 and/or assumes their listening audience feels the same way.

Somebody there really dislikes music from 1970 and/or assumes their listening audience feels the same way. WPNC went with 1975 in both instances. And I'm sure they'll air 1979 this weekend. BTW Premiere also has specials for both '70s and '80s. The '70s continue with the reconstructed three-hour Chronological #1 Hits Special (April 1974 - February 1975). Optional extras are Hour #1: "Dancing Machine" - Jackson 5 Hour #2: "You Make Me Feel Brand New" - Stylistics Hour #3: "When Will I See You Again" - Three Degrees And the '80s will be the Top 40 Hits of the '80s (So Far) from 7/4/1987. Optional extras are... Hour #1: "Magic" - Olivia Newton-John (#1 in 1980) Hour #2: "Money For Nothing" - Dire Straits (#1 in 1985) Hour #3: "Stuck With You" - Huey Lewis & the News (#1 in 1986) Hour #4: "Funkytown" - Lipps, Inc. (#1 in 1980)

Here again is a prior repost: Six songs debuted this week: "Disco Duck (Part 1)" - Rick Dees & His Cast of Idiots (#34) "Magic Man" - Heart (#35) "Rock 'n Me" - The Steve Miller Band (#37) "That'll Be The Day" - Linda Ronstadt (#38) "Don't Stop Believin'" - Olivia Newton-John (#39) "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" - Blue Oyster Cult (#40) Six songs fell off the Top 40 this week: "I'm Easy" - Keith Carradine (#32) "Moonlight Feels Right" - Starbuck (#34) "Springtime Mama" - Henry Gross (#37) "Got To Get You Into My Life" - The Beatles (#38) "Last Child" - Aerosmith (#39) "Teddy Bear" - Red Sovine (#40) Biggest Mover: "Lowdown" - Boz Scaggs (#16 to #9) Biggest Dropper: "Kiss And Say Goodbye" - The Manhattans (#11 to #24) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Nadia's Theme (The Young & The Restless)" - Barry DeVorzon & Perry Botkin, Jr. (#78) Hour #2: "Beth" - Kiss (#79; debuted) Hour #3: "Fernando" - Abba (#77; highest debut) Of note: Gary Wright died yesterday and I don't get updated cue sheets from Premiere for some reason but it's likely one of the three optionals could be replaced by "Dream Weaver" (even though Gary Wright is represented in the countdown with his other big hit "Love Is Alive" but that hasn't stopped Premiere in the past). Like I said in the previous post, I so can't wait until November.

(KMCH aired the 'A' show from '72! )

Once again, Premiere is going random. The "B" show for this week is from 9/15/1979. Here is my repost from 2012: Three songs debuted this week: "Dependin' On You" - The Doobie Brothers (#37) "Ain't It A Shame" - Cheap Trick (#38) "Dim All The Lights" - Donna Summer (#39) Three songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Highway Song" - Blackfoot (#34) "You Can't Change That" - Raydio (#37) "Hold On" - Triumph (#38) Biggest Mover: "Spooky" - Atlanta Rhythm Section (#39 to #30) Biggest Dropper: "Suspicions"- Eddie Rabbitt (#13 to #29) Original extras: "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" - Leo Sayer Long Distance Dedications: "Can't Smile Without You" - Barry Manilow "That Lady" - The Isley Brothers Archive extras: "Shining Star" - Earth, Wind & Fire "Before The Next Teardrop Falls" - Freddy Fender "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" - John Denver Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "The Rainbow Connection" - Kermit (Jim Henson) (#88; debuted) Hour #2: "Hold On" - Ian Gomm (#59) Hour #3: "Please Don't Go" - K.C. & The Sunshine Band (#58) Hour #4: "Fins" - Jimmy Buffett (#70) Of note: I received the cue sheet before Jimmy Buffett's sudden death last week.
