This week's 70's chart is from March, 1975. If I had to guess, I'd say it's from March 8th.

Just curious, have their been any reruns (shows that Premiere aired in the past few years) so far in 2010? I remember hearing that some from last year were reruns.

Nope...so far, it's all been newly-run shows. Actually, the last time Premiere aired a re-run was back in late May/June - they aired June 4, 1983 for the third time, followed by shows from '87 and '84 that were originally aired in 2007 (though I think this thread only dates back to late July '07). Peaked at #20 two weeks ago. And LOL at Casey stating that "Jungle Love" was from the band...that was The Time.
- The show moved pretty briskly this week...the second hour started pretty far in, kicking off with #28, and ended with #20. Also, #10 concluded the third hour.
- OK...six months from now, Casey would famously blow up at having to read a "dead dog" dedication after "Dare Me". And yet...I have to wonder how the hell that almost didn't happen with this one! The LDD described a young teenage girl growing up with an abusive father who beat her mother and, quote, "made her do things for him." Her mother finally left with her and her sister when the girl was 10. And it came after, of all songs, "Naughty Naughty"!! What the hell were Watermark thinking back in the day when scheduling that one?
- Speaking of that LDD, Casey withheld all names on this one, as he stated, "for reasons that'll soon be obvious". Call me clueless...but I have no idea why he'd choose to keep the names private on this one. The only thing I can think of is maybe there's a connection between that particular song and the people involved? Maybe Casey just decided to use extra discretion here, but I feel like there's been other similar LDDs with no such confidentiality given.
- #1 on the Album Chart: Make it Big by Wham!
- #1 on the Country Chart: "My Only Love" by the Statler Brothers
- #1 on the Soul Chart: "Missing You"

I think the writer probably requested that her name not be given. After all the subject was about abuse and Casey has read other LDDs dealing with the similar subject (see any LDD for "Luka") and in those cases did not mention the writer's identity. As for the LDD's placement, I'm sure it was possible Casey told his staff about this issue but it was not unknowingly recorded unlike the Dead Dog LDD.
And to be technical it should be ABC-Watermark since ABC is the one distributing AT40 around this time.

no Thanks for Rune Knight? See Page 7. ;) The first show I posted was September 4, 1982 (aired at the end of August in 08), which is still one of the more unique instances of me listening to this show.

This would be its last week in the Top 40, having not spent a single week at any other position. If you find that odd, what do you think of the eventual chart run for "Change of Heart": 38-28-28-21-21-21-22-out.
A handful of songs jumped 7 notches this week, but Pat Benatar beat 'em all with her 8-notch jump. :) Funny how those songs would later outpeak hers.
- "Allentown" was Billy Joel's 17th Top 40 hit. Oddly fitting, isn't it?
Interestingly, the songs in their second week at their peak would not be done spending time at their peaks, while all the songs which had spent more than 2 weeks were at their last weeks there, save for "Shame on the Moon". This of course means a hat trick of sorts for the Stray Cats, in spite of Casey's prediction of "Stray Cat Strut" possibly becoming the 13th song to hit #1 with an animal in the title. ;) (That honor would go to "Karma Chameleon".)
- This would be the second week at #1 for MJ on the Soul chart and the Album chart as well as here. #1 on the Country chart went to "The Rose" by Conway Twitty this week.

Huh, two weeks in a row that Sirius/XM's VJ Top 40 does the same year as AT40, though this was the first one where the weeks actually corresponded.

I had the show saved in a file, just not with notes. So...I figured, no big deal - I cut and paste the show in and just add my notes after. Well...one, two, no THREE computer freezes later - and you can see why I didn't bother including notes until now!
- Last week's #1 was originally not included, however - I've only now been adding those to my posted shows.
- I originally listened to this on WIDL, since I wasn't sure if I'd be able to catch it on WCRZ later on. As it turns out, that was a moot precaution - but only WIDL played the Premiere extras, of course.
- I thought it only fitting that "Footloose" was an original Extra in this show, since we were due for an '84 show around this time, most likely with the song at #1. And what do you know? Just two weeks later, that's what we got! ;)
- #1 on the Country chart: "Small Town Girl" by Steve Wariner
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Lookin' For a New Love"
- #1 on the Dance chart: "Fascinated" by Company B
- #1 on the Album chart: Licensed to Ill by The Beastie Boys
