NOTES: - This week's Station Of The Week: KODM.
- Casey started his intro for "Be My Lady" by saying they were climbing five notches. 36 + 5 = ... 41. Oops! ;) He did get the number right later.
- They used a synth-styled remix for the intro themes to each of the later hours.
- This really felt like a "transition" chart with a number of early '83 songs on the chart and moving up, as well as a number of '82 hits taking big drops down...yet the top of the chart reveals that it was still clearly '82.
- And indeed, with the number of big drops, combined with big jumps and a debut straight into the Top 20, this chart was certainly a little crazy this week. See also: August 16, 1980.
- Premiere made reference to "What About Me?" being re-released in 1989 in its intro.
- Casey pointed out the 33-spot jump from 52 to 19 on the Hot 100 for "Sexual Healing".
- "Midnight Confessions" was the biggest hit for The Grass Roots, who were the subject of a "What Ever Happened To...?" report.
- #1 on the Album chart: Business as Usual by Men at Work
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Sexual Healing"
- #1 on the Country chart: "War is Hell on the Homefront Too" by T.G. Sheppard
P.S. Dear Admins: Would it be possible to have the filter modified so that "f.a.g." doesn't get changed if it's part of a larger, non-slur word, like "F.a.g.e.n." above?

I'm Sorry, Rune. Of course, on the AT40 board it happened to me when I once referenced a certain Vacation movie starring Chevy Chase.

In case anyone is unaware, Charis Music Group has nearly all of the weekly AT40 cue sheets available in PDF format: Charis Music Group - American Top 40 Calendar(http://www.charismusicgroup.com/calendar.htm) This could be helpful for those who are posting the weekly listings (thanks again!).

Being home for Thanksgiving means I don't need those silly streamers this week. ;)
- WIDL had a nice clear signal in the room I was in - normally I can only get that in my car. :)
- For WCRZ, I made use of an old stereo in the family living room. This stereo is quite a relic, with a record player and an 8-track player...the station came in with a bit of static, but otherwise a reasonable signal - without an antenna! They did start 15 minutes late, but did finish properly at 12:10...and did manage to squeeze in "9 to 5".
- Incidentally, a stereo like that is perhaps appropriate for a show that featured no less than three 60s covers ("Tell it Like it Is", "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling", "More Than I Can Say"), the AT40 Archives, and Willie Nelson at #34 to boot!
- And while we're on the subject of age...Casey stated that there were six artists in the countdown who were at least 40 years old, which included the man responsible for the #1 song. Good luck achieving that in this day and age.
- #1 on the Country chart: "If You Ever Change Your Mind" by Crystal Gayle
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Master Blaster"
- #1 on the Album chart: The River by Bruce Springsteen

Here are this weekend's shows:
AT40: The '70s this week features 12/2/1978. As was the example with the 11/3/1979 show last month, only the last three hours of the original four-hour show will be heard:
Four songs debuted this week (one will be an optional extra): "New York Groove" - Ace Frehley (#34) "Every 1's A Winner" - Hot Chocolate (#38) "There'll Never Be" - Switch (#39) "Instant Replay" - Dan Hartman (#40)
Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Everybody Needs Love" - Stephen Bishop (#32) "Kiss You All Over" - Exile (#33) "Whenever I Call You Friend" - Kenny Loggins with Stevie Nicks (#35) "On The Shelf" - Donny & Marie Osmond (#38)
Original extras: "Yesterday" - The Beatles (in Hour #1; won't be played) "Over My Head" - Fleetwood Mac "Garden Party" - Rick Nelson (will be played as an optional extra)
Long Distance Dedication: "So Into You" - Atlanta Rhythm Section
Archive extras: "Just My Imagination" - The Temptations (in Hour #1; won't be played) "Joy To The World" - Three Dog Night "Brown Sugar" - The Rolling Stones
Premiere optional extras: "Instant Replay" - Dan Hartman "Promises" - Eric Clapton (#32; 2nd week in Top 40; peaked at #9) "Garden Party" - Rick Nelson (original AT40 extra)
AT40: The '80s this week features 12/6/1986. If this show sounds familiar, it was played two years ago.
Four songs debuted this week: "Coming Around Again" - Carly Simon (#37) "At This Moment" - Billy Vera & The Beaters (#38) "For Tonight" - Nancy Martinez (#39) "Goldmine" - The Pointer Sisters (#40)
Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Emotion In Motion" - Ric Ocasek (#29) "What About Love" - 'Til Tuesday (#32) "True Colors" - Cyndi Lauper (#34) "Welcome To The Boomtown" - David & David (#37)
Original extras: "(We're Gonna) Rock Around The Clock" - Bill Haley & His Comets
Long Distance Dedications: "That's What Friends Are For" - Dionne Warwick & Friends "I'll Be Over You" - Toto (#24 this week) "Hip To Be Square" - Huey Lewis & The News (#3 this week)
Premiere optional extras: "Change Of Heart" - Cyndi Lauper (#52) "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" - Georgia Satellites (#60) "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" - Samantha Fox (#48) "Stay The Night"- Benjamin Orr (#54)
Interesting that AT40: The '70s has one LDD this week while the '80s version has three.

I had to miss that show due to events on-campus that weekend. No such luck this time. ;)
- Speaking of which, extra "Change of Heart" was missing its second verse, making it sound like it was cut in half.
- Neither the original cue sheet for this show nor the Old Radio Shows website has recognition of the third LDD, "Hip to Be Square". For Old Radio Shows, this is no surprise (see the 2-7-87 show). For ABC/Watermark, on the other hand, this is a rare error on their part!
- This week's Stations of the Week: WMMX and WINC. While I was listening to the show this morning, my laptop froze (though the stream continued to play). I'd thought that I'd lost my notes, but luckily that was not the case. Still, I opted to listen a second time to make sure I didn't miss anything.
- Robin's dedication was to "a sharpshootin', fun-lovin', free-wheelin' country boy" that she'd broken with, and Casey was certainly upbeat while reading the dedication. Well, "a sharpshootin', four-wheelin', fun-lovin' " song her dedication ain't!
- Story behind "Rock Around the Clock" as an Extra: It was the B-side to a song called "Thirteen Women" that failed to chart. Flip the record over...and the rest is history.
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Tasty Love" by Freddie Jackson
- #1 on the Album chart: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Live 75-85
- #1 on the Country chart: "It Ain't Cool to Be Crazy About You" by George Strait

As much as I would love to have that show, I'll be shocked if it happens. I'm guessing that playlist is too radical a departure from what Premiere would think their typical affiliate is willing to tolerate, even on Christmas Day. (However, "The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised." --George F. Will )

Read in Digital Spy Radio Forums: According to a person working at The Coast 103.2 FM in The United Arab Emirates, they take American Top 40 The 80´s show on Fridays : 05.00 to 09.00 CET ( UTC+1), which means this could be the first radio station having the show in the weekend. They have been told there is a Xmas Special show , in 2 parts, dated for December 11th. So that it is probably the content for this weekend or maybe the 2 next weekends for AT40 The 80´s. The station can be heard online : www.1032thecoast.com/ and it is on Reciva web site for adding to your favourites if you have a reciva capable wifi radio.

They must have their own schedule. 12/7/85 was aired last year. This week's 80s show is December 10, 1983. I would imagine that more info from will be forthcoming from jdelachjr shortly. I also know that that 70s Christmas special will not be aired on Christmas weekend, nor will it be aired this year by Premiere - though it wouldn't be a bad idea one of these years. :)

They must have their own schedule. 12/7/85 was aired last year. Yes, they must. They axed the intro : "Premiere Radio Networks proudly...." The rest is the same, with track fillers from the same year.

Someone should check my math, but I want to think this translates to 11 AM on Fridays in Eastern Time (where I live). Is that correct?

(Pretty Young Thing) (10) 19 27 Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride (5) 18 20 Peter Schilling - Major Tom (Coming Home) (14) 17 17 Big Country - In a Big Country (17) 16 19 The Police - Synchronicity II (16)15 08 Huey Lewis & The News - Heart and Soul (8) 14 15 The Rolling Stones - Under Cover of the Night (9) 13 13 Irene Cara - Why Me? She, from Minnesota, dedicates the song to him now as a way of thanking him for bringing her out of the depression she'd felt after divorcing her ex-husband06 04 Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton - Islands in the Stream (1) 05 06 Pat Benatar - Love is a Battlefield (5)04 05 Hall & Oates - Say it Isn't So (2) 03 03 Billy Joel - Uptown Girl (3)Flashback Extra: Re-Flex "The Politics of Dancing"02 01 Lionel Richie - All Night Long (All Night) (1) 01 02 Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson - Say Say Say (1)NOTES: - This Week's Stations of the Week: WINC and WCRZ. How does that work? I was listening to the WINC stream until I had to go run errands late tonight. Enter WCRZ to finish the job. :) (Originally missed extras come courtesy of CKRU.)
- With "Say Say Say" going to the top, this marks the fifth show we've had this year featuring MJ on top. Then add 1-30-88, where he fell from the top (1-23 has aired twice already), 6-25-88, where he was knocking on the door (7-2 can't air), and 11-7-87, where he fell from the top again...and he's had quite a year!
- Incidentally...anyone notice that it was his first five songs to hit #1 in the 1980s that we've heard at #1 this year?
- After #38 "Telefone" was a listener question asking whether any Miss Universe or Miss America had hit the Top 40. The answer given was no, though a second runner-up had done it. Of course, we all know that perhaps the most famous (infamous?) Miss America, Vanessa Williams, would do it barely six months after Casey had left AT40. But, that's not the whole story: Vanessa was the current Miss America at the time of this show!
- As for "the rest of the story": That second runner-up? *shudder* Anita Bryant.
- Score one for Larry Morgan - he gave the German pronounciation when introducing extra "99 Luftballoons". They also played the German version - now if they'd only do that for "Rock Me Amadeus"...
- #1 on the Country chart: "Tell Me a Lie" by Janie Fricke
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Time Will Reveal"
- #1 on the Album chart: Can't Slow Down by Lionel Richie

CFN Europe gives the show on Saturday 19.00 CET, which is 6 hours later for NY, that is on Sundays 01.00 EST. Ummm...same time zone as The Coast, right? If so, then you have the hours calculation backward. 19.00 CET, or 7:00 PM, would be 13.00 EST, or 1:00 PM. I tuned in to the CFN station a few minutes ago and got what sounded like French news talk radio. But, the repeat should be coming up soon at 8:00.

JCaragon---Welcome to the board, and thank you very much for all of the links you've posted; the audio for CFN Europe is terrific.
Casey just mentioned that he'll be counting down the top 100 hits of 1983 over the New Year Weekend.
