Because the b.s. word was used? I have no idea, but it was from an album that lasted a long time on Billboard's album chart (1000 weeks). And there was a source that it plays like the order of the Wizard of Oz movie.

NOTES: - "'Til My Baby Comes Home", an uptempo from Luther, nonetheless received the softer jingle.
- The first LDD is a somewhat odd one in the sense of it being a dedication to Cyndi Lauper that uses someone else's song; on the other hand, the lyrics to "Help!" do fit what Kristin was saying very well (which is not always accomplished so easily in LDDs).
- That second LDD letter was awfully long, taking Casey at least over a minute to read (maybe two!) - so what I've given for it above is obviously a very condensed version of it.
- Unusual for Casey to mention a Dance & Disco #1 that wouldn't hit the Top 40 - he usually only mentioned the ones that were also currently Top 40 hits at that, particularly in 1985, and any week where he left it out usually had a non-Top 40-hit at the summit. For what it's worth, though, he read the week's other Billboard #1s leading into #3 this week, whose song was the previous week's Dance & Disco #1. And speaking of those other Billboard #1 songs...
- #1 on the Soul chart: "You Give Good Love" by Whitney Houston
- #1 on the Country chart: "Radio Heart" by Charly McClain
- #1 on the Album chart: No Jacket Required by Phil Collins
- #1 on the Dance & Disco chart: "Do You Wanna Get Away" by Shannon

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THIS WEEK'S MAY 25, 1974 AT40 EPISODE HEARD ON AT40: THE 70's THIS SUNDAY MORNING ON WLS 94.7 FM CHICAGO:
* SONG OF NOTE: On this AT40 chart entering at #39 (spending only 1 week in the Top 40, of course) was the re-release of the famous 1955 #1 song that would be the song to start off the Rock 'n Roll era: "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets (at the time the original theme song to the sitcom "Happy Days" for the first 2 seasons). * BY THE NUMBERS: There are 4 Canadian acts on this AT40 chart, and 2 acts on this AT40 chart - Joni Mitchell and Maria Mualdar - were both one time folk singers. * DID YOU KNOW: 1) The cover version of "Save The Last Dance For Me" by the DeFranco Family was originally done by the Drifters? 2) Anne Murray's "You Won't See Me" became the 5th. Beatles song that never made the Top 40 to be covered by another artist? (The others: "You Got To Hide Your Love Away", "Michelle", "Birthday", and "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"; Later in the year came another non Top 40 Beatles cover done by Elton John called "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"; and for honorable mention Casey mentioned a Lennon/McCartney written song that wasn't done by the Beatles at all: The #1 song by Peter and Gordon called "A World Without Love") 3) Up to 1974, James Brown has become the artist with the most chart hits - 83 - without hitting #1 (and he would continue this trend even with he 1986 brief "Living in America" comeback)? 4) Olivia Newton-John was born in Wales, raised in Australia, and now lives in London? 5) William DeVaughn got his big break by responding to a March 3, 1973 Billboard magazine TALENT WANTED classified ad? 6) The group MFSB featured members of a 1960's group Cliff Nobles and Co. who made the Top 40 in 1968 with the instrumental "The Horse"? 7) Elton John's first two chart hits in 1970 were the not reaching the Top 40 song "Border Song" and his first Top 40 entry called "Your Song"? 8) The 'O Jay's were formed in McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio? 9) Cat Stevens once had TUBLECOSIOUS for about 2 years? 10) Up to 1974, there have been 370 #1 songs in the Rock Era? 11) Ray Stevens, who was #1 on this AT40 chart with "The Streak" is known as "The Georgia Shiek"? * BLOOPER: Casey actidentally called Mac Davis' "One Hell Of A Woman" as the 3rd. debut of the week instead of the 4th. debut of the week. * ALSO: 1) There were no question letters in this episode, 2) There was a kept intact plug for the upcoming July 1974 AT40 special of the Top artists of the 1970's so far, 3) Casey did a brief stretch story to tie in with Marvin Hamilisch's "The Entertainer" about Scott Joplin (who wrote that "Entertainer" piece) releasing the first million selling song to be sold via sheet music rather than record called "Maple Leaf Rag", 4) WLS 94.7 FM Chicago played the first 2 AT40 OPTIONAL EXTRAS of the week of "La Grange" by ZZ Top (A song that wouldn't make the Billboard Top 40 reaches, but was on the June 29, 1974 AT40 predicted chart episode at #33 thanks to Casey's conflict with going to Hawaii to work on being a guest star on a "Hawaii Five-O" episode since this was done along with the Top Artists of the 1970's special in advance before his Hawaii vacation, with the July 13, 1974 AT40 show including a brief taped introduction by Casey but guest hosted by Humble Harv Miller, the "La Grange" song, according to Larry Morgan, is called a BROTHEL - why is that?) and "Haven't Got Time For The Pain" by Carly Simon, 5) I even like Casey called Al Green as "Al 'Memphis' Green".

- With Casey reminding us of each year the song came out and giving its peak position, I elected to include that info on the listing.
- Casey told the story of how "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" was a storybook girl that John's son Julian was fascinated with as a kid.
- "Please Please Me" was their first #1 hit in their homeland, England.
- The medley of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band/With a Little Help From My Friends" was from the album that was said to have won over the last remaining Beatles nay-sayers.
- "Michelle" was spotlighted for its mostly French lyrics.
- "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" was picked as an album cut (and for Paul writing it and John hating it), but it was in fact released in 1976 - though failing to even make The 40.
- "Come Together"/"Something" was a double A-side release.
- Casey told a story of how John was recalling the places he'd been for "In My Life".
- Casey introed "Help!" as #8, but did get it right on the outro.
- "I Am the Walrus" is also the flip-side (in this case the B-side) to "Hello, Goodbye".
- There was no drumroll for #1, and there were no Premiere credits at the end, either.

"AT40: The '80s" this week presents 6/4/1988 Two songs debuted this week: "Lost In You" - Rod Stewart (#38) "Tall Cool One" - Robert Plant (#40) Two songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" - Whitney Houston (#33) "Nighttime" - Pretty Poison (#40) Biggest Mover: "The Flame" - Cheap Trick (#29 to #19) Biggest Dropper: "Electric Blue" - Icehouse (#12 to #28) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Mandolin Rain" - Bruce Hornsby & The Range Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Baby I Love Your Way/Free Bird" - Will To Power (hit #1 in December 1988) Hour #2: "The Promise" - When In Rome (hit #11 in December 1988) Hour #3: "Desire" - U2 (hit #3 in November 1988) Hour #4: "Smooth Criminal" - Michael Jackson (last Top 40 hit from "Bad" album; hit #7 in January 1989) What are the chances two months from now the first weekend in August 2013 that Premiere's AT40: The 80's series will replay (even if it has done before) the final original version AT40 episode hosted by Casey Kasem before being replaced by Shadoe Stevens from August 6, 1988? This would be at the time it would be 25 years to the August date since Casey Kasem's final original version AT40 aired? And I bet the next 1988 show for the year will contain more late 1988-1989 optional extra choices. How about for a 1988 show optional extra (even if Premire airs August 6, 1988) at least ome song from 1988-1989 that missed the Shadoe Stevens AT40 reaches like maybe... * "You Came" by Kim Wilde * "Handle With Care" by Traveling Wilburys * "Boy I've Been Told" by Sa-Fire * "As Long As You Follow" by Fleetwood Mac * "It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" by Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston * "The Way To Your Heart" by Soulsister * "Forget Me Not" by Bad English * "Fascination Street" by The Cure

Starr - I Still Believe (13) 17 06 The Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind (4) 16 20 Cher - We All Sleep Alone (14) 15 19 Prince - Alphabet St. (8) 14 18 Bruce Hornsby & The Range - The Valley Road (5) 13 09 White Lion - Wait (8) 12 17 Michael Jackson - Dirty Diana (1) 11 13 Belinda Carlisle - Circle in the Sand (7) 10 03 Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine - Anything For You (1) Flashback Extra: U2 "Desire"09 13 The Jets - Make it Real (4) 08 05 Foreigner - I Don't Want to Live Without You (5) 07 15 Debbie Gibson - Foolish Beat (1) 06 10 Brenda Russell featuring Joe Esposito - Piano in the Dark (6) LDD: Bruce Hornsby & The Range "Mandolin Rain" from Dawn in Seattle, WA to John in Santa Anna, CA, who she met in the summer of '86 when she and a friend moved there from Seattle - they had a summer romance, but when her money ran out, she, scared, moved back to Seattle. He visited her two months later, but an argument about their future caused him to spend the later part of his trip alone, and they haven't spoken since.05 08 Rick Astley - Together Forever (1) 04 07 Hall & Oates - Everything Your Heart Desires (3) 03 04 Samantha Fox - Naughty Girls (Need Love Too) (3)Flashback Extra: Michael Jackson "Smooth Criminal"02 02 Johnny Hates Jazz - Shattered Dreams (2) 01 01 George Michael - One More Try (1)And if we add two debuts, we subtract two droppers. The ones that fall out are: "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" by Whitney Houston (LW: 33), and "Nighttime" by Pretty Poison (LW: 40). NOTES: - Casey had a..."classical"-voiced teaser after #30 for the classical music story coming up.
- "Nite and Day" received the softer jingle.
- Larry Morgan could have pointed out that "The Promise" was headed toward #1 on the Dance chart; it would reach the summit the very next week. Thus, of the four "1988/89" extras this week, "The Promise" is the one that's actually somewhat current as a single as of this show.
- They played the English-Spanish version of "Anything For You" this week.
- Get a load of that Top 10 - the bottom half are all ballads, and #11 "Circle in the Sand" isn't much faster. That's very reminiscent of 1-17-87, which also had five consecutive ballads and a sixth not much faster. The difference? This time there's a rocking Extra from Premiere ("Desire") to break them up a bit. Oh, and they were in the second hour on the '87 show (though oddly enough, both times the group's last song led into a LDD).
- Casey did not give the week's date in closing - unless that was an accident edit by Premiere, as he seemed to have a rushed start to his closing.
- #1 on the Album chart: Faith by George Michael
- #1 on the Black Singles chart: "Just Got Paid" by Johnny Kemp
- #1 on the Dance chart: "Divine Emotions" by Narada
- #1 on the Country chart: "What She Is" by Earl Thomas Conley

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THIS WEEKEND'S AT40: THE 70'S EPISODE OF THE JUNE 5, 1976 AT40 EPISODE I HEARD ON WLS 94.7 FM CHICAGO THIS SUNDAY MORNING:
* BY THE NUMBERS: This AT40 chart had 8 British acts and 14 first time acts. * DID YOU KNOW: 1) The Trammps are a 10 man R&B group from Philadelphia? 2) The Seals and Crofts song "Get Closer" features guest vocals by session singer Carolyn Willis? 3) The Starland Vocal Band comes from Washington, D.C.? 4) Peter Frampton was a former member of Humble Pie? 5) The group Electric Light Orchestra features members of the British group The Move and members of the London Symphony Orchestra? 6) The Brothers Johnson was originally a warm up opening act group for acts like The Supremes? 7) American singer Gary Wright was once a member the British group Spooky Tooth? 8) Andrea True at age 15 was a regular on a local WLAC TV Nashville TV show called "Teen Beat"? 9) Up to 1976 The Rolling Stones have been the only recording act to have a top 10 album every year and continue to do so in years to come? 10) Diana Ross, at #1 on the AT40 chart with "Love Hangover", was originally a street corner singer and even in 1973 was the first American to be on a tour of Japan with the Emperor and Empress of Japan? * QUESTION LETTER: Regarding if any British acts have hit #1 before the Beatles ever did: There were two in 1962-1963 - Mr. Acker Bilk with "Stranger on the Shore" and the Tornadoes with "Telstar". * DROP PIECES: There were 3 in this episode: 1) A drop piece of Doris Troy's "Just One Look" was played in a story Casey told about whatever became of Doris Troy, 2) A drop piece of the original Coasters "Young Blood" was played to tie in with the Bad Company remake, and 3) A drop piece of the 1960's Mamas and Papas bio song "Creeque Alley" was played to tie into a mentioning of John Sebastian in the song among the few 1960's folk and rock acts mentioned in that song. * BLOOPERS: 1) Casey mentioned the Manhattans' "Kiss and Say Goodbye" was their first top 40 hit when it was their second top 40 hit! 2) Casey also mentions Barry Manilow's "Trying To Get The Feeling Again" was Barry's fourth top 40 hit when it was his 5th. top 40 hit! * ALSO: 1) WLS 94.7 FM played the optional extras of "Making Our Dreams Come True" by Cyndi Greco (Theme from Laverne and Shirley) and the original AT40 Extra that was demoted to Optional Extra status of Gerry and the Pacemakers' "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying", 2) There were plugs intact for the July 4, 1976 AT40 Top 40 Fourth of July #1 hits of the past 40 Fourth of July years Bicentennial related special.

* "You Came" by Kim Wilde * "Handle With Care" by Traveling Wilburys * "Boy I've Been Told" by Sa-Fire * "As Long As You Follow" by Fleetwood Mac * "It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" by Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston * "The Way To Your Heart" by Soulsister * "Forget Me Not" by Bad English * "Fascination Street" by The Cure The 8-6-88 show is on the schedule for the weekend of Aug 3-4

2) There were plugs intact for the July 4, 1974 AT40 Top 40 Fourth of July #1 hits of the past 40 Fourth of July years Bicentennial related special. And ironically that's a show that didn't air in Chicago as AT40 expert Pete Battistini noted. According to Pete, WDHF began editing out Casey's plugs for the 7/4 special (presumably they didn't want to offend their audience by having Casey playing old-fogey type songs at the beginning of the show) and the station purposely did not air the 6/26 show that weekend so it could air the weekend of the 7/4 special.

I learned next weekend's AT40, The 70's episode is one that was originally aired almost 2 years ago, but I didn't hear all of it since I was on Father's Day vacation that weekend, and I may have to do a full throttle thoughts on it anyway next weekend...

Here are this weekend's shows. This weekend's '70s show is a repeat from 2011 so I'll repost what I wrote about then and I'll write info for this weekend's '80s show below. THIS IS A SPECIAL FULL THROTTLE THOUGHT THREAD ON THE AT40: THE 70'S AIRING OF THE JUNE 17, 1978 AT40 EPISODE THAT WAS FIRST BROADCAST IN 2011 OVER FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND 2011 AND REBROADCAST THIS WEEKEND THOUGH WHEN I WAS ON VACATION THAT FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND I ONLY TUNED TO IT BRIEFLY ON SUNNY 105.9 ORLANDO BUT NEVER GAVE THOUGHTS ALTHOUGH I HEARD IT IN FULL THIS MORNING ON WLS 94.7 FM CHICAGO:
* For the first time in many months even in the "Saturday Night Fever" era there is no song by the Bee Gees on this AT40 chart, despite 3 songs co-written by The Bee Gees on the chart (Including the lead off songs at #40 - "Warm Ride" by Rare Earth and at #39 - "Grease" by Frankie Valli. Even the #1 song "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb (no offense to 1988-1994 AT40 host Shadoe Stevens!) was Bee Gees written-related! * Do you think "Follow You Follow Me", "Almost Summer", and/or "Oh What a Night For Dancing" are original Watermark AT40 edits or Premiere edits? * This AT40 chart 14 foreign acts, 9 British acts, and 2 jazz artists - George Benson and Chuck "Feels So Good" Margione - back to back. * The question letters - 3 in this episode - involved the act with the most songs in the top 10 and Hot 100 at the same time (Beatles on both counts!), the family group with 1 parent and many children with the biggest hits (The Cowsills, The Staple Singers, and The Partridge Family), and the biggest remakes of prior hits (Ventures "Walk Don't Run" and Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do", would Elton John's "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me", Eric Clapton's "Layla", and Four Seasons' "December 1963 (Oh What a Night)" later join the list?). * I even knew Sweet originally was bubble gum rock. * Two bloopers - Casey called Steely Dan's "Deacon Blue" as "Deacon Blues", and Casey mentioned Sweet had 8 US hits when Sweet had 5 US Top 40 hits! * There were also plugs intact for the July 4, 1978 weekend AT40 Top 40 Acts of the 70's So Far episode (I heard this special countdown on AT40: The 70's in 2011, doubtful it will get played again this year unless AT40: The 70's and maybe AT40: The 80's have other special countdowns planned for the 2013 July 4th. weekend). And WLS 94.7 FM played the optional extras of "Stay" by Jackson Browne and "Just What I Needed" by the Cars.
Hopefully next weekend will be normal, although rumor has it next weekend's AT40: The 70's will be a 2 show offering for the demographic stations again with one a 3 hour show from the 1971-1972 era and the other a 4 hour show from 1979 with first hour optional.

Since original American Country Countdown host Don Bowman recently passed away on June 5, 2013; will Premiere ever play on AT40: The 70's the June 16, 1973 AT40 episode where Don Bowman guest hosted for Casey Kasem in memory of him like last year after Dick Clark died Premiere played the March 1972 AT40 episode where Dick Clark guest hosted for Casey Kasem.

I doubt it. Bowman was not as well known as Dick Clark was.

Hopefully next weekend will be normal, although rumor has it next weekend's AT40: The 70's will be a 2 show offering for the demographic stations again with one a 3 hour show from the 1971-1972 era and the other a 4 hour show from 1979 with first hour optional. It's true and because of that, my weekly preview will be a two-part post. As always, the '80s come first. "AT40: The '80s" this week features 6/12/1982 Three songs debuted this week: "Still They Ride" - Journey (#34) "After The Glitter Fades" - Stevie Nicks (#37) "Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do" - Huey Lewis & The News (#40) Three songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Still In Saigon" - The Charlie Daniels Band (#22) "My Girl" - Donnie Iris (#25) "Wake Up Little Susie" - Simon & Garfunkel (#27) Biggest Mover: "Tainted Love" - Soft Cell (#29 to #21) Biggest Dropper: "'65 Love Affair" - Paul Davis (#9 to #18) Original extras: "Listen To The Music" - The Doobie Brothers "The Rubberband Man" - The Spinners I believe the latter was played unteased as their biggest hit ever although the Spinners did hit #1 with Dionne Warwick(e) singing "Then Came You". Long Distance Dedications: "Being With You" - Smokey Robinson "I've Never Been To Me" - Charlene (at #11 this week) Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "I Know What Boys Like" - The Waitresses (which fell from #62 to #96 this week) Hour #2: "Abracadabra" - The Steve Miller Band (#50) Hour #3: "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" - Chicago (#65) Hour #4: "Paperlate" - Genesis (#80) This week's '70s preview is coming soon.

Now on to this weekend's '70s preview. It's a two-show week and we start with this week's "A" show which is from 6/16/1979 with the four-hour version played on some stations. Five songs debuted this week: "Days Gone Down" - Gerry Rafferty (#30) "Heart Of The Night" - Poco (#31) "I Was Made For Lovin' You" - Kiss (#35) "Do It Or Die" - Atlanta Rhythm Section (#39) "Don't Ever Wanna' Lose You" - New England (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Love Is The Answer" - England Dan & John Ford Coley (#26) "If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Want To Be Right)" - Barbara Mandrell (#31) "It Must Be Love" - Alton McClain & Destiny (#32) "Little Bit Of Soap" - Nigel Olsson (#34) "Good Timin'" - The Beach Boys (#40) Biggest Mover: "Bad Girls" - Donna Summer (#28 to #11) Biggest Dropper: "Deeper Than The Night" - Olivia Newton-John (#11 to #29) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "I Will Still Love You" - Stonebolt "We Are The Champions" - Queen Archive extras "Sundown" - Gordon Lightfoot "Rock The Boat" - The Hues Corporation "Rock Your Baby" - George McCrae The Gordon Lightfoot and Hues Corporation extras will be played in the show (the former depending if your station airs all four hours of course). "Rock Your Baby" will be played as an optional extra. Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "Sad Eyes" - Robert John (#51) Hour #2: "Good Times" - Chic (#72; debuted) Hour #3: "Rock Your Baby" - George McCrae (original AT40 Archive extra) Hour #4: "Getting Closer" - Wings (#64; highest debut) This week's "B" show is from 6/12/1971. Posted below is my original preview from 2010 with the Biggest mover/dropper added. Four songs debuted this week: "Don't Pull Your Love" - Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds (#30) "Never Can Say Goodbye" - Isaac Hayes (#33) "Albert Flasher" - Guess Who (#34) "Puppet Man" - Tom Jones (#37) Four songs fell off this week: "Stay Awhile" - The Bells (#24) "Timothy" - The Buoys (#32) "I Love You For All Seasons" - The Fuzz (#33) "I Don't Blame You At All" - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles (#38) Biggest Mover (tie): "Indian Reservation" - The Raiders (#25 to #11) "Funky Nassau" - The Beginning of the End (#40 to #26) Biggest Dropper (another tie): "Put Your Hand In The Hand" - Ocean (#12 to #24) "(For God's Sake) Give More Power To The People" - Chi-Lites (#26 to #38) Original extras: "Paperback Writer" - The Beatles "Moody River" - Pat Boone "The Wayward Wind" - Gogi Grant "The Wayward Wind" has been kept in the broadcast. The other two songs listed above will be played as optional extras. Personally, I wonder why "Paperback Writer" was not kept in the show and "The Wayward Wind" was not an optional extra since the Beatles song has been played more recurrently than Gogi Grant (let alone Pat Boone). Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Paperback Writer" - The Beatles (original AT40 extra) Hour #2: "Moody River" - Pat Boone (original At40 extra) Hour #3: "Mr. Big Stuff" - Jean Knight (#48)

Big Stuff" - Jean Knight (#48) We'll see what WLS 94.7 FM Chicago plays this Sunday morning, but I bet the station always goes for the later year.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THIS WEEKS AT40: THE 70'S EPISODE I HEARD ON WLS 94.7 FM CHICAGO THIS SUNDAY MORNING:
* As always, WLS 94.7 FM chose the later year of the June 16, 1979 AT40 episode but starting with hour #2 (First song played - "Does Your Mother Know" by ABBA at #33). * BY THE NUMBERS: There are 10 foreign acts on this AT40 chart. * DID YOU KNOW: 1) Ray Parker Jr. of the group Raydio once worked with some artists like the Temptations and Boz Scaggs? 2) Since as a child Olivia Newton John was tough to have animals mistreated (and I bet she later learned Bob Barker's/Drew Carey's advice to have pets spayed and neutered!) and even temporary cancelled a concert tour in Japan to protest dolphins? 3) Dr. Hook pulled tricks and stunts in their concerts, like portraying an opening act named Charlie and the Clumps who once got booed on stage and even at the end the Dr. Hook lead singer proved it was a joke? 4) American group Cheap Trick was famous in Japan before making it big in the USA? 5) David "Makin' It" Naughton appeared in TV commercials for Dr. Pepper and Jello? 6) At the 1979 time Rex Smith was in a touring production of the Broadway musical Grease? 7) Herb Fame of Peaches and Herb once took $250 of his wife's life savings and had to walk on foot to a recording studio in New York City for a music demo? 7) Anita Ward was a teacher at a school in Memphis, Tennessee before doing a music career? * QUESTION LETTERS: 1) Regarding the most top 10 hits by an act in the rock era without hitting #1 - Creedence Clearwater Revival with 9 top 10 hits without hitting #1 at all! (Would Bruce Springsteen later break this record?) 2) Regarding if any sports athletes made the top 40. None, but Casey made mention of football player Terry Bradshaw making the Country chart several times, and even played a drop piece of a 1957 song that never made the Top 40 by Teresa Brewer featuring baseball player Mickey Mantle called "I Love Mickey" which only made #87 (Honorable mention several years from 1979: In early 1986 The then Super Bowl XX champion Chicago Bears as the Chicago Bears Shuffling Crew missed the top 40 territory by one spot peeking at #41 with "Superbowl Shuffle"). * ALSO: I heard the Long Distance Dedication of "We Are The Champions" by Queen (sent in by a captain of a swim team!) and the 2 AT40 1974 Archives songs of "Rock the Boat" by Hues Corporation and the demoted to OPTIONAL EXTRA status of "Rock Your Baby" by George McCrae.

* QUESTION LETTERS: 1) Regarding the most top 10 hits by an act in the rock era without hitting #1 - Creedence Clearwater Revival with 9 top 10 hits without hitting #1 at all! (Would Bruce Springsteen later break this record?) He did. "Brilliant Disguise" helped set the record in 1987. That alone is impressive given that he didn't have a Top 10 hit until 1980 and he wouldn't have another until 1984.

I learned that next weekend's AT40: The 70's shows will be another two show offering with one that was heard in 2011.
Is Premiere still going to offer 1970-1972 AT40 episodes as A shows for demographic oldies stations at the same time offering 1973-1979 AT40 episodes as single shows or B shows until Premiere decides to nix the 1970-1972 episodes?

"AT40: The '80s this week presents 6/21/1986 Four songs debuted this week: "Mad About You" - Belinda Carlisle (#31) "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money) - Pet Shop Boys (#33) "Modern Woman" - Billy Joel (#38) "Glory Of Love" - Peter Cetera (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "What Have You Done For Me Lately" - Janet Jackson (#30) "West End Girls" - Pet Shop Boys (#31) "Bad Boy" - Miami Sound Machine (#32) "The Love Parade" - The Dream Academy (#36) Biggest Mover (tie): "Nasty" - Janet Jackson (#24 to #14) "Invisible Touch" - Genesis (#27 to #17) Biggest Dropper: "Move Away" - Culture Club (#18 to #39) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)" - Phil Collins "She's Got A Way" - Billy Joel "The Long And Winding Road" - The Beatles Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Words Get In The Way" - Miami Sound Machine (#79) Hour #2: "Baby Love" - Regina (#88; debuted) Hour #3: "Higher Love" - Steve Winwood (#62) Hour #4: "Take My Breath Away" - Berlin (#96; debuted) The '70s preview is coming up. Don't worry. I won't make like Miami Heat fans and leave early. :)
