- Station of the Week: WODC - WODC aired this program on a Saturday night (taking advantage of Ohio State's off week so we know Urban Meyer is spending time with his family :))). Other than a mechanical error after airing "Sister Golden Hair" resulting in nearly repeating said song entirely, the show was flawless. - Casey mentioned Jennifer Warnes' hit debuted in the Top 40 after 13 weeks in the Hot 100. By comparison, 13 songs in this week's chart have had equal or longer runs in the Hot 100 (in order, the Knack, the Charlie Daniels Band, Maxine Nightengale, Robert John, Dionne Warwick, Chic, Bonnie Pointer, Patrick Hernandez, Barbra Streisand, GQ, the Cars, Night and Elton John) - In fact, both "Sad Eyes" and "Mama Can't Buy You Love" were in the Top 40 the same week Jennifer Warnes debuted in the Hot 100 (6/30/1979) - This is the second 1979 show this year in which Paul McCartney & Wings have doubled up in the form of having a song in the chart and have a past #1 song played as an Archive extra (see 3/31/1979) - #1 Soul: Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough - #1 Country: "Just Good Ole Boys" - Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley - #1 Disco: "Come To Me" - France Joli - #1 Album: In Through The Out Door - Led Zeppelin

Hour #4: "True Blue" - Madonna (NR) Worth noting: It debuted straight in at #40 the following week. So this is sort of like when "Causing a Commotion" was featured; it obviously couldn't be an extra on its debut week.

This was when the TOP 40 actually still sounded good. 40 songs= all great- all real artists and mucicians. Now adays I have trouble picking out 10 good songs outta the top 40. Today's youth really screwed up the TOP 40.

There will be a New Orleans Saints pregame show this Sunday at 10 am (followed by the actual Saints game itself). Therefore, 105.1 The River (WJDX-FM) will air American Top 40: The '80s at a special time: 5 am to 9 am. (The River usually airs American Top 40: The '80s Sundays, from 8 am to 12 pm [Central Time].)

here's the 80s chart from 1986 40: I'LL BE OVER YOU - TOTO (11) 39: IN YOUR EYES - PETER GABRIEL (26) 38: TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT - EDDIE MONEY (4) ... Sometimes when I use the forum search to find a chart listing (for instance, using a song title), when I find the chart I need, only the year is mentioned (like this one). Then, to determine the original show date, I might have to find the same message in the context of the thread. So, if I may ask a small favor: When posting the listings, if you know the original show date (in this case, September 27, 1986), please consider including it. Nevertheless, my sincere thanks to you and the others for faithfully posting these every week!

Hopefully the Saints defense will be ready to face Mike Glennon as opposed to Tony Romo (really?!? Romo?!?). Fortunately, 105.1 The River will air AT40: The '80s this Sunday at its usual time: 8 am to 12 pm. Of course this is because the Saints have their bye week this week. For future reference, the Saints have another early afternoon game on 10/19 (@ Detroit) but the next game is a Sunday Night game (vs. Green Bay). Weekend preview coming up.

Time for this weekend's AT40 preview. Only one show for the '70s but it's a repeat episode from 10/9/1976 (which aired back in 2011). Here's what I posted from then. Four songs debuted this week: "Muskrat Love" - Captain & Tennille (#32) "Just To Be Close To You" - The Commodores (#37) "Do You Feel Like We Do" - Peter Frampton (#39) "This One's For You" - Barry Manilow (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 that week: "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" - Lou Rawls (#21) "You Should Be Dancing" - The Bee Gees (#22) "Who'd She Coo" - The Ohio Players (#27) "Sunrise" - Eric Carmen (#34) Biggest Mover: "Love So Right" - The Bee Gees (#32 to #23) Biggest Dropper: "Summer" - War (#7 to #25) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras: "More Than A Feeling" - Boston (#45) "I Never Cry" - Alice Cooper (#65) "You Don't Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show)" - Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr. (#48) Now for "AT40: The '80s" which is new and is from 10/16/1982. Four songs debuted this week: "American Heartbeat" - Survivor (#34) "Steppin' Out" - Joe Jackson (#35) "Pressure" - Billy Joel (#37) "Muscles" - Diana Ross (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Do You Wanna Touch Me" - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts (#20) "Think I'm In Love" - Eddie Money (#25) "Make Believe" - Toto (#30) "You Keep Runnin' Away" - .38 Special (#38) Biggest Mover (tie): "Heartlight" - Neil Diamond (#27 to #18) "Nobody" - Sylvia (#34 to #25) Biggest Dropper: "Hurts So Good" - John Cougar (Mellencamp) (#15 to #39) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Together" - Tierra "Make It With You" - Bread Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Get Closer" - Linda Ronstadt (#47) Hour #2: "Shadows Of The Night" - Pat Benatar (#69; debuted) Hour #3: "Rock The Casbah" - The Clash (#64) Hour #4: "Maneater" - Daryl Hall & John Oates (#65; highest debut)

Now for "AT40: The '80s" which is new and is from 10/16/1982. Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Get Closer" - Linda Ronstadt (#47) Hour #2: "Shadows Of The Night" - Pat Benatar (#69; debuted) Hour #3: "Rock The Casbah" - The Clash (#64) Hour #4: "Maneater" - Daryl Hall & John Oates (#65; highest debut) A little oddity for this show. Although the hour 1 extra was introduced as "Get Closer" by Linda Ronstadt, the title track from her 1982 album, the track actually played was "Trouble Again" from Linda Ronstadt's 1989 album "Cry Like A Rainstorm, Howl Like The Wind" A few stations this weekend skipped the hour 1 extra probably because of this.

Although the hour 1 extra was introduced as "Get Closer" by Linda Ronstadt, the title track from her 1982 album, the track actually played was "Trouble Again" from Linda Ronstadt's 1989 album "Cry Like A Rainstorm, Howl Like The Wind"A few stations this weekend skipped the hour 1 extra probably because of this. I thought that sounded weird. Here's the actual version of Get Closer.

Supremes Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong do not sing backup on the song.
- What happened to "Holiday" in 1987? I was checking the song's peak - not expecting that they were in fact peaking this week! Chart run: 36-29-31-32-off.
- "Heaven" had its music break cut in half.
- "Time of My Life" was missing the second verse (which annoyed me, because whenever WMJO plays the song, they cut out during the chorus after the second verse. I hate that edit!)
Other than at least one of extras WILL change this time ("Touch of Grey", which WCRZ didn't play), who knows how it'll turn out this time? Oh and incidentally, it aired this same weekend/date back in '08. Same as with 4/21/84, earlier this year.

Now it's time for this weekend's preview of "AT40: The '70s" and it's a two-show week (possibly the last such week of the year with the Holiday season approaching)

The "B" show this week is from 10/14/1978. The show first aired back in 2007 but unlike back then (when Premiere squeezed in all 40 songs within a three-hour window), the whole four hours will be played (Hour #1 is still optional).
Three songs debuted this week: "I Just Wanna Stop" - Gino Vanelli (#29) "Sharing The Night Together" - Dr. Hook (#37) "London Town" - Paul McCartney & Wings (#39)
