As mentioned before, it's another two-show week for the '80s so once again for an unprecedented fifth consecutive week, my weekend preview will be a two-parter (Why do I have the feeling I'm going to have to have two-part previews EVERY weekend until the annual Casey Holiday Specials are offered in November?!?!?). Normally, I preview the '70s first, then the '80s but I'm calling an audible and will preview the regular '80s shows first, then '70s as you will find out. The "A" show for this week is from 3/1/1986. Five songs debuted this week: "Goodbye Is Forever" - Arcadia (#36) "Needles And Pins" - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with Stevie Nicks (#37) "No Easy Way Out" - Robert Tepper (#38) "Tender Love" - Force MDs (#39) "Calling America" - Electric Light Orchestra (#40) Five songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Spies Like Us" - Paul McCartney (#30) "Talk To Me" - Stevie Nicks (#31) "Say You, Say Me" - Lionel Richie (#32) "Go Home" - Stevie Wonder (#36) "Walk Of Life" - Dire Straits (#37) Biggest Mover: "Rock Me Amadeus" - Falco (#40 to #29) Biggest Dropper: "The Sun Always Shines On T.V." - A-Ha (#20 to #32) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Memory" - Barry Manilow "Empty Garden" - Elton John Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "So Far Away" - Dire Straits (#66; highest debut) Hour #2: "West End Girls" - Pet Shop Boys (#71; debuted) Hour #3: "Where Are You Now?" - Synch (#95; debuted) Hour #4: "Addicted To Love" - Robert Palmer (#46) The "B" show from this week is from 3/3/1984. This show aired previously in 2009 and in 2014. Here is my preview from the latter year. Four songs debuted this week: "Come Back And Stay" - Paul Young (#36) "Radio Ga-Ga" - Queen (#38) "Girls" - Dwight Twilley (#39) "Miss Me Blind" - Culture Club (#40; Hot 100 Debut) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Pink Houses" - John Cougar Mellencamp (#26) "Break My Stride" - Matthew Wilder (#29) "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" - Elton John (#32) "So Bad" - Paul McCartney (#37) Biggest Mover (three-way tie): "Footloose" - Kenny Loggins (#22 to #16) "Automatic" - The Pointer Sisters (#27 to #21) "Adult Education" - Daryl Hall & John Oates (#31 to #25) Biggest Dropper: "Middle Of The Road" - The Pretenders (#24 to #37) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "Thank You For Being A Friend" - Andrew Gold "Send In The Clowns" - Judy Collins Premiere optional extras: Hour #1: "Don't Answer Me" - Alan Parsons Project (#70; debuted) Hour #2: "They Don't Know" - Tracey Ullman (#48) Hour #3: "Leave It" - Yes (#60; debuted) Hour #4: "A Fine Fine Day" - Tony Carey (#77; debuted) Coming Up: I'll preview the lone '70s offering and a very special AT40.

Recently this week there was a new oldies Chicago radio station called METV FM 87.7, I wonder if it would pick up in the months to come the American Top 40 The 1970's show for the Chicago radio market since it hasn't been carried on any radio station in Chicago (nor the American Top 40 The 1980's show) since WLS 94.7 FM Chicago dropped the show in November 2013.

There was a bit of a snafu at the beginning though, with the first segment of the 86 show accidentally played before the show started.
- There isn't a reason given for Casey's absence this week, only that he asked Gary to sit in for him, and the cue sheet has just the show's playlist.
- Gary had that relaxed announcer voice, which comes through in great effect in this week's show. :)
- Gary states at the beginning that there were five new songs in this week's survey. Looks like he missed one. ;)
- Gary points out that "Private Eyes" jumped from 54 to 34 this week (thus debuting here in the process).
- At first thought, I wondered if that first divorce LDD should have followed, of all songs, "Super Freak". Maybe the requested song being "No More Tears" lessened the blow on that one...
- Gary's penchant for reading humorous or outrageous lines deadpan in his relaxed voice served him quite well in telling the story of the early times of the "perverted, outrageous, violent, repulsive!"...Rolling Stones. ;)
- Story behind "Love Will Keep Us Together" as an Extra: Gary gave the chart fact of songs by married couples that have hit #1; "Love Will Keep Us Together" is the biggest hit of these.
- Incidentally, "The Breakup Song" makes for a hilarious follow-up to that extra - and with no break inbetween, either!
- Believe it or not, despite all the holding peaks, the only two to have been peaking for longer than two weeks this week are the Top 2.
- The #1 Country Song is "Older Women" by Ronnie McDowell.
- The #1 Album is Escape by Journey.
- The #1 Soul Song is "Endless Love".
