Band "Take Your Time (Do it Right)"02 03 Paul McCartney - Coming Up (1) 01 01 Lipps, Inc. - Funkytown (1)NOTES: - This week's Station of the Week: WCRZ, again playing all four extras for a change.
- "Clones" had a problem similar to that of "Just Like Heaven" - just one week in the Top 40, but wasn't a regular Casey-hosted show. As stated, there was a special during Alice's week (the "AT40 Book of Records" special).
- "Respect", believe it or not, was an impromptu extra.
- Last year saw 5-24 air - if you recall, "Stomp" was that week's Biggest Mover, 16-7. So, here's a four week stretch from that song, beginning 5-17: 16-7-7-17. What the hell?!
- Footnote to the second LDD: Shortly before airtime, the show's staff checked on Jeff's situation, and it turns out that the courts had decided to let Poncho stay with him for another year.
- Aside from the second LDD: It seems kind of odd in that its song, "Can't Smile Without You", is awfully similar to Barry's currently-charting single.
- #1 on the Country chart: "My Heart/Silent Night" (medley) by Ronnie Milsap
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Let's Get Serious"
- And, with the most popular album in the land for the 6th week in a row: Against the Wind by Bob Seger

NOTES: - This week's Station of the Week: WCRZ. I don't know what's been driving them to consistently play all four extras as of late, but whatever it is, hopefully it's here to stay?
- Recall from 6-25 that "Black and Blue" debuted, then dropped. In that context, debuting AND peaking right here at #34...might look slightly less unusual. Maybe. ;)
- PERHAPS EQUALLY UNUSUAL? "Supersonic" leaping seven notches to peak at #30.
- The second hour closing was a bit strange in that it had a tease for a Question Letter to follow, then when the closing theme dropped in, Casey said but one line and that was it.
- EQUALLY STRANGE: The sudden-ending edit for "Beds Are Burning".
- Interesting anecdote regarding the four Shadoe-era extras - all but one of their respective albums were currently available at the time of this show. The one that wasn't was Information Society, and that would see release just three days later.
- #1 on the Country chart: "I Told You So" by Randy Travis
- #1 on the Dance chart: "Just Got Paid" by Johnny Kemp
- #1 on the Album chart: Faith by George Michael
- #1 on the Black Singles chart: "One More Try"

- Station Of The Week: WPNC - The first LDD writer had a name but it was hard to transcribe; Also he heard about the LDD feature via mail since AT40 was not heard in Israel - Speaking of LDDs, between this show and the "B" show offering of 6/27/1987 for the '80s, both Benson's and Whitney Houston's versions of "Greatest Love Of All" were featured as an LDD (and to note a recent passing, Benson's version was featured in the 1977 Muhammad Ali movie "The Greatest") - This chart was historic for two reasons: 1.) It marked the first time in Billboard's 39-year chart history that the Top 5 songs were from solo women and 2.) Donna Summer became the first woman (and third act overall) to place two songs in the Top 3, joining Elvis Presley and the Beatles in this category - In fact, due to the former chart achievement, Casey began listing the other #1's prior to song #6 and they were... - #1 Soul: Ring My Bell - #1 Country: Amanda - Waylon Jennings - #1 Disco: "Bad Girls" LP - Donna Summer - #1 Album: Breakfast In America - Supertramp
