NOTES: - This week's Station of the Week: What else, but WCRZ? :)
- Droppers out of order? Sure - when the last one segues into a tribute song that immediately follows. ;)
- Story behind "Rock This Town" as an Extra: A "Whatever Happened To...?" story on the Stray Cats; the choice of "Rock This Town" was more-or-less random.
- Strange chart this week - there's many songs that only move so far in either direction, and then as we get to the upper half, there's several taking large moves up and down.
- Perhaps stranger, is the abrupt transition from Casey's obituary for John Hammond to "Cross My Broken Heart"; the obituary really should have gone before "Luka" instead.
- #1 on the Country chart: "Snap Your Fingers" by Ronnie Milsap
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Fake" by Alexander O' Neal
- #1 on the Album chart: Whitney by Whitney Houston

Band - Take Your Time (Do it Right) (3)Flashback Extra: Queen "Another One Bites the Dust"02 02 Christopher Cross - Sailing (1) 01 01 Olivia Newton-John - Magic (1)NOTES: - FACTOID: With 8-11-84 as last week's show, this makes the second week in a row where a song from one of the year's biggest movies plummets 18-38. Unlike last week, however, that's not this week's Biggest Drop!
- "Love Sensation" would, as stated, be a future #1 on the Dance (Disco) chart, but it never appeared on the Hot 100.
- In case anyone who follows today's music and Pop culture should read this, that first LDD is but a taste of what superfan-dom might have looked like back in 1980. ;)
- Casey would answer a Question Letter asking about two songs with the same title in the Top 40 at the same time. He says it only happened once before, but missed a pair of "Superstar"s from 1971. He'd definitely corrected himself by 4-5-86 (with the two "I Can't Wait"s in The 40), re-telling this fact that week and that time including them.
- Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that Diana Ross story about only getting to sing two songs at a particular show has also been re-told after this, and I want to say it was in a show that's aired not too long ago. I just can't remember which show it would've been...
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Upside Down"
- #1 on the Country chart: "Drivin' My Life Away"
- #1 on the Album chart: Emotional Rescue by The Rolling Stones

NOTES: - This week's Station of the Week: WCRZ, who's still playing all four extras! :o On a side note, their WTRX was read as an affiliate during the show.
- I double-taked when Casey said this was the third week in the countdown for "Oh, People", since I remembered that it falls right out of the Top 40 the following week. Its entire AT40 run: 37-31-29-out. :o
- As with 1-25, the "Don't Stop Believin' " LDD was shortened - though this week in particular, it sounds like it was cut in half.
- "Heaven in Your Eyes", "Words Get in the Way", and "Take My Breath Away" all received the standard jingle, but "All Cried Out" did not.
- This week's "Deja Vu": Guy Aoki's Tony Burroughs story where he sang lead on more Top 40 groups than any other (5), originally told on 12-10-83.
- Can anyone think of another show where both LDDs were from people with the same name?
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But the Rent" by Gwen Guthrie
- #1 on the Disco chart (yes, he called it just the Disco chart this week): "Point of No Return"
- #1 on the Country chart: "Desperado Love" by Conway Twitty
- #1 on the Album chart: True Blue by Madonna

The "A" show this week is from 9/14/1985 (yep, that's the Dead Dog show) which previously aired in 2007 and in 2010. Here was my repost from 2010. Four songs debuted this week: "Part-Time Lover" - Stevie Wonder (#31) "Lovin' Every Minute Of It" - Loverboy (#33) "The Way You Do The Things You Do/My Girl" - Daryl Hall & John Oates (#35) "I'm Goin' Down" - Bruce Springsteen (#36) Four songs fell off this week: "Everytime You Go Away" - Paul Young (#29) "Who's Holding Donna Now" - DeBarge (#31) "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" - Dead Or Alive (#35) "I Wonder If I Take You Home" - Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force (#39) Biggest Mover: "Dancing In The Street" - Mick Jagger & David Bowie (#33 to #25) Biggest Dropper (tie): "Mystery Lady" - Billy Ocean (#27 to #38) "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free" - Sting (#28 to #39) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "This One's For You" - Barry Manilow "Shannon" - Henry Gross (we knew what happened here ;)) "Theme From 'Mahogany' (Do You Know Where You're Going To)" - Diana Ross Premiere optional extras: "You Belong To The City" - Glenn Frey (#57; debuted) "Sunset Grill" - Don Henley (#42) "We Built This City" - Starship (#51) "Never" - Heart (#70; debuted) I'll be sure to listen Sunday morning... from 5 to 9. (The New Orleans Saints have a game that is scheduled to start at 12 pm--and the pre-game show will air at 10 am--so 105.1 The River will air American Top 40: The '80s at an earlier time.) Aretha Franklin's Freeway of Love is #7 on the chart. Is it the Rock Remix...or not?

Aretha Franklin's Freeway of Love is #7 on the chart. Is it the Rock Remix...or not? Shouldn't be; it wasn't back in 2010, and they rarely change anything with shows produced after the second half of 2009.

See that song at #31? That's my favorite band of all time singing my all Time favorite song. ELO, Cheap Trick, The Knack, Kiss. I wish I could go back and live that era; that I never got a chance to live.
