- Casey states at the beginning that the survey period is from December 1981 to November 1982.
- DISPARITY: These songs did not rank in any Billboard year-end survey - "You Don't Want Me Anymore", "Spirits in the Material World", "Someone Could Lose a Heart Tonight", "Hold On", "Just Once", "Break it to Me Gently", and "Theme From Hill Street Blues". That said, they all fall into one of three categories: Peaked at the end of the 1981 survey period (Quincy Jones, Mike Post), peaked at the end of 1982's (Steel Breeze, #84), or simply didn't last long enough in 1982 to rank ("Spirits", Eddie Rabbitt, Santana). Among songs that did rank, the biggest contrasts are the 30+ position differences for "Personally", "Love in the First Degree", and "Making Love" - in Billboard, these ranked #60, #55, and #46, respectively. (Also, songs I may not have mentioned here will likely come up next week. :) )
- FLIP-FLOP: The previous year, The Pointer Sisters released a big hit that would later be a big Country hit in a cover version during this year. Meanwhile, this year the sisters kicked off the year scoring a hit that had already gone Country (Should I Do It) last year!
- While songs being shortened is a given in year-end countdowns, I'm not sure if "Take My Heart" even clocks in at a minute and a half.
- As he did on 1-23, Casey identified each piece of "Hooked on Classics".
- Billboard's Top Soul Singles Artist of the Year: Stevie Wonder
- Billboard's Top Female Album Artist of the Year: Juice Newton
- Billboard's Top Pop Singles Group of the Year: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
- Billboard's Top Pop Singles Artist of the Year: Olivia Newton-John

Geils Band - Centerfold (1) Flashback Extra: Fleetwood Mac "Gypsy"02 Survivor - Eye of the Tiger (1) 01 Olivia Newton-John - Physical (1)NOTES: - DISPARITY: "Heart Attack", with its chart run split between their 1982 and 1983 survey periods, did not rank in either Billboard survey, while "Up Where We Belong" was actually placed in 1983 (ranking #27 there). As for songs that did rank in '82, the differences are even bigger than in Part One - for starters, "Tainted Love", with its many many weeks below The 40 both before and after, ranked up at #11 in Billboard's own survey. Meanwhile, "I Keep Forgettin' ", "Here I Am", and "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" ranked down at #81, #80, and #79, respectively, and "Oh No" and "You Can Do Magic" (#69 and #65) aren't much better. It should also be noted that "Gloria" was actually allowed to rank both this year and in 1983; it placed at #75 and #56, respectively.
- Casey stated that "Waiting For a Girl Like You" moved into #2 on the last chart of 1981, which only holds true if this is based off the respective year-end survey periods and not the actual calendar; its first week at #2 was 11-28-81.
- #1 Album of the Year: Asia
- #1 Soul Single of the Year: "That Girl"
- #1 Country Single of the Year: "Always on My Mind" (evidently, American Country Countdown and Billboard must have agreed on this one, unless Casey wasn't citing ACC with this)
- Billboard's Top Album Act and Top Pop Act of the Year (singles + albums combined): The Go-Gos
- Billboard's Top Male Singles Artist of the Year: John Cougar

I'm so so late with this...
Well, as we all know by now, there are two '80s shows and one '70s show, which means for the third consecutive week, my weekend preview will be a two-parter and even though WWIS is already airing the '80s show, I'll still start with the '70s first since it's one show.
"AT40: The '70s" this week presents 2/3/1973
Five songs debuted this week: "Dueling Banjos" - Eric Weissburg & Steve Mandell (#18) "Killing Me Softly With His Song" - Roberta Flack (#34) "The Cover Of Rolling Stone" - Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show (#36) "Peaceful Easy Feeling" - The Eagles (#38) "I'm Never Gonna Be Alone Anymore" - Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose (#40)
Five songs fell off this week: "Living In The Past" - Jethro Tull (#28) "Keeper Of The Castle" - The Four Tops (#31) "It Never Rains In Southern California" - Albert Hammond (#36) "Sitting" - Cat Stevens (#38) "I'll Be Your Shelter (In Time Of Storm)" - Luther Ingram (#40)
