You know you are an 80's music buff, when you remember this song. "New Song" - Howard Jones (#38). Still one of my New Wave synthpop favs.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers were killing it during the 80's and 90's too. I remember liking "Ride Like The Wind" a lot too.

All right, this weekend there are TWO '70s shows and TWO '80s shows which means again my weekend preview will be a two-parter. Again, we'll start with the '70s first. The "A" show is from 4/3/1971 which aired twice before but there has been a switch-up since so I will be making an original post this time. Four songs debuted that week: "I Am ... I Said" - Neil Diamond (#26) "Baby Let Me Kiss You" - King Floyd (#38) "If" - Bread (#39) "Ask Me No Questions" - B.B. King (#40) Four songs fell off that week: "Mr. Bojangles" - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (#26) "(Theme From) Love Story" - Henry Mancini, His Orchestra & Chorus (#27) "Sweet Mary" - Wadsworth Mansion (#29) "Don't Let The Green Grass Fool You" - Wilson Pickett (#39) Biggest Mover: "Joy To The World" - Three Dog Night (#34 to #11) Biggest Dropper: "If You Could Read My Mind" - Gordon Lightfoot (#13 to #36) Original extras: "Baby Love" - The Supremes (stays in show) "Move Over" - Janis Joplin (will not be played) "Closer To Home" - Grand Funk Railroad (will be played as an optional extra) "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke (That Cigarette)" - Tex Williams (will be played as an optional extra) "Love Me Tender" - Elvis Presley (stays in show) When this show originally aired in 2010, "Move Over" and "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke" stayed while "Baby Love" and "Love Me Tender" were optional extras. Speaking of... Hour #1: "Back In The U.S.A." - Chuck Berry Hour #2: "Closer To Home" - Grand Funk Railroad (original AT40 extra) Hour #3: "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke (That Cigarette)" - Tex Williams (original AT40 extra) Any wonder why we won't hear Janis now?!? All I have to say is at least Premiere is using the "A" show to honor Chuck Berry (and you'll see this in the '80s show when I get to my preview later) The "B" show is from 4/2/1977 which aired in 2007 and in 2016. Here was my repost from last year. Five songs debuted this week: "Can't Stop Dancing" - Captain & Tennille (#30) "Your Love" - Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. (#32) "I'm Your Boogie Man" - KC & The Sunshine Band (#35) "Magical Mystery Tour" - Ambrosia (#39) "Angel In Your Arms" - Hot (#40) Five songs fell off this week: "Crackerbox Palace" - George Harrison (#19) "Boogie Child" - The Bee Gees (#20) "Here Come Those Tears Again" - Jackson Browne (#23) "Blinded By The Light" - Manfred Mann's Earth Band (#29) "Year Of The Cat" - Al Stewart (#30) Biggest Mover (tie): "When I Need You" - Leo Sayer (#35 to #21) "I Wanna Get Next To You" - Rose Royce (#36 to #22) Biggest Dropper: "Go Your Own Way" - Fleetwood Mac (#18 to #29) Original extras: None Premiere optional extras Hour #1: "Undercover Angel" - Alan O'Day (#98; debuted) Hour #2: "Lonely Boy" - Andrew Gold (#57) Hour #3: "Disco Inferno" - The Trammps (#63) The '80s preview will be up soon.

What a way to start with that new theme package, though...Casey forgets to read the droppers this week.
- Originally shortened: Believe it or not, "With or Without You" (missing the bridge section where Bono's up at the top of his lungs). Also the first LDD, "St. Elmo's Fire".
- The Chuck Berry extra is actually from 5-29-82, aired last year (and therefore voiced by Casey).
- Another one from the "Sign O' The Times (no connection to Prince)" Files: Get a load of the five songs dropping 10 or more notches this week. All five would drop out next week. Then, the week after that, another five fell 10 or more. Four of those would join three other falling songs in dropping out the week after that (the fifth didn't join them because that drop was up in the Top 20). Yeah...the spring of '87 was a time of really rapid chart turnover. What's especially crazy is that it follows a winter of '86 where songs took longer going up the whole Hot 100.
- Interesting that "What's Going On" received the standard jingle...while not quite slow-paced, it doesn't have the feel of an uptempo song.
- Also interesting that the week where Glenn Medeiros debuts, the station whose contest provided his first steps toward stardom also gets a mention in the show (in the second hour). A similar situation to this occurs two years later on 4-8-89, where KDWB, which helped break Roxette's "The Look" in the U.S., is mentioned, as the song hits #1. As for Glenn, Casey would tell his story nearly three months later on 6-27.
- #1 on both the Dance and on the Soul chart: "Looking For a New Love"
- #1 on the Country chart: "Oceanfront Property" by George Strait
- #1 on the Album chart: The Beastie Boys, with Licensed to Ill

Come Go With Me - Expose was probably the last of the big top 10 Freestyle hits of 80's. You don't count any of theirs that came after? (Specifically..."Point of No Return"? "Let Me Be the One"? "What You Don't Know"?)
