This looks to be the first Christmas song of 2011 to impact the AC chart.
A very different approach to the Mariah classic. Very straight through rendition.

It's decent, with room to grow on me. It should have plenty of chances to with the spins it's already getting. I don't see it topping Mariah's version for me though.
Speaking of its spins, it looks like this could easily be top 20 by Sunday night. Is this the first time a Christmas song has been this high before November is even half over? Of course, with fewer and fewer spins needed to make the lower rungs of the chart, this probably isn't nearly the accomplishment it may seem like at first.

I'd say this has a good shot at No. 1 on AC. Currently No. 13, with 417 spins (up 267 from a week ago).

Most added this week with 23.
The song is now top 10 on Mediabase.

Now No. 1, with 769 spins. I know that it's holiday oldies who get the lion's share of AC play, but you'd think the No. 1 track at AC radio would have more spins than it sees in late November/December. This should reach 900-1,000 spins at its peak, I'd think (which is roughly less than half of what a typical AC No. 1 sees in non-holiday periods).

Billboard.com: www.billboard.com/column/chartbeat#/column/chartbeat/michael-buble-s-mariah-carey-cover-tops-1005570782.storyMichael Buble's Mariah Carey Cover Tops Adult Contemporaryby Gary Trust | November 28, 2011 Michael Buble's cover of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" does what the original never did: it reaches No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio airplay chart. The remake bounds 10-1 in its third week on the AC tally, outperforming the No. 6 peak to which Carey's version climbed the week of Jan. 7, 1995. Just past Thanksgiving, Buble's version received airplay on 64 of the AC panel's 76 stations in the chart's tracking week, as the format makes its annual segue to a reliance on holiday music, a movement that intensified at the beginning of the 2000s. Buble's slower take than Carey's jangly original "Christmas" marks his fourth AC No. 1, following "Home" (two weeks, 2005); "Everything" (three, 2007); and, "Haven't Met You Yet" (three, 2010). (Carey, meanwhile, is charting on AC with a new version of "Christmas." Justin Bieber's new duet of the song with Carey, from his seasonal set "Under the Mistletoe," jumps 18-11 in its second week). "I heard 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' done by my bass player (Craig Polasko), this really slow and heartfelt way," says Buble. "He heard it, he liked," confirms Polasko, "and basically told me, 'one day, I'm going to steal your arrangement'." The coronation of "Christmas" represents the earliest a holiday song has ever led the AC chart. While Josh Groban's "Believe" also reached No. 1 on the first chart released following Thanksgiving in 2004 (dated that Dec. 11), Buble bests his Warner Bros. labelmate by a day, as this week's Billboard charts are dated Dec. 10, 2011. Buble additionally scales AC with "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" (17-9), "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" (16-12) and "White Christmas," with Shania Twain (28-16), and debuts with "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" (No. 22) and "Jingle Bells," featuring the Puppini Sisters (No. 23). His six simultaneously-charting songs are the most by an artist since the list converted to Nielsen BDS data in 1993, topping two weeks in 2005 when Clay Aiken charted five each. The carols appear on Buble's holiday album, "Christmas," which, as previously reported, is expected to rise 2-1 and block new releases by Rihanna, Nickelback and Daughtry from the summit of this week's Billboard 200. An ascent to the apex would mark the set's first week on top and Buble's third No. 1 on the tally.

Wow, is #11 to #1 the biggest leap ever to the top of the AC chart?

I believe "Oh Santa" jumped 12-1 last year.
Buble lands one record, though, as noted- most titles simultaneously on the AC chart (six) since 1993, when Billboard started using BDS for the chart.

We're getting into the post-Thanksgiving days now, so gains will be smaller (possibly even see a loss) before things pick up again.
This should stay on top for five weeks.

I believe "Oh Santa" jumped 12-1 last year. Yes and in its 2nd week on the chart (which is a record). Then it spent the remaining 4 weeks of the holiday season at #1. This should stay on top for five weeks. Are there 4 weeks left?

Yes- Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, so holiday tracks will cease as soon as the tracking week for the 1/14 chart starts.
Messiah- Buble's first week at No. 1 is for the 12/10 chart. It should remain on top for the 12/17, 12/24, 12/31 and 1/7 charts.

Is it possible that it, along with the other Holiday songs, will fall completely off the chart the following week?

Since the tracking week for the chart ends Sunday, Dec. 25, it absolutely will drop right off the chart. :)
This is up to 1,112 spins on AC- that's higher than "Oh Santa" reached last year, isn't it?

I think it goes Sunday-Saturday, but not all stations flip back on 12/26, a few will linger.

Billboard's period is Monday-Sunday for spins-based charts. Per the All Access e-mails that get sent out on Monday, Mediabase indeed is Sunday-Saturday. So, that leaves one day of big airplay for the following Mediabase chart- no holiday track is likely to hang on for that chart.

It's one reason to look forward to the end of the holidays. How will the AC chart react to the Christmas loss? At this point we are already guaranteed there will be 3 new songs on the chart.

Michael Bublé is clearly the king of Christmas. He currently has the top 3 songs on the AC chart at the moment: 1 1 MICHAEL BUBLE All I Want For Chris... 1225 1265 -40 9.461 5 2 MICHAEL BUBLE It's Beginning To Lo... 499 372 127 3.901 2 3 MICHAEL BUBLE Holly Jolly Christma... 423 441 -18 3.569

This bounced back with a gain today (albeit, a +4 for the 7-day rolling period), after a string of negative-update days. Still commands the chart with more than twice as much airplay as No. 2.

Also crosses 10m audience at AC with today's update.
Will this break the Hot 100 this week? It was No. 1 bubbling under for the 12/24 chart.

Looks like this misses out on the Hot 100- Yahoo!'s Paul Grein didn't mention it as a debut, so it's probably stuck at No.1 Bubbling Under (or close to it).

Spoke too soon- Grein just chose not to mention it. It debuts at No. 99. :)
